Johns Hopkins University sophomore Felicia Koerner placed fourth in the 10,000-meter run on the opening day of the 2017 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute. Koerner, who earns All-America honors with her fourth-place showing, also contributes five points in the team standings for Johns Hopkins.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year Tuesday night. Sophomore Felicia Koerner was named the Mideast Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, while head coach Bobby Van Allen earned Women’s Coach of the Year honors. Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following a nomination period.

Blue Jays Win Eighth-Straight Centennial Outdoor Championships

The Johns Hopkins women’s track & field team won its eighth-straight Centennial Conference Championships with 202.5 points, winning three event titles on the final day of competition. Erin Brush claimed the gold in the 800 meter run finals, which featured five Blue Jays, while Ellie Clawson and Felicia Koerner finished first and second in the 5,000 meter runs. Hopkins closed out the 2017 Centennial Conference Championships with a 4x400 meter relay victory, anchored by Lindsay Cheu.



Hammonds, Freed Lead JHU on Day Two of Centennial Championships

Johns Hopkins sophomore Maya Hammonds led the Blue Jays on day two of the Centennial Conference Championships Saturday, winning the heptathlon victory with 3856 points and posting a pair of third-place finishes in the long jump and high jump. Sophomore Tasha Freed won the 3,000 meter steeplechase crown with a time of 11:24.52.

Koerner Captures 10,000 Meters Centennial Crown

Johns Hopkins sophomore Felicia Koerner captured the 10,000 meter run title as the Blue Jays hosted the first day of Centennial Conference Championships. Sophia Cortazzo and Helen Girod finished second and third, respectively, in the pole vault, clearing a program outdoor record height of 3.35m. Maya Hammonds and Kelsey Harper lead the heptathlon field at the end of the day one of competition.
