A 13-foot tall statue stands in front of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans that depicts Steve Gleason blocking a punt, a play that became a part of Saints lore and symbolic of the city's resilience in the face of disaster. On Sept. 25, 2006, Gleason blocked the ball into the end zone for a Saints touchdown, the night the rebuilt Superdome and the city of New Orleans hosted a National Football League game for the first time since Hurricane Katrina.
