Western Carolina senior Dylan MacQueen sits in fifth place, just three strokes off the lead after 36 of the scheduled 54 holes at Elon's Phoenix Invitational, hosted at the par-71, 6,867-yard Alamance Country Club. The Catamounts sit in 12th place entering Tuesday's final round, just three strokes outside of the top 10 after shooting rounds of 299 and 285 for a total of 584.

Western Carolina senior Jackson Bishop saved his best for last on Tuesday, carding a team-low round of 2-under par, 69, to jump 15 spots into a tie for 18th-place in the final standings as play concluded at the 2017 Hummingbird Intercollegiate. Behind Bishop's rally, WCU was the biggest mover on the final day, climbing into tie for seventh place at the par-71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley.

With the opening round delayed just over an hour due to an early autumn frost, second round play at the 2017 Hummingbird Intercollegiate was suspended due to darkness on Monday evening at the beautiful par-71, 6,767-yard Country Club of Sapphire Valley. Play resumes Tuesday with the completion of the second round followed by the final 18 holes.

Western Carolina men's golf carded its best round of the tournament to close play, shooting 299 over the final 18 holes on Tuesday in finishing 11th overall at the Memphis Intercollegiate. Two golfers -- freshman Chandler Metz and senior Dylan MacQueen -- paced the squad, finishing amongst a three-way tie for 30th at the par-72, 7,235-yard Colonial Country Club -- South Course.

Paced by freshman Chandler Metz who was playing in his first collegiate tournament, the Western Carolina men's golf team slipped two spots in the final standings on Monday, finishing tied for sixth at the season-opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate played on the Kaluhyat Course at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y. The Catamounts matched VCU with a 54-hole team score of 924.

Men's Golf Tied for Fourth at Turning Stone Invitational

The Western Carolina men's golf team is tied for fourth after the first two rounds on the Turning Point Invitational with a 36-hole total of 616. The tournament which is being held in Verona, N.Y., but is hosted by the University of Missouri, will be completed Monday morning as the final 18 holes will be contested. Senior Dylan MacQueen leads the Catamounts as he sits tied for seventh overall at four-over par (148).

The Western Carolina men’s golf team opens its 2017 season on Sunday at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in Verona, N.Y. The two-day, three-round event is being played on the Turning Stone Resort’s Kaluhyat Course, playing at par-72 with a length of 6,857 total yards.

Tim Eckberg, WCU Men's Golf Release 2017-18 Schedule

Thirteen combined tournaments including five in the fall and eight in the spring semester comprise the 2017-18 Western Carolina men's golf schedule released today by third-year head coach, Tim Eckberg. This year's schedule includes WCU hosting two events -- one a semester -- including a return to the Country Club of Sapphire Valley in the fall and a new hosting opportunity in the spring.
