Five Catamounts Named to 2017 NCCSIA All-State Team

Western Carolina landed five players on the 2017 University Division All-State Baseball teams released on Friday by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA). It was the ninth-straight year that WCU had players on the squad, and the sixth-consecutive year in having multiple players honored.



Brett Pope Selected on Final Day of MLB Draft

Western Carolina junior infielder Brett Pope was selected in the 22nd round by the Pittsburgh Pirates during Wednesday's final round of the 2017 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Pope was one of two Catamounts drafted, joining senior LHP Bryan Sammons who was taken on the second day in the eighth round by the Minnesota Twins.



Bryson Bowman Collects Second Postseason All-America Honor

Catamount Baseball in the Various Summer Leagues

Western Carolina has a total of 18 baseball players joining 13 different teams across seven different leagues as play in the various summer wooden bat leagues commences. Six of the 18 are slated to be in action with southeastern-based leagues during the summer months with a pair of juniors inked to the prestigious Cape Cod League, which opens in mid-June.

Western Carolina, Mercer Regular Season Finale Cancelled

Western Carolina baseball's regular season finale at Mercer was halted in the top of the fourth inning on Saturday afternoon before ultimately being cancelled due to inclement weather and unfavorable forecasts the remainder of the evening. The start of the game was delayed by just over an hour at OrthoGeorgia Park before enduring just over a 30-minute pause before the decision was handed down to end the game.



Nail Strikes Out 11 as Catamounts Claim Series at Mercer

Junior LHP Brendan Nail struck out 11 batters while limiting Mercer to two runs on just two hits over seven innings on Friday night as Western Carolina clinched the Southern Conference series win with a game two victory, 3-2, over the Bears at OrthoGeorgia Park. The two teams combined for 25 strikeouts -- 13 by WCU and 12 by Mercer -- over the nine-inning affair.
