Junior Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Dublin, Ireland), sophomore Kaley Ciluffo (LeClaire, Iowa) and redshirt freshman Bella Burda (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) all won their events in their season debuts during competition at the Gotham Cup, and the Wildcats came out of the meet with several new personal best marks.

Freshman sprinter Trudy-Ann Williamson (Kingston, Jamaica) provided the highlight of the day by first tying, and then breaking, the school record in the 60 meter dash. She won the final heat in a record time of 7.41 seconds.
Wed, 14 Dec 2016 22:27:00 ESTIt was a very memorable birthday for legendary Villanova track & field coach Marty Stern, who was one of six coaches inducted into the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Coaches Hall of Fame on Wednesday night. The ceremony took place during the organization's annual convention at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes Resort & Spa. An audience of more than 600 peers, family and friends honored the six Hall of Fame inductees, and Stern was inducted on the night that he also celebrated his 80th birthday.

They were among five athletes who competed for Villanova in the nearby meet at Rauch Field House. There were also three athletes competing for the Wildcats in the pole vault.

Junior jumper Courtney Caldwell (Trenton, N.J.) recorded a new personal best in winning the triple jump and the Wildcats also claimed first place finishes in the long jump, three sprint events and three distance races. Villanova also tallied a win in the 4x400 meter relay in Saturday's home meet at Alumni Gym on the Haverford campus.

The meet takes place in Alumni Gym at Haverford College and will begin with field events at 11 a.m., followed by the start of running events at 12 p.m.

An awards ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Northwood in Dublin where the country’s top athletics performers during the past year were recognized. Cleirigh Buttner had earlier been selected as one of three finalists for the U23 Athlete of the Year honor.
