Track & Field Great Nnenna Lynch Presented With Silver Anniversary Award at NCAA Honors Celebration in Indianapolis on Wednesday night

Former Villanova track & field great and current university Board of Trustees member Nnenna Lynch was among six former college athletes who were presented with NCAA Silver Anniversary Award on Wednesday night at the NCAA Honors Celebration in Indianapolis. The Silver Anniversary Award annually recognizes distinguished individuals on the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of their college athletics careers. Representatives of NCAA member schools and conferences, along with a panel of former student-athletes, select each year's recipients.

Wildcats Past and Present Honored by Philadelphia Sports Writers

Women’s track & field stars Siofra Cleirigh Buttner and Angel Piccirillo, along with former men’s basketball standout Kyle Lowry, were among the honored guests and award recipients at the 114th Annual Philadelphia Sports Writers Dinner on Monday night. The event was held at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill and recognized many of the biggest names in the Philadelphia sports scene.

Ciluffo and McArthur Tally Wins at Nittany Lion Challenge

Junior middle distance runner Kaley Ciluffo (LeClaire, Iowa) and freshman Rachel McArthur (Bristow, Va.) notched individual victories in the 1000 meters and the 600 meters, respectively, and Villanova got 2018 off to a successful start at the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday afternoon. The team had entries in five individual running events, two relays and three field events at Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. Freshman sprinter Sarah Jones (Sewell, N.J.) also had a strong day for the Wildcats in advancing to the final of the 60 meter hurdles.

Women’s Track & Field Opens Strong at Jack Pyrah Invitational

The track & field season is officially underway after Villanova opened the 2017-18 indoor campaign by hosting the Jack Pyrah Invitational at Haverford College on Saturday afternoon. Junior distance runner Nicole Hutchinson (West Vancouver, B.C.) led the Wildcats distance group with a first place finish in the 3000 meters, while junior Adeline Scelzi (Glen Allen, Va.) and senior Bridget Owen (Northborough, Mass.) tied for first place in the pole vault.

Track & Field and Cross Country Programs Dedicate Brand New Locker Rooms During Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

For the second time in the past two years, the Villanova track & field family came together to celebrate the program’s tradition and the generosity of Robert F. Moran ’72, who has made possible the opening of the track & field office suite in 2015 and brand new locker rooms for the track & field and cross country teams which were dedicated during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday afternoon.
