Donohue, OSA, PhD, today announced at Villanova’s annual “Hoops on the Hudson” basketball event that the Pavilion—the University’s on-campus arena and home to its Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs—will be named for William B. Finneran ’63 VSB. Last spring, Finneran’s $22.6 million leadership gift was announced to support renovations to the Pavilion and programmatic initiatives for the Villanova Men’s Basketball program. This historic gift will have a lasting impact on the University’s Athletics program, and when the Pavilion renovation is completed, it will be renamed the William B. Finneran Pavilion.

In the preseason predicted order of finish, Villanova was picked to finish fourth with 59 points. Creighton and DePaul tied for top spot with 75 points, while Marquette was chosen to finish third with 62 points.

The Wildcats are scheduled to play Troy on Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving Day) at 5:45 p.m., and Virginia Commonwealth on Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. Both games will be played at the Ocean Center Arena.

Villanova will play Mississippi State in the first round and will play either Purdue or the host Black Bears on day two. Following the trip to Maine, Villanova returns to the Main Line to open the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, Nov. 20, against the George Washington Colonials.
