Men's Track & Field: Wildcats Looking to Contend at #BIGEASTtrack

The men's and women's track & field teams are headed for the BIG EAST Championships this week, as the conference meet will be held on Friday and Saturday at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. It is the third straight year that the indoor conference championships will be held at the venue, and all of the action will once again be carried live on the BIG EAST Digital Network. Men's Track & Field: Wildcats DMR Moves up on NCAA Qualifying List

A solid race from start to finish and one final lean at the finish line added up to a third place finish for Villanova in the distance medley relay at the UCS Invitational on Friday night. A lineup that consisted of graduate student Ben Malone (River Vale, N.J.), freshman Brian Faust (Stone Mountain, Ga.), junior Harry Purcell (Dublin, Ireland) and sophomore Logan Wetzel (Saline, Mich.) posted a time of 9:37.30 on the JDL Fast Track.

Nick Steele Competes in Mile at David Hemery Invite

Redshirt freshman distance runner Nick Steele (Harvard, Mass.) ran the Mile for Villanova in a race at the David Hemery Invite on Saturday afternoon. He recorded a time of 4:23.68 at the Track & Tennis Center, where he was the Wildcats only men's runner in competition at the meet. Steele placed 11th in his heat in Saturday's race.



Wildcats Record Four Top-Four Finishes at FastTrack Invite

Sophomore distance runner Rob Morro (Media, Pa.) won the invitational section of the 5000 meters and three other Villanova athletes finished in the top four of their respective events during competition at the FastTrack National Invite on Friday afternoon. There were a total of 17 athletes competing for the Wildcats in the highly competitive meet at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex.

Men's Track & Field: Marston Breaks 14:00 in 5K at Iowa State Classic

Three distance runners from Villanova traveled out to the Iowa State Classic on Friday night and tallied terrific results against top competition at Lied Recreation Center. Headlining the results from the meet was sophomore Andrew Marston (Wayne, Pa.), who broke 14 minutes in the 5000 meters in perhaps the best race of his collegiate career thus far. Redshirt freshman Martin Barr (Skokie, Ill.) also had a big personal best in the 5000 meters, while sophomore Casey Comber (Maple Glen, Pa.) had a strong finish in the 3000 meters.

Purcell's Win in 400 Meters Highlights Villanova Invitational

The combination of junior sprinter Harry Purcell (Dublin, Ireland) and freshman Brian Faust (Stone Mountain, Ga.) is becoming something of a 1-2 punch for Villanova this season. The pair was the top two finishers in an event for the second time in as many weeks, and their performances in the 400 meters on Saturday evening helped lead the Wildcats to a successful night overall in the Villanova Invitational. The team was hosting its second and final home meet of the season at Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex.

Track & Field to Host Villanova Invitational on Saturday Afternoon

Several teams from around the region, including every Big 5 school and BIG EAST member Georgetown, will take part in the Villanova Invitational this Saturday afternoon. Action in both the field events and the running events is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. as the Wildcats host their annual home meet at Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex. Distance Trio Sets PRs in 3000 Meters as Columbia Challenge Concludes

Two days of competition at the Columbia Challenge wrapped up on Saturday afternoon and Villanova recorded several strong performances in the distance events. The trio of sophomore Casey Comber (Maple Glen, Pa.), sophomore Andrew Marston (Wayne, Pa.) and redshirt freshman Martin Barr (Skokie, Ill.) all set new personal bests in the 3000 meters on the New York Armory track, while junior Zach Swenson (Boulder, Colo.) and redshirt freshman Nick Steele (Harvard, Mass.) established top times in the Mile.

Faust and Purcell Tally 1-2 Finish in 500 Meters at Columbia Challenge

Junior sprinter Sterling Pierce (Voorhees, N.J.) recorded one of the fastest times in school history in the 60 meters, and the duo of freshman Brian Faust (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and junior Harry Purcell (Dublin, Ireland) finished 1-2 in the college section of the 500 meters to get Villanova started during a busy weekend of action at New York Armory. The famed venue is the site of both the Columbia Challenge and the Dr. Sander Invitational, concurrent events taking place on Friday and Saturday.

Several Wildcats Record Personal Bests at Penn 8-Team Select

It was a small but successful meet for Villanova on Saturday night, as the team competed in the Penn 8-Team Select meet at Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex. Athletes from the Wildcats competed in six running events and six field events during the night, with the team seeing new personal best marks recorded in seven different events. The meet marked the first of several times that Villanova will compete at the Ocean Breeze site this season.

Harry Purcell Named BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Junior sprinter Harry Purcell (Dublin, Ireland) was named the BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week in an announcement made by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. The weekly honor for Purcell comes after he won the 600 meters at the Nittany Lion Challenge last weekend. It is the first time in his career that Purcell has earned weekly recognition from the conference.

Harry Purcell Wins 600 Meters at Nittany Lion Challenge

Junior sprinter Harry Purcell (Dublin, Ireland) showed strong form for early in the season in winning the 600 meters and Villanova tallied several strong performances during the Nittany Lion Challenge held at Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track on Saturday afternoon. Athletes from the Wildcats competed in eight individual running events, one relay and four field events in the team's first meet of the new calendar year.

Men's Track & Field Claims Three Victories at Jack Pyrah Invitational

Three individual winners highlighted a strong start to the 2017-18 track & field season as Villanova hosted the annual Jack Pyrah Invitational at Haverford College on Saturday afternoon. Junior sprinter Harry Purcell (Dublin, Ireland) won the 500 meters, while sophomore Thomas Conboy (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and junior Henry Sise (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) posted wins in the pole vault and the shot put.
