Senior Theo Humphrey is now one step closer to a U.S. Amateur title after knocking off Chun An Yu, 1-up, in his quarterfinal match at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., on Friday. Humphrey sealed the deal against Yu with a clutch seven-foot par putt on the 18th hole to advance to the semifinals and a match with Doug Ghim, a Southern California standout.

Senior Theo Humphrey defeated round of 64 opponent Brendon Jelley of Tulsa, Okla. on Wednesday at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., and will take on Kyle Mueller, who plays at the University of Michigan in the round of 32. Humphrey’s match with Mueller will begin at 7:55 a.m. Pacific time on Thursday.

Humphrey, Gordon advance to U.S. Amateur match play

Senior Theo Humphrey and junior Will Gordon each advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Amateur at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., after finishing in the top 64 of the 36-hole stroke-play portion of the tournament on Tuesday. Humphrey finished in a tie for third out of 312 of the world’s top amateurs after posting a four-under par, 136, on Monday and Tuesday, while Gordon shot an even-par, 140, to finish in a tie for 19th on the stroke-play leaderboard.

Trio of Commodores to tee off at U.S. Amateur

Senior Theo Humphrey and juniors Will Gordon and Patrick Martin will participate in the 117th U.S. Amateur beginning Monday, August 14th at Riviera Country Club and Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif. Two rounds of stroke play will take place on Monday and Tuesday, with the top 64 players advancing to match play on Wednesday, August 16th at Riviera.

Commodores MG faces challenging slate in 2017-18

Vanderbilt will once again play one of the nation’s toughest schedules at some of the most well-known golf courses in the world in 2017-18, with their challenging slate beginning September 1-3 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links with seven other teams in the Carmel Cup. In all, the Commodores will play nine regular season events and the SEC Championship, which will once again have a stroke/match play format and for the first time, will feature live television coverage from the SEC Network in the final round of match play, at the Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga.

Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh has announced Marquette assistant coach and former Alabama standout Gator Todd as his new assistant coach on Friday. Todd replaces Dusty Smith, who was named as Mississippi State’s new head coach in June, and will assume his duties with the Commodores immediately.

Commodores have four GCAA All-Americans

Senior Matthias Schwab, junior Theo Humphrey and freshman John Augenstein were each selected as a Golf Coaches Association of America All-American in an announcement made by the organization Thursday. Schwab was named to the second team, Humphrey the third team, and Augenstein as an honorable mention selection for their exploits on the golf course this year.

Brandt and Mandy Snedeker establish Vanderbilt golf scholarship

An endowed scholarship helped pave the path to a remarkable collegiate and PGA Tour career for Brandt Snedeker. Now, Brandt and his wife Mandy Snedeker are giving back to Vanderbilt Athletics and Coach Scott Limbaugh's nationally recognized program by establishing the Snedeker Golf Scholarship, which will support future Commodore men's golfers.

Limbaugh named GCAA National Coach of the Year

Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh has been honored with the GCAA's Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips, an award given to the Division I Men's Golf Head Coach of the Year. Limbaugh led the Commodores to the NCAA Championship stroke-play title in Sugar Grove, Ill., by 12 shots, the biggest victory since 2001, and a number one ranking in all three postseason polls.

Martin named 1st Team All-American, Augenstein named to All-Freshman team

Vanderbilt sophomore Patrick Martin was named a first-team All-American selection by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), and freshman John Augenstein was named to the All-American All-Freshman team. Martin is the fourth Commodore to be named to a first team, joining teammate Matthias Schwab (2016), Hunter Stewart (2015), and current PGA Tour member Brandt Snedeker (2003), while Augenstein is Vanderbilt’s third selection to the All-Freshman team in the last two seasons.

The Limbaugh Effect

On Tuesday, Vanderbilt fell to Oregon in the Final Four of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships in Sugar Grove, Ill. Yet the Commodores' finish couldn't erase what was an otherwise remarkable campaign in Scott Limbaugh's fifth season. The program won its first SEC Championship, won the stroke play of NCAAs for the first time in history and ascended to Vanderbilt's first-ever Final Four. The Dores also spent much of the season ranked No. 1 in the country.
