MG finishes 3rd at Rod Myers Invitational

Sophomore John Augenstein led four Vanderbilt players in the top 15 this weekend at the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, N.C., where the Commodores finished third on the team leader board with a final total of 846 (291-274-281) in the 54-hole event. Augenstein led the team with an eighth-place finish and a final score of 209 (72-67-70), with senior Theo Humphrey finishing 11th, junior Will Gordon in a tie for 12th, and junior Patrick Martin in a tie for 15th.

Sophomore John Augenstein carded a two-round score of 139 (72-67), including a second-round 67, to lead the Commodores in the first two rounds of play at the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, N.C. As a team, Vanderbilt is in third place with a team total of 565 (291-274) and trails second-place Oregon by one shot and first-place Wake Forest by seven shots.

The number-three ranked Commodore men’s golf team returns to the course this Saturday and Sunday at the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, N.C. The event, with 36 holes being played on Saturday and 18 on Sunday, will be played at the par-72, 7,154-yard Duke University Golf Club.



2017 Hall of Fame: Lew Conner

Lew Conner's place in Commodore history is cemented as a member of the 2017 Hall of Fame class. Conner was a student-athletes on the men's golf squad from 1957-60, but the Nashville attorney has perhaps made his biggest impact on Vanderbilt in the years since.



Dores finish Carmel Cup in 4th

The Vanderbilt men’s golf team finished the seventh annual Carmel Cup in fourth place with a final total of 27-under par, 1053 (357-343-353) and placed four individuals in the top 20 in the individual standings and three in the top 10 at the world famous Pebble Beach Golf Links. Junior Patrick Martin led the way for the Commodores with three rounds in the 60’s and a final total of 204 (69-67-68) to finish in a tie for fourth.



Augenstein shoots 63 to lead VU at Carmel Cup

Sophomore John Augenstein fired a second-round, nine-under par, 63, at the world famous Pebble Beach Golf Links to lead the Commodores at the Carmel Cup on Saturday in a round that pushed Vanderbilt three spots up the team leader board after the team carded a 17-under par, 343. Augenstein is in third place in the individual standings, four shots behind leader Hurly Long of Texas Tech, with a two-round score of 134 (71-63).

The number-two ranked Commodores’ men’s golf team opened their 2017-18 campaign on Friday at the world famous Pebble Beach Golf Links and the seventh annual Carmel Cup, finishing the first 18 holes with a total of 357, which is sixth on the team leaderboard after the opening round of play. Junior Patrick Martin carded the team’s best round of the day with a three-under par, bogey-free 69, which places him in a tie for eighth on the individual leader board heading into the second round Saturday on the Monterrey Peninsula.



No. 2-ranked Commodores begin season at Carmel Cup

2017 semifinalist and number-two ranked Vanderbilt Men’s Golf begins their season this upcoming weekend at the Carmel Cup, an eight-team collegiate event at Pebble Beach Golf Links on the Monterrey Peninsula in California. The event, which begins at 7 a.m. Pacific on Friday and Saturday and at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, is the seventh annual edition of the tournament.

Senior Theo Humphrey defeated round of 64 opponent Brendon Jelley of Tulsa, Okla. on Wednesday at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., and will take on Kyle Mueller, who plays at the University of Michigan in the round of 32. Humphrey’s match with Mueller will begin at 7:55 a.m. Pacific time on Thursday.



Humphrey, Gordon advance to U.S. Amateur match play

Senior Theo Humphrey and junior Will Gordon each advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Amateur at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., after finishing in the top 64 of the 36-hole stroke-play portion of the tournament on Tuesday. Humphrey finished in a tie for third out of 312 of the world’s top amateurs after posting a four-under par, 136, on Monday and Tuesday, while Gordon shot an even-par, 140, to finish in a tie for 19th on the stroke-play leaderboard.
