The Cardinal had closed in to tie up the game at the end of the third quarter and then again later in the fourth to bring up overtime. There, USC would issue back-to-back scores to take a lead in the first overtime frame. In the second, Stanford struck first, but USC struck last when it mattered, netting a blast from Ioanna Haralabidis to go up 10-9 with five second left, and USC would fend off the Cardinal for the win.

The Trojans drummed up a 12-5 win over No. 7 Hawai'i to start the day and secure a spot in the semifinals that evening. There, USC was up against crosstown rival UCLA for the first time this season, squaring off against the Bruins in an evening clash that saw the Trojans score three straight to erase an early deficit and power on to a 10-9 victory, improving USC's overall record to 17-0 on the year.

The Trojans will now move on to a 10:30 a.m. clash against either No. 7 Hawai’i or No. 11 Pacific tomorrow (Feb. 25) to close out group play aiming for a semifinal slot tomorrow afternoon. Placement games will be held on Sunday (Feb. 26).

The undefeated Trojans grip a 14-0 overall record and are riding a 41-game win streak dating back to the final game of 2015 as they now turn to defend their tournament title from last season in Irvine. USC will open up this year's tourney with an 11:15 a.m. matchup against No. 20 LMU on Friday (Feb. 24). A win there would put the Trojans up against their next group play foe -— the winner of Friday's game between No. 7 Hawai'i and No. 11 Pacific — at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 25). A victorious stand in group play would send USC on to the semifinals that Saturday afternoon. On Sunday (Feb. 26), placement games will be held, with the championship match set for 1 p.m., preceded by an 11:30 a.m. third-place game.
