USC women's volleyball senior middle blocker Elise Ruddins (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel HS) and freshman outside hitter Khalia Lanier (Scottsdale, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) were each named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Pacific South All-Region Team on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

The USC women’s volleyball team (18-14) was eliminated following a five-set loss (25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 16-25, 15-13) to No. 12-ranked Hawai’i (23-5) in the first round of the 2016 NCAA tournament at The Sports Pavilion on Friday, Dec. 2. The Women of Troy fought back from a 2-0 deficit to force the team’s seventh five-set match of the season and faced 12 tie scores in the fifth set before the Rainbow Wahine completed the win to move into round two where they will face either No. 2-seed site host Minnesota or North Dakota on Saturday (Dec. 3).

Six Trojans Receive Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention

The Pac-12 Conference announced its 2016 Volleyball All-Academic teams on Thursday, Dec. 1, with six USC student-athletes selected for honorable mention status. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's scheduled regular-season contests.



Trojans Open NCAA Tournament Against Hawai'i

The USC women's volleyball team (18-13) was selected for its 26th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance (34th all-time) and will face No. 12-ranked Hawai'i (22-5) out of the Big West Conference in the first round on Friday, Dec. 2, at 4:30 p.m. CT (2:30 p.m. PT) at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn. Site host No. 2-seeded and top-ranked Minnesota (25-4) hosts North Dakota (26-9) in the other first-round match at 7 p.m. CT. The two first-round winners will face each other in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. CT.



Khalia Lanier and Elise Ruddins Named to All-Pac-12 Team

USC women's volleyball senior middle blocker Elise Ruddins (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel HS) and freshman outside hitter Khalia Lanier (Scottsdale, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) were each named to the 2016 Pac-12 All-Conference Team on Monday, Nov. 28. Sophomore outside hitter Alyse Ford (Laguna Beach, Calif./Mater Dei HS) was chosen for all-conference honorable mention. Lanier was also selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.



USC Women's Volleyball Selected to 26th Straight NCAA Tournament

The USC women's volleyball team (18-13) was chosen to the program's 26th consecutive NCAA tournament and will make its 34th overall appearance in the annual tourney. The NCAA's selection committee announced its field of 64 teams on Sunday, Nov. 27, and selected the Trojans for an at-large berth. The Women of Troy will open their tournament run in a first-round match against Hawai'i (22-5) out of the Big West Conference at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis on Friday, Dec. 2, at 4:30 p.m. CT (2:30 p.m. PT). USC women’s volleyball senior middle blocker Elise Ruddins collected 23 kills and hit .677 to power the Women of Troy (18-10, 10-7 Pac-12) to a five-set come-from-behind win (25-27, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23, 15-12) over Oregon State (11-18, 4-14) at Galen Center on Friday, Nov. 18. Ruddins’ career performance marked the first time a Trojan middle blocker had as many kills since All-American Emily Adams had 23 in 2003.
