W. Golf. Ree Wins Nanea Pac-12 Preview Title At 6-Under

The Trojans couldn’t field a team this week at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview with over half the roster playing in the LPGA’s Q School, but sophomore Robynn Ree was still able to add to USC’s growing trophy collection by winning the individual title at 6-under 213 on Tuesday (Oct. 25) at the Nanea G.C. in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.

M. Tennis. 60th Southern California Intercollegiate Championships Sets Up At Marks Stadium

The 60th edition of the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships comes to Troy this week as men’s tennis players converge on Marks Stadium for competition running Oct. 27-31. The long-standing collegiate tennis event dates back to 1957, when SoCal tennis powers USC and UCLA each captured inaugural trophies. USC’s Alex Olmedo won the very first singles title, and Bruins Myron Franks and Michael Green grabbed the doubles title that year.

W. Volleyball. No. 24 USC Stays Home to Face Utah and Colorado

The No. 24-ranked USC women's volleyball team (14-7, 6-4 Pac-12) opens up the second half of its Pac-12 schedule as host to No. 21 Utah (15-6, 6-4) and Colorado (12-8, 4-6) this weekend. The Women of Troy take on the Utes on Friday (Oct. 28) at 8 p.m. PT in a match that will be carried live on Pac-12 Los Angeles and Pac-12 Mountain. The Trojans and the Buffaloes will take the court on Saturday (Oct. 29) for a 5 p.m. start. In 15 years under head coach Mick Haley, USC has produced a second-half conference record that was at least identical if not better than the first go-round in 12 seasons. Haley puts a high premium on in-season improvement; something the Trojans will need to do in order to secure a spot in the NCAA tournament.

W. Soccer. Prudhomme Earns Second Straight, Fourth Overall Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week Honor

USC senior goalkeeper Sammy Jo Prudhomme was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week for the fourth time this season, it was announced today by the Conference office.

No. 4 seeded Trojan Thibault Forget went up against the tournament’s No. 2 seed in today’s singles title match at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships in Malibu. The fourth straight year with a Trojan in the singles final, this one didn’t go Forget’s way as his six-match singles win streak came to a close today.

USC junior cornerback-wide receiver-returner Adoree' Jackson has been name one of 16 semifinalists for the 2016 Jim Thorpe Award, given to the top defensive back in college football by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame, as well as one of 19 quarterfinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, presented by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation to the best college defensive player who makes the biggest IMPACT on his team both on and off the field.

USC senior Zoë Katz forged a path to the championship match of the ITA Southwest Regionals as she upset Pepperdine's No. 123 Dzina Milovanovic 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4 in her semifinal match today (Oct. 23). Tomorrow (Oct. 24), Katz will take on Pepperdine's Ashley Lahey in the final, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. PT.

Football. USC Football Hosts California In Thursday Night Clash

USC welcomes long-time foe California to the Coliseum for a Thursday night ESPN clash (just Troy’s fourth non-holiday Thursday game there, all since 2013 and the second against the Golden Bears). Overall anywhere on Thursdays, USC has won nearly 70% of the time. Because the game is on a school day, on-campus tailgating will not be allowed and parking will be restricted, but there are many alternatives available for fans (see USC has not lost to Cal since 2003 (the Bears have averaged just 15 points in those defeats) and not at home since 2000 (7 wins in a row in the Coliseum). It will be Troy’s 103rd meeting with the Golden Bears, the team it has played more than any opponent.
