M. Basketball. USC Returns To Action Hosting Pepperdine Sunday

The USC Trojans (8-0) will host the Pepperdine Waves (4-5) at the Galen Center on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. USC’s 8-0 start is its best since the 2000-01 Trojans also began the season 8-0 en route to a 24-10 record and an NCAA Elite Eight appearance. Those are the two best starts to a season by a Trojan team since the 1971 team began 16-0 on its way to a 24-2 record. USC has not played since Dec. 3, its longest scheduled layoff of the season.

USC All-American junior cornerback-wide receiver-returner Adoree’ Jackson was named the winner of the 2016 Thorpe Award as the nation’s top defensive back.

USC junior cornerback-wide receiver-returner Adoree' Jackson has been named an All-American first teamer by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Sporting News, Sports Illustrated and Jackson was selected as a defensive back by 3 of the outlets and as an all-purpose player by Sports Illustrated. He also made Walter Camp's second team as a kick returner, Sports Illustrated's second team as a returner and's third team as a kick returner and as a punt returner. Senior offensive tackle Zach Banner also made the All-American first team. Jackson and Banner are USC's 164th and 165th All-American first team selections.

M. Water Polo. Two Trojans Take Spots As Cutino Award Finalists

For the second time in program history, the USC men’s water polo team has doubled up on finalists for the prestigious Peter J. Cutino Award — collegiate water polo’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. For their powerful efforts in propelling the Trojans to a 12th straight appearance in the NCAA final, goalie McQuin Baron and driver Blake Edwards both find themselves in line for the game’s highest honor. Both juniors, Baron and Edwards represent the balanced strength of the USC program in 2016. Baron and Edwards’ selection as finalists make it a group of nine Trojans to have earned that honor in program history.

2016 Olympic medalists Nia Ali and Dalilah Muhammad were honored at USC's 2017 Out of the Blocks Awards Banquet which celebrated the 2016 track and field season and previewed the upcoming campaign at The Town & Gown on campus on Dec. 4.

The No. 7 Trojans defeated No. 1 West Virginia in the NCAA Women's College Cup Final, propelling the team to its second NCAA title in women's soccer on Sunday afternoon at Avaya Stadium.

M. Water Polo. USC Falls In Overtime In NCAA Championship Game

The USC men's water polo team saw a two-goal advantage melt away as host California forced today's NCAA Championship bout into overtime. The Bears were the beneficiaries of some big goals in OT, crafting a lead with two goals in the final minute of the first overtime frame and pressing on to finish out an 11-8 victory and claim the 2016 national championship. USC -- in its 12th straight trip to the NCAA title match -- came up short of a possible 10th championship while the Bears claim their 14th men's crown. The Trojans wrap up 2016 with a 24-2 overall record.

Football. No. 9 USC Football To Play No. 5 Penn State In 2017 Rose Bowl

The No. 9-ranked USC football team (9-3) will make an unprecedented 34th trip to the Rose Bowl when it faces No. 5 Penn State (11-2) of the Big Ten on Jan. 2 in Pasadena, Calif. The 2017 Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual will kick off at 2 p.m. PT on ESPN.

W. Basketball. USC Women Rattle Off 111-95 Victory At Sacramento State

The USC women’s basketball team won out in a mad scramble in Sacramento, outshooting the host Hornets in an all-out shootout for an 111-95 road win that pumps up the Trojans’ overall record to 7-1. Five Women of Troy hit double digits in the fast-paced win, led by a career-high 24 points from Aliyah Mazyck. The high-scoring affair also saw freshman Minyon Moore serve up 15 assists — second most by a Trojan in program history to stand just behind 17 tallied by Rhonda Windham back in 1982. USC’s 111 points scored also was the sixth most in program history, last hit in 1981.

M. Basketball. Southern California beats BYU 91-84 to remain undefeated

Jordan McLaughlin scored 24 points and Southern California defeated BYU 91-84 on Saturday night in the second game of the inaugural Hoophall LA doubleheader at Staples Center. No. 8 Gonzaga beat 16th-ranked Arizona 69-62 in the first game. Shaqquan Aaron added a season-high 19 points and Elijah Stewart had 16 points for the Trojans (8-0), who equaled their best start since 2000-01. They joined Gonzaga, Saint Mary's and UCLA as the only West Coast teams that are still undefeated.

The USC men's water polo team staked its claim on a 12th consecutive trip to the NCAA title match with a resounding 19-4 semifinal victory over Harvard today at Spieker Aquatics Complex in Berkeley, Calif. Now 24-1 overall, the top-ranked Trojans will carry a 16-game win streak into tomorrow's national championship bout, which is set for 3 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 4) against host Cal. The Trojans are looking to capture the program's 10th national championship on the men's side.
