Media Again Picks Gamecocks as SEC Champs, Wilson Player of the Year

A panel of both SEC and national media members picked South Carolina to win the 2018 SEC women's basketball championship, the league office announced today. It is the fourth-straight season the Gamecocks have topped the preseason media voting, and, if the prediction holds, would give South Carolina five consecutive conference championships. The media also selected senior forward A'ja Wilson as its SEC Preseason Player of the Year, an award she has won at the end of the last two seasons.

Gamecocks to Play Six SEC Games on ESPN Channels

Reigning national champion South Carolina women's basketball will play six of its 16 SEC regular-season games on either ESPN2 or ESPNU this season, the SEC office announced today. Six other league games will be on SEC Network with the remaining four outings on SEC Network+ via the WatchESPN app. The Gamecocks' full non-conference TV schedule will be released at a later date, but ESPN did announce that South Carolina's Feb. 1 game against UConn will tip off at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

SEC Releases 2017-18 Women’s Basketball Schedule

South Carolina will host six NCAA Tournament qualifiers among its eight SEC home games in 2017-18 per the conference schedule released by the league office today. The National Champion Gamecocks have home-and-home series with Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee, while Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU and Texas A&M will also visit Colonial Life Arena during conference play, which kicks off on Dec. 31 this season.
