USC student-athletes earned a departmental GPA of 3.245 for the Fall 2016 semester. It marked the 20th-consecutive semester in which Gamecock student-athletes have combined for a GPA above 3.0.

The athletes were able to run the bases, take batting practice, play catch and receive a tour of Founders Park. Gamecock senior right-hander Reed Scott helped to coordinate the event as he worked as an intern with the Special Olympics state office this past summer.
