Gamecocks Maintain Rankings In Day Two

South Carolina swimming and diving remained solid in the second day of competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta. Several Gamecocks earned spots in the A-Finals of their respective events, and the team earned two first-place finishes throughout the day. Both the men and women maintained their spots in the rankings during day two with the men in third and the women in fifth.

Gamecocks Deliver 12 First-Place Finishes vs. No. 9 Auburn

South Carolina swimming and diving tallied 13 season-best times in Saturday’s home meet against No. 9 Auburn. The Gamecocks showed endurance after one of their toughest weeks of training to date, taking first in 12 total events. The No. 22 Gamecock women took first place in six events, fell 166.5-133.5. The No. 20 men also recorded six first-place finishes against the No. 9 team, taking a 164-131 loss.



Swim & Dive Takes on No. 9 Auburn at Home Saturday

South Carolina swimming and diving is set to face its third Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent of the season on Saturday. The No. 20 (men) and No. 22 (women) Gamecocks will compete against the Auburn Tigers, whose men and women are both ranked ninth, in the Carolina Natatorium. The meet will begin with diving at 10 a.m. and swimming events beginning at 11 a.m.

Grant Summers Named SEC Male Freshman of the Week

After only four weeks of collegiate competition, South Carolina freshman diver Grant Summers earned his first weekly award from the Southeastern Conference, named the league’s swimming and diving Male Freshman of the Week. Summers was chosen for the award after his best meet of the season at home against North Carolina.

No. 20 South Carolina men's swimming and diving started homecoming weekend with a 168-132 victory over North Carolina Thursday afternoon at Carolina Natatorium. South Carolina's No. 22 women's swimming and diving team also had a strong meet, but fell short to the No. 19 Tar Heel women, 159-141.

South Carolina swimming and diving took home two victories at Cincinnati on Saturday. The men claimed their first win of the 2017-18 season with a 167-128 win over the Bearcats, while the women tallied their third victory of the fall by winning 178-117.

The Gamecocks will look to bounce back from a loss at Purdue when they face the Bearcats on Saturday. The meet will start with diving at 10 a.m. before swimming begins at noon ET.
