Vincent Finishes 12th in 3-Meter World Championships Finals

South Carolina diver Julia Vincent competed in the 3-meter finals at the 2017 FINA World Championships on Friday in Budapest, Hungary. The Gauteng, South Africa, native finished 12th overall in the event, capping a World Championships in which she became the first South African in history to advance to the final round at a world diving championships.

Senior Gamecock Julia Vincent qualified for the 3-meter springboard finals Thursday at the 2017 FINA World Diving Championships. Earlier on Thursday, Vincent made history by becoming the first South African in history to qualify for the World Championships semifinals.

South Carolina diving’s Julia Vincent represented her home country of South Africa this afternoon at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. The senior competed in the women’s 1-meter springboard, finishing with a five-dive score of 221.80 to finish 28th in the preliminary round.



Barksdale, Bekemeyer Lead Gamecocks at Phillips 66 Nationals

Six members of the University of South Carolina swimming & diving program were in action over the past week at the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships. Emma Barksdale, Emily Cornell and Kersten Dirrane swam for the Carolina women’s squad, while Cody Bekemeyer, Caleb Tosh and Kevin Liu represented the Gamecock men.

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America released its Scholar All-America teams Wednesday, and the South Carolina swimming & diving program was once again honored for its excellence in the classroom. Both the men’s and women’s teams received Scholar All-America Team honors, while 20 student-athletes were named Scholar All-Americans.

Gamecock Student-Athletes Set For Graduation This Weekend

South Carolina Athletics celebrates 104 current and former student-athletes who will participate in graduation ceremonies this weekend at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks have continued to excel in the classroom during the 2016-17 school year, as 90 student-athletes were named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, while 78 earned a spot on the Winter Honor Roll. Student-athletes completed another semester of achievement in the classroom last fall, as the group combined for a departmental GPA of 3.245, marking the 20th-consecutive semester that the Gamecocks combined for a GPA above 3.0.
