Toreros host LMU for WCC home opener

The Toreros have their first two WCC home matches this week. They host Loyola Marymount on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in a match that will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU and the WatchESPN app. On Saturday, it's "Pack The Pavilion Day" for the Toreros' noon match against No. 9 BYU, the reigning WCC Champs.



Toreros sweep Santa Clara 3-0

The Toreros had a hitting percentage of .308 and held the Broncos to a .243 clip. USD out-blocked Santa Clara 9-7 with Addie Picha totaling eight blocks. Kristen Gengenbacher had her second straight double-double, recording 31 assists and a team-high 10 digs.



Toreros begin WCC play with 3-1 win at USF

Jayden Kennedy and Roxie Wiblin led the team with 14 kills each and Kaity Edwards chipped in 11 on a .524 hitting percentage. Kristen Gengenbacher notched her third double-double of the year, leading the team with 45 assists and 12 digs.



Volleyball kicks off WCC play in the Bay Area

The Toreros enter the conference schedule with a 7-3 record and a No. 17 national ranking. All three of the Toreros' losses have come to teams currently ranked in the top 20, while all seven of their wins have been sweeps.



Toreros sweep past Aztecs

The 17th-ranked Torero volleyball team (7-3) swept San Diego State 3-0 in front of 1,262 fans inside of the Jenny Craig Pavilion Tuesday evening. Addie Picha and Kaity Edwards led the Toreros with 11 kills each, which was a career-high for Picha.

The Toreros host cross-town rival San Diego State Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion. The match will be streamed live on TheW.tv with Jack Cronin on the call. This will be the Toreros' final non-conference match and then they will have a nine day break before beginning conference play at San Francisco September 21st.



Toreros sweep Green Bay

The Toreros (6-3) earned their sixth sweep of the season Saturday evening, beating Green Bay 3-0 in their final match of the Utah Volleyball Classic. Jayden Kennedy led the Toreros with 14 kills on an efficient .591 hitting percentage, helping USD win 25-17, 25-21, 25-15.



Toreros tame Tigers with 3-0 sweep

Jayden Kennedy once again led the Toreros in kills. She had ten on a .450 hitting percentage. Addie Picha tied a career-high with eight kills while hitting .500. Roxie Wiblin (six), Lauren Fuller (six) and Kaity Edwards (five) also helped the Toreros earn their fifth sweep of the season.



Toreros lose nail biter at No. 18 Utah

Jayden Kennedy (20-42) and Roxie Wiblin (17-37) both set career-highs for kills and attacks, while Kaity Edwards tied her career best with 14 kills in 25 attacks. Lizzy Tardieu had a career-high 16 digs while just missing a double-double with nine assists. Senior setter Kristen Gengenbacher recorded her second double-double in a row with a season-high 54 assists and 15 digs.



Toreros set for Utah Classic this weekend

The Toreros head to Salt Lake City for the Utah Classic, which will be their final non-conference tournament of the year. They kick off the tournament Friday evening against No. 18 Utah at 6:00 p.m. (PT) and will then play two matches on Saturday beginning with Missouri at 9:00 a.m. and then Green Bay at 4:00 p.m. (PT)



No. 4 Texas rallies past Toreros 3-1

The No. 17 USD Volleyball team (4-2) fell to No. 4 Texas 3-1 in front of a record-breaking crowd at the Jenny Craig Pavilion Saturday evening. The Toreros won the first set 25-20, but the Longhorns responded to win the next three 19-25, 10-25, 16-25.



Toreros stay hot, sweep Villanova

Kaity Edwards and Roxie Wiblin each has 12 kills as USD won 25-19, 25-17, 25-17. Wiblin’s 12 kills were a career-high as were her three aces. Kristen Gengenbacher had 27 assists and Anna Newsome chipped in 10. Lizzy Tardieu once again led the team with 14 digs.

The No. 17 USD Volleyball team (3-1) had an emphatic start to their 2017 home season, sweeping Georgia Tech 3-0 Friday afternoon inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion. After losing the season opener to a very tough UCLA squad, the Toreros have swept their past three opponents.

“I’m happy to see we are in that consideration every year here in the past 15 years,” Petrie said, “and that’s always exciting to have established that reputation, where no matter who we have returning and no matter who is here, people recognize the program has the ability to be in that top group. That feels really good. Of course, you’ve got to prove yourself every year, and that’s what we’re busy with now."



Toreros host #4 Texas as part of USD Invitational

The Toreros will be hosting the USD Invitational this weekend, hosting Georgia Tech, Villanova & No. 4 Texas. The Toreros host the Yellow Jackets for their home opener Friday at 1:30 p.m. and then on Saturday will take on Villanova at 10:00 a.m. and No. 4 Texas at 7:30 p.m. In total, the four teams combine for six matches over the weekend, with two being played on Friday and four on Saturday.
