Mackenna Briggs made the All-MPSF first team in the 500 free and 200 free with record-breaking times, while also making the second team in the 200 fly. Bri Jurries was a first team selection in the 200 IM and the 200 breast and a second team selection in the 100 breast.

Fri, 17 Feb 2017 21:21:00 EDTMackenna Briggs broke a school record in the 200 free Wednesday evening that was set in 2011 (Sarah Geerdes), but that time only stood for 48 hours after the sophomore bested it Friday evening, finishing in 1:48.13 and taking second place in the first event of the night. This beat her Wednesday time by 0.11 seconds and the previous record by 0.64 seconds.

Briggs finished in 4:51.08, good for third place. This broke Ashley Swart’s record of 4:52.04, set back in 2005.

Sophomore Mackenna Briggs also set a record in the 200 free, swimming the first leg of the 800 free relay in 1:48.24.
Tue, 14 Feb 2017 11:41:00 EDTThe USD swim and dive team will compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship Meet this week at East Los Angeles Community College. The swimming events begin with an evening session on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and continue through Saturday night. The diving portion of the championships will take place at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena, Calif.

Danielle Taylor had three top three individual finishes. She took first in the 100 fly (56.71), second in the 100 free (52.26), and third in the 50 free (24.48).
