Michael Turner Named to NSCAA All-Region Team

Turner, a three-time All-WCC selection, led the Toreros in points (19) and assists (seven). He was named the San Diego Hall of Champions Star on the month for September, the second time he was earned that honor. A four-year starter, he finishes his career with 47 points, scoring 15 goals and dishing out 17 assists.

Four members of the USD men’s soccer team were named to the WCC All-Academic Team, the conference office announced Wednesday morning. Michael Turner was one of 11 named to the All-Academic team, while senior Merlin Hoeckendorff and juniors Djordje Babic and Patrick McGrath were honorable mention selections.

Turner, who had an assist earlier in the match, had a penalty kick blocked just a minute earlier, but redeemed himself with his sixth goal of the season.

Miguel Berry was named the WCC Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. The freshman forward recorded a hat trick at San Francisco Sunday evening, scoring all three of the Toreros' goals to become the first USD player with a hat trick since 2002.
