USD Football ChangeFUNDING Campaign: Making Team History!

USD Football is proud to announce the launch of Making Team History, a ChangeFUNDING campaign seeking to increase the amount of alumni, family and friends of the program supporting the 2016 during this historic season. The goal of $9,942 is based on the number of miles traveled by the 2016 PFL Champions to reach their rivals, including the upcoming trip to face the No. 1 seed, North Dakota State.



Devyn Bryant & Max Michaels Named Academic All-Americans

Senior Devyn Bryant and junior Max Michaels were named to the Academic All-American® Division I Football team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both were second team selections.



Six Toreros recognized by PFL for Academic & Athletic Success

The PFL announced its Academic PFL teams today and six Toreros were recognized for their success in the classroom as well as on the field. Senior CB Devyn Bryant (San Diego, Calif., 3.54 GPA, Mechanical Engineering) and junior NB Max Michaels (Poway, Calif., 3.93 GPA, Accountancy) were named to the 1st team for the second consecutive year.



Toreros take on No. 1 seed North Dakota State on Saturday

The No. 24/25 USD Toreros (10-1), under the direction of fourth year head coach Dale Lindsey, will take on the No. 4/3 North Dakota State Bison (10-1) this coming Saturday, December 3rd, in a 2nd round FCS playoff game. Kickoff is slated for 12:35 p.m. (PST) at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome (18,700).



Eighteen Toreros Earn All-PFL Recognition

Fifty-seven student athletes have been named to the 24th All-Pioneer Football League teams, Tuesday. All selections were made by the league's coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes. San Diego had a league-high nine players named first team, with four earning second team honors and another five recognized as honorable mention.



Hodges and Lindsey earn PFL Major Awards

The Pioneer Football League announced its end-of-the year major awards today, and senior running back Jonah Hodges (Santa Cruz, Calif.) was selected the Offensive Player of the Year. Dale Lindsey was named the PFL Coach of the Year for the second time.



Toreros stun Cal Poly 35-21 for FCS Playoff victory

In wet and muddy conditions at Alex G. Spanos Stadium caused by rain most of the day leading up to game time, the No. 24 Toreros stunned host No. 21 Cal Poly 35-21. With the win the Toreros (10-1) advance to second round play next Saturday, Dec. 3rd, with a 12:30 p.m. (Pacific) contest at No. 1 seed North Dakota State (10-1). Senior RB Jonah Hodges paced the effort with 171 yards rushing on 35 carries, including three touchdowns.



No. 24 Toreros play at No. 21 Cal Poly Saturday

No. 24 Toreros play at No. 21 Cal Poly on Saturday in first round of FCS Playoffs

San Diego (9-1), which earned the PFL automatic qualifier by winning the league outright with its 8-0 record, is making its second FCS Playoff appearance in three years and will play at Cal Poly (7-4) on Saturday, November 26th. The game is slated for 4:00 p.m. at Alex G. Spanos Stadium in San Luis Obispo and will be streamed live on ESPN3.



Toreros win PFL Championship outright with 57-21 win over Campbell

The USD Toreros handed Campbell a 50-21 defeat today to earn the outright PFL Championship with a perfect 8-0 record. It marks the first undefeated PFL run since Dayton's 8-0 mark in 2010. The last time USD went undefeated was in 2006 when the Toreros finished 7-0 and 11-1 overall. The 9-1 Toreros will find out their first round opponent in the upcoming FCS Playoffs on Sunday morning.



Toreros play at Campbell with outright PFL title on the line

(STATS) - The 30th anniversary season of the Eddie Robinson Award features 15 finalists for FCS Coach of the Year. USD head coach Dale Lindsey, wrapping up his 4th season, appears on the list for the second time. The 8-1 Toreros have clinched an FCS playoff bid for the second time in three years, and their third straight Pioneer Football League title, and fifth in six years.

Toreros heading to FCS Playoffs for second time in three years

It was Senior Day at Torero Stadium and the Toreros continued their dominant play in the Pioneer Football League with today's 42-7 win over the Stetson Hatters. The victory assures the Toreros (8-1, 7-0 PFL) a share of their 8th PFL Championship, and guarantees the league's automatic qualification into the 2016 FCS Playoffs.



Lawrence joins Walter Payton Award Watch List

Sophomore quarterback Anthony Lawrence (La Mesa, Calif.) received good news this morning with the announcement that he is one of eight football players to be added to the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award Watch List. The Payton Award, in its 30th season, honors the offensive player of the year in the FCS.
