Shannon Soares Named Associate Athletics Director for Administration and Varsity Sports

Georgetown University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Lee Reed announced the promotion of Shannon Soares to associate athletics director for administration and varsity sports. Soares will step down from her position as head field hockey coach and transition to the newly-created administrative role on Jan. 1, 2018. A national search is currently underway for GU’s next field hockey head coach.

Farley Named to All-BIG EAST Second Team

Georgetown field hockey freshman Anna Farley (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) was named to the ALL-BIG EAST Second Team on Thursday morning. Farley is the first freshman in program history to earn All-BIG EAST honors and the fifth student-athlete to receive Second Team honors.

Osborne Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Georgetown field hockey freshman Cami Osborne (Newtown Square, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon. Osborne scored one goal in each game over the 1-1 weekend.

Field Hockey Recognized Three Seniors on Senior Day

On Saturday evening, three seniors on the Georgetown field hockey team were recognized before they played their final game of the regular season against La Salle at Cooper Field. The three seniors that were honored were Megan Parsons (Chester Springs, Pa./Villa Maria), Mackenzie Schneider (Norfolk, Va./Maury) and Jo Hawkins (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus), who have played a significant role in the program’s forward progress.

Georgetown Wins in Season Finale, 5-4, Against La Salle

The Georgetown field hockey team closed out the regular season Saturday evening under the lights at Cooper Field against La Salle. The Hoyas won in the season finale, 5-4, scoring four of their five goals in the first half. GU finished the season 9-10 overall and 1-6 in the BIG EAST Conference.

Getz Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Georgetown field hockey sophomore Lindsay Getz (Northfield, Ill./Loyola Academy) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon. Despite a pair of losses over the weekend, Getz managed to keep the team going with two goals, one that was a major key in each game. She currently has eight goals this season, ranking her second on the Hoyas.
