The Georgetown University women’s basketball team came back in the second quarter to cruise to a 72-54 victory over the Loyola University (Md.) Greyhounds Thursday evening at Reitz Arena. With the victory, the Hoyas improved to 2-0 on the young season.

The Georgetown University women’s basketball team was one of 30 schools selected to be part of the NCAA’s Women’s Basketball Advancement Program. Wintrust Arena, located in downtown Chicago, will be the home of the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament presented by Jeep for the next three years. Slated to open this fall, Wintrust Arena will be the home of DePaul basketball while also featuring a diverse, year-round calendar of events including national concert tours and conventions. The 2018 BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament is set for March 3-6, with dates for the 2019 and 2020 events to be announced.

Former Georgetown University women’s basketball standout Rebekkah Brunson set a WNBA record Wednesday evening becoming the first played in league history to win five WNBA Championships. Brunson and the Minnesota Lynx defeated the Los Angeles Sparks, 85-76, to win the 2017 championship in five games.
