Men’s Tennis Competes at Penn Invitational

The Georgetown University men's tennis team competed at the Penn Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa., this past weekend. Facing four different opponents, the squad had a number of impressive individual results led by the pair of senior Yannick Mahlangu (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley High School) and junior Peter Beatty (Portland, Ore./Middlesex School) who were dominant at No. 2 doubles.

Hoyas Sweep UDC, 9-0

The Georgetown University men's tennis team opened the 2016-17 season with a match at the University of the District of Columbia on Wednesday afternoon. The Hoyas managed the 9-0 victory to begin the year.

Witmer Wins New Balance High School Tennis Championship

Incoming freshman Ian Witmer (Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School) won the New Balance High School Tennis Championship for the Boys’ 18 Singles division last week. The unseeded player battled through six matches to capture the title in Boston, Mass. He will come to the Hilltop and play for Head Coach Gordie Ernst this fall.

ITA Names Hoya Men and Women to All-Academic Squad

Both the Georgetown University men’s and women’s tennis teams have been named 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic squads. Additionally, 11 Hoyas received 2016 ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition including seven on the women’s side and four on the men’s.

Pottish Named Men’s and Women’s Tennis Assistant Coach

Georgetown University Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach Gordie Ernst has named Dillon Pottish the new assistant coach for both squads for the 2016-17 school year. Pottish comes to the Hilltop from Emory University where he was a graduate assistant for the Eagles for two years. Pottish will assist Ernst in all aspects of both the men’s and women’s programs.
