Women's Basketball Bows Out of WNIT

WASHINGTON - In the first meeting between nearby foes George Washington and Navy since 1987, the Colonials and Mids met in first round WNIT action at the Charles E. Smith Center on Friday night. The teams took turns controlling the game as both sides held double-digit leads in the overtime contest. After each side owned two quarters - with GW taking the second and third while Navy held serve in the first and fourth - it took an extra session to decide it. Ultimately Navy prevailed, 61-51.

RICHMOND, Va. - In eerily-similar fashion to last season's Atlantic 10 Championship game, the George Washington Colonials and Duquesne Dukes went back and forth across a physical 40 minutes of basketball. With the Colonials assuming a nine-point lead with just over six minutes to play in the fourth quarter, it looked as if the result from one year ago would be the same. However, Duquesne refused to let history repeat itself and rallied down the stretch for a 62-58 win over the Colonials in the Atlantic 10 Championship quarterfinals on Friday evening at the Richmond Coliseum

WASHINGTON - The Dayton women's basketball team came to Foggy Bottom on Sunday as hot as any team in country outside of Connecticut with an 11-1 mark in conference and as the winners of 11 straight games, having gone undefeated in the calendar year with its last loss coming on December 29th to Virginia. That run came to a screeching halt at the Smith Center though, as GW takes the throne as the A-10's new hottest team.
