Colorado State accepts invitation to 20th Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Dec. 22

The Colorado State Rams, under the direction of second-year head coach Mike Bobo, have accepted an invitation to play in the 20th edition of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 22 in Boise, Idaho. CSU, with a record of 7-5 (5-3 in Mountain West play) will face Sun Belt Conference foe Idaho (8-4; 6-2), with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. MST at Albertsons Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN and broadcast nationally by ESPN Radio, as well as over the CSU Rams Radio Network by Learfield.



Rams await Sunday's bowl announcement

The Colorado State Rams, at 7-5 (5-3 MW), have qualified for a bowl game for the fourth year in a row, the second-longest streak in school history. Sunday the team will learn its bowl destination and opponent. Tickets and travel packages will be made available so fans can plan their trip to cheer on the Rams in the bowl game!

It took 90 years and 40 days or 930 games for the oldest record in the CSU record books to fall, but on a wet November 26, 2016 night in San Diego, Robert Ruiz, a senior wide receiver and return specialist from El Cajon, California took an Aztec punt at the Ram 9-yard line and ran the ball back 91 yards, beating Glen Davis' ancient record by one yard.

Friend named Broyles Award nominee for 2nd year in a row

For the second consecutive season, Colorado State offensive coordinator Will Friend is a nominee for the Broyles Award. The Broyles Award honors college football’s top assistant coach. The award was established in 1996 to recognize legendary head football coach Frank Broyles, who had a track record of producing some of the most successful assistant coaches in college football history. Friend is one of 40 nominees, announced Wednesday by the Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation.

In the 262nd and final game at Hughes Stadium, the Colorado State Rams beat the New Mexico Lobos 49-31 to improve to 6-5 (4-3 Mountain West) on the season, and become bowl eligible for the fourth consecutive season. A game in which the Rams did not trail, Colorado State recorded a season-high 576 yards of total offense, and faced just four third downs the entire night. There were upwards of 100 former players and coaches in attendance to celebrate the final game at Hughes Stadium, and were honored throughout the game.
