Supreme Court's Ruling: A Reason for Sorrow

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 09:10:48 -0700

Jesus died so that heterosexual and homosexual sinners might be saved. Jesus created sexuality, and has a clear will for how it is to be experienced in holiness and joy.

His will is that a man might leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and that the two become one flesh (Mark 10:6-9). In this union, sexuality finds its God-appointed meaning, whether in personal-physical unification, symbolic representation, sensual jubilation, or fruitful procreation.

For those who have forsaken God's path of sexual fulfillment, and walked into homosexual intercourse or heterosexual extramarital fornication or adultery, Jesus offers astonishing mercy.

Such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11)

But today this salvation from sinful sexual acts was not embraced. Instead there was massive institutionalization of sin.

Wording increases/decreases support for assisted suicide, Gallup finds

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 14:52:06 -0700

By Dave Andrusko, National Right to Life News --

The headline reporting on a Gallup poll is accurate as far as it goes but incomplete- "U.S. Support for Euthanasia Hinges on How It's Described: Support is at low ebb on the basis of wording that mentions 'suicide.'"

Let's talk about what the headline highlights. The Gallup graphic is reproduced below and it includes the wording. According to Lydia Saad:

PRINCETON, NJ -- In the same month that Vermont became the fourth state to legalize physician-assisted suicide, a May 2-7 Gallup survey finds 70% of Americans in favor of allowing doctors to hasten a terminally ill patient's death when the matter is described as allowing doctors to "end the patient's life by some painless means." At the same time, far fewer -- 51% -- support it when the process is described as doctors helping a patient "commit suicide."

Gallup May 2-7, 2013

To her credit, Saad spells out the key differences between the wording in the two questions:

Gallup's question with the softer description of euthanasia -- calling it "ending a patient's life by some painless means" -- also specifies that both the patient and his or her family requested it. The "suicide" version says the patient requests assistance from a doctor, without referencing other family members.
Either way, the question is wrapped in a cocoon of compassion that softens naturally resistance. But there's much more....

Secret OH Dept of Health docs reveal 47 botched abortions, countless safety violations & more

Wed, 27 May 2015 15:31:39 -0700

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 26, 2015/Christian Newswire -- Ohio recently made headlines with reports that half the abortion clinics in that state have closed and several others have curtailed services, reducing abortion numbers to the lowest since 1976. "When abortion clinics close, abortions decline and lives are saved. It's as simple as that," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and co-author with Cheryl Sullenger of the book Abortion Free. "We have worked in Ohio on a number of projects in cooperation with local leaders that, in part, contributed to this decline, but more must be done." Newman notes that there is great cause for concern regarding hazardous conditions and practices at the Ohio abortion clinics that are still open. Operation Rescue has released a new special investigative report detailing deteriorating conditions and horrific injuries at Ohio's eight remaining abortion facilities. The report is based on secret records from the Ohio Department of Health that have never before been made public, that show that at least 47 abortion-related medical emergencies or complications took place at the eight abortion clinics since 2011, including the abortion-related death of a 22-year old African-American woman named Lakisha Wilson. The documents also detail an alarming laundry list of life-threatening safety hazards at those same abortion facilities. "Abortion complications and horrendous conditions as detailed in these documents are not confined to Ohio abortion clinics. We see these kinds of things in every state," said Newman. "Ohio is just a microcosm of the dangers that exist at abortion clinics throughout the nation." Other Ohio Department of Health records show that abortion facilities have singled out poor urban women from the African-American community as targets for aggressive abortion marketing and that African-American women are the ones who are most impacted by the abortion cartel's substandard conditions and practices. "Operation Rescue calls on the Ohio Department of Health to stop turning a blind eye to dangerous conditions and practitioners, stop issuing variances to those who cannot qualify for hospital transfer agreements, and shut down as many abortion facilities as necessary to protect the lives and health of Ohio women, starting with the Preterm clinic in Cleveland," said Newman. "Abortion is Not a Health Issue" ad campaign reaches out to those in NYC

Thu, 21 May 2015 15:46:29 -0700

ALBANY, N.Y., May 21, 2015 /Christian Newswire -- A powerful new ad campaign, addressing the heart and soul issue of abortion, has launched in New York's capital city of Albany. Bus shelter posters and a grassroots ground campaign will share the "ABORTION IS NOT A HEALTH ISSUE. IT'S A HEART AND SOUL ISSUE." messaging throughout the summer. The Radiance Foundation, in collaboration with an alliance of community-based organizations in the Albany area, has created the initiative to help prevent abortion and reach out to those who are post-abortive. "The violence of abortion touches people emotionally, psychologically, physically, and spiritually," says Radiance Foundation co-founder Bethany Bomberger, a mother of both adopted and biological children. "So many women feel all alone and are often never told of the life-affirming options that value them and their child. This campaign lets them know that there is help. And for those who've made the irreversible decision of abortion, there is hope." New York is the home of Planned Parenthood, the nation's leading abortion chain responsible for over 327,000 abortions every year nationwide. There were 94,326 abortions reported in NY in 2013, with the majority of abortions among women ages 20-24. There are 225 abortion facilities in NY, but these are not places where mother and child are valued and protected. highlights local pregnancy care centers, churches, and other community-based organizations that have committed themselves to caring for those considering abortion or the aftermath of such a decision. "Men regret abortion, too. There are three precious lives involved here: the mother, the father and the child," says Ryan Bomberger, Chief Creative Officer of The Radiance Foundation. "Some of my colleagues are post-abortive, and their stories of transformation are incredibly powerful. We created this campaign to reach out with love and help people connect with the ultimate source of Hope and Healing - Jesus Christ." This campaign was made possible by prolife advocates in the Albany area who want to promote a culture of life that values every human life, born and unborn. [...]

Pro-life, religious groups resist illegal DC bills; ADF ready to defend those affected

Tue, 05 May 2015 15:31:26 -0700

Monday, May 04, 2015/Washington/Alliance Defense Fund --

Alliance Defending Freedom and other pro-life organizations released a joint statement Monday as a District of Columbia law is set to go into effect that could force such groups to operate contrary to their missions and beliefs.

Partly due to the agreement of many people, including the former D.C. mayor, that the law raises serious concerns under the First Amendment and federal law, the D.C. Council retreated from its original purpose for the law and passed a temporary measure stating that it will not require any employer in the District to provide insurance coverage for abortion, contraceptives, or any other "reproductive health decision." The temporary measure will expire in 225 days, however, and therefore leaves pro-life employers open to unconstitutional treatment by the government.

"Pro-life organizations in our nation's capital should not be forced to pay for abortions or hire those who oppose their pro-life beliefs," said ADF Senior Counsel Casey Mattox. "While the D.C. Council has retreated from this law's original goal, which was to force pro-life organizations to pay for abortions in violation of their conscience, RHNDA remains an unnecessary and illegal attack on pro-life conscience that Congress must stop and that we will fight, if necessary, in the courts."

In addition to ADF, the signers of the joint statement include representatives from the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, Americans United for Life, Americans United for Life Action, March for Life, Concerned Women for America, Susan B. Anthony List, Family Research Council, and the Association of Christian Schools International.

The Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act of 2014 still prohibits even pro-life and religious organizations from "discriminating" against employees and potential employees for any "reproductive health" decision, including elective abortions. If the District does not make its temporary amendment to the law permanent, it could also force employers to provide health insurance for elective abortions regardless of the organization's religious beliefs or pro-life mission....

Defending the right to life before the European Court

Fri, 01 May 2015 12:51:29 -0700

Thursday, April 30, 2015/STRASBOURG, France/Alliance Defense Fund --

ADF International filed a brief with the European Court of Human Rights Thursday that makes legal arguments in defense of unborn children. The court granted ADF International permission to intervene in the case of Lia Shioshvili, a Georgian national who gave birth to a stillborn child after Russian authorities mistreated her....

Shioshvili moved to Russia with her four children in April 2003. In November 2006, when she was eight months pregnant with her fifth child, Russian authorities decided to expel her from the country.

Over a period of several weeks, Shioshvili attempted to travel back to Georgia with her children. She experienced numerous problems at the hands of migration officers, who left her in the cold for prolonged periods of time, failed to offer her food and water, and refused to let her take a seat as she waited for hours to have her documents checked. As a result, Shioshvili's health worsened. She suffered cold, fever, depression, and repeated asthma attacks. Days later she experienced severe abdominal pain and gave birth to a stillborn child.

In its brief in Shioshvili v. Russia, ADF International submitted that protections afforded to the unborn child both at the national level in member states and in international treaties demonstrates that the ECHR should recognize and protect unborn human life....
