Sun, 12 Nov 2017 10:28:43 +0000

(image)

Today we continue our Bible study with a discussion on responding to identity—all kinds of identity. As we prepared this together, we all got a new look at how the love of God speaks to this, and it wasn't what we expected and was challenging, but it's so much better. Come join us in the Fireside room.

Male and Female He Created Them, & God Blessed Them

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 10:27:27 +0000

(image)

Why did God make different sexes? How does He bless us through our differences? Is one superior to the other? What are our roles as men and women according to God's creation? Have they changed? How does God use those roles to bless us? We begin our look at these roles today by taking a fresh look at Genesis 1-2 to see God's original design.   Pastor Stadler Q&A [audio mp3="https://saintjameslutheran.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/092417-Pastor-Stadler-Q-A.mp3"][/audio]

Find Your Way

Sun, 07 Aug 2016 09:23:44 +0000

(image)

WELCOME to this celebration of God’s grace at Saint James as God strengthens our faith through His Word and we respond with thanks and praise. Yesterday was VBS Sunday, when the children of our weeklong VBS shared their songs and recitations in our worship service. We will sing a couple of those songs tonight. Pastor’s Critchley’s sermon is based on the theme of this year’s VBS as he explores John 14:1-7 and asks the question: “What are the treasures God wants us to have and how do we find them?” His sermon theme is: “Find Your Way.”

The Sweet Law

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 14:23:48 +0000

(image)

The title for today's sermon is "The Sweet Law." Does obedience excite you? Probably not. But the better we know God, the more we desire obedience to Him. Psalm 19:7-14, ESV The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

What is the Baptized Life?

Sun, 10 Jan 2016 12:04:53 +0000

God WILL Give You More Than You Can Handle!

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 10:46:10 +0000

Today's Service is based on the text: Mark 6:45-56.  You've heard (and probably said), "God won't give your more than you can handle," but God never promised that! Actually, He promised just the opposite, so what do we do when He does give us more?

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 14:02:11 +0000

The Hidden Kingdom Among Us

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 09:00:43 +0000

(image)

The Kingdom of God is among us, and our world has trouble seeing it, but those who can see it, see everything differently. The life of Saint Paul and his companions wasn’t easy, but through their hardships, they saw God’s hand in their lives. Would that we were more eager to see God’s hand than to have the ease that the world offers!

How Can I Know God?

Sun, 22 Mar 2015 16:16:40 +0000

What is God’s Currency?

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 13:56:44 +0000

(image)

God owns all things. He created all things good, and every good thing we have is a gift from Him. So then what does God value? Do we value the same things He does? Does it make sense that we should? God didn't just set us free. He came with us in our freedom and is with us always. Jesus fulfilled the Ten Commandments for us so we can be in His loving presence forever.

Mark 9:2-9 – How to See God’s Glory

Sun, 15 Feb 2015 14:18:00 +0000

(image)

As we finish the Epiphany season, focusing on revealing Jesus as the Son of God, Transfiguration transitions us into Lent, which focuses on Jesus' humiliation and suffering for us. This day bridges those two by revealing Jesus' glory, the voice declaring Him to be God's Son, and the transition from Moses and Elijah, representing the Old Covenant, to Jesus' New Covenant. We pray that God would make us willing to "listen to Him" as the Father commands the disciples on the mountain.
