(image)WELCOME to this celebration of God’s grace at Saint James as God strengthens our faith through His Word and we respond with thanks and praise. Yesterday was VBS Sunday, when the children of our weeklong VBS shared their songs and recitations in our worship service. We will sing a couple of those songs tonight. Pastor’s Critchley’s sermon is based on the theme of this year’s VBS as he explores John 14:1-7 and asks the question: “What are the treasures God wants us to have and how do we find them?” His sermon theme is: “Find Your Way.”

(image)The title for today\'s sermon is \"The Sweet Law.\" Does obedience excite you? Probably not. But the better we know God, the more we desire obedience to Him. Psalm 19:7-14, ESV The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

(image)As we finish the Epiphany season, focusing on revealing Jesus as the Son of God, Transfiguration transitions us into Lent, which focuses on Jesus\' humiliation and suffering for us. This day bridges those two by revealing Jesus\' glory, the voice declaring Him to be God\'s Son, and the transition from Moses and Elijah, representing the Old Covenant, to Jesus\' New Covenant. We pray that God would make us willing to \"listen to Him\" as the Father commands the disciples on the mountain.
