Journey Toward the Promised Land: Nostalgia —> Complaining —> Worry

Sun, 25 Feb 2018 08:45:00 PST

Message delivered by Pastor Ben Bergren. We continue on in the series “Journey Toward the Promised Land” and the Israelites discover that life is not easy when you are walking through the desert. Last week it was water, this week it is food. The Israelites struggle with a perception problem and a bad case of nostalgia. It effects their ability to see the big picture. We can learn from their mistake!

Journey Toward the Promised Land: It is Not About the Water

Sun, 18 Feb 2018 08:45:00 PST

Message delivered by Pastor Ben Bergren. We begin a new sermon series for Lent! We will spend the next five weeks journeying toward the “Promised Land.” For the Israelites, they were looking forward to occupying the land God promised their patriarch Abraham. We are journeying toward the cross and the empty tomb of Jesus. We will look at stories from the “exodus” and the gospels that will help us finish our journey in this life. First up: Thirsting for the right stuff.

Ash Wednesday

Wed, 14 Feb 2018 19:00:00 PST

Message delivered by Pastor Ben Bergren. Ash Wednesday begins the forty-day journey of Lent—a journey where we follow Jesus’ steps to Jerusalem and, ultimately, the cross. Ash Wednesday invites us to take this journey of introspection and to reflect upon what it means to be a Christian, what it means to take up one’s cross and to follow Jesus. The imposition of ashes on our foreheads reminds us of the frailty of our lives here on earth. We were created out of the dust of the earth, and to dust we shall return. Divine judgment is at hand, but this judgment is tempered with mercy and a call to begin our journey anew.

Jonah 4: Still Not Getting It

Sun, 11 Feb 2018 08:45:00 PST

Message delivered by Pastor Ben Bergren. We come to the end of the journey with our friend Jonah. You would think it would be a happy ending but Jonah’s attitude gets in the way of celebrating. Learn how small-minded thinking can prevent us from seeing the bigger picture.

Jonah 3: Starting Over

Sun, 4 Feb 2018 08:45:00 PST

Message delivered by Pastor Ben Bergren. We continue the story of Jonah! Jonah finally goes to Nineveh and does the very thing that God asked him to do in chapter 1. What happens when God asks someone to follow him? We explore that topic and more.

Jonah 2: Slow Down

Sun, 28 Jan 2018 08:45:00 PST

Message delivered by Pastor Ben Bergren. We continue to explore the story of Jonah! What do you do when you have disobeyed God and are trapped inside a large fish at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea? The answer seems obvious… or does it?
