  • Bill Northey, Iowa's Secretary of Agriculture, was on hand at World Pork Expo to share the importance of preparation in the eventuality of a foreign animal disease outbreak. He talks with Dave Russell. Business Continuity Plans for foreign animal disease issues are key to have in place now so when issues like avian influenza hit, stakeholders and communities have a starting point to help handle the issues. Plan updates are still needed over time to adjust to the lessons learned from past events and to incorporate new concerns coming in the future. Engagement of all participants is a key element for such plans to succeed.
