The Perfect Prescription should appeal to fans of the former band, with its dazzlingly layered treatment of songs that, when pinned down for analysis, actually prove to be pop in its most majestic sense. The constantly oscillating guitars of Jason Pierce and Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember, seldom shackled to anything as pedestrian as a standard beat, are unparalleled in their ability to take listeners on a journey to the center of the mind. Devotees of the earlier psychedelic era should note the presence of an extended, demented cover of the Red Krayola's "Transparent Radiation." --David Sprague
2010-10-30T17:32:00.456-07:00The rising costs of prescription drugs, combined with a lack of prescription drug coverage, is leaving patients without the prescription medication they need. Fortunately, help may be here. A national study has shown that 13% of the population lacked any type of health insurance whatsoever. Even more startling, a staggering 25% did not have insurance covering prescription drugs. These figures are increasing as drug prices continue to climb. The AFL-CIO Task Force on Prescription Drugs reports there are three factors that contribute to the quick increase in prescription medicine expenditures: a.) the growing number of prescriptions per patient; b.) the availability of new, more expensive prescription drugs that replace older, less expensive medicines; and c.) the price increases of existing drugs. In response, states have tried to reign in increasing costs by limiting the utilization of prescriptions, asking pharmaceutical companies for price concessions, and changing the Medicaid payment system. It is estimated that overall spending by and for Medicaid beneficiaries will more than triple over the next decade, from $71 billion in 2001 to $228 billion in 2011.Having a medical condition or disease can put a tremendous amount of strain on a person's body and mind. To add to the problem further, many of these patients have low income, with little or no prescription insurance coverage and no "disposable" funds which can be used for prescriptions. Even those with medical coverage know there are no guarantees: many have had to meet climbing deductibles and have had medicine go partially covered - or totally uncovered. Fortunately, there are paths through every healthcare hurdle.Lack of insurance coverage is a prescription for disaster, while all prescription costs are quickly escalating, the price of brand name medicines is rising even faster. Are you eligible for the generic version of your prescription, or must you take the brand name? Find out from your physician and pharmacist if your prescription medicine can be filled with the lower-cost generics. In some instances, this isn't possible because the brand names are more effective than their generic alternatives. Many healthcare providers will assist their patients by giving free samples of the medicine. While samples are not a permanent solution they can help in time of need. Ask your doctor.Going directly to the pharmaceutical company can be very helpful in getting low or no cost prescriptions. Contact the company and ask about their Prescription Assistance Program. Almost all pharmaceutical companies offer such programs, which enable consumers to receive prescription medicine they need at a price they can afford. A lengthy application co-signed by your healthcare provider is typically necessary for entry into the program. Patient Assistance Programs run by drug manufacturers have been in existence for over 25 years. These programs are designed to assist eligible individuals who can't afford their prescription drugs due to limited income or other financial hardships. Pharmaceutical companies did not want their low income customers to be forced to make a choice between paying for life saving drugs or for paying for rent or groceries. As a result, patient assistance programs came into being as part of the company's philanthropic efforts. Until relatively recently, very few people knew about these programs or could follow the complicated application process that was required for participation. In many cases several applications had to be filed with several different manufacturers in order to gain access to assistance programs. The drug manufacturers seem to believe that offering information on their websites and toll-free numbers is all that people need to access PAPs. They just don't understand the inability of many people, particularly those on several drugs from 2 or more physicians to follow through with the difficult application process.[...]

In particular, those prescriptions can directly reflect our personal needs for eyeglasses. Generally, if we need eye prescriptions, we must go to the optical stores and ask the optician to prescribe for our eyes. And recently, there emerges a new way for glasses prescriptions- prescribe online. It is true that online eyeglasses prescriptions are some of the most beloved alternatives for those who are very busy all the time. For example, white colors are very busy in much pressured conditions than others. Such pressure has made them some of the major groups of glass wearers. However, they are so busy that it is impossible for them to spend very long time, half a day at least, to prescribe at optical stores. Fortunately, they can choose to get online eyeglasses prescriptions.Online eyeglasses prescriptions are fallen into two sorts: one is for those who want to purchase eyeglasses online without prescriptions; another is specifically for those who want to prescribe online. Generally, the two types are almost the same and the only difference is that online prescriptions in the first situations are just additional services, while the latter situation is the major service. In each of the two situations, some top eye specialists are going to help you.Almost all procedures in real optical stores will be involved while getting online eyeglasses prescriptions. And cameras are essential in those procedures. After you enter into the website and some detailed steps will be told. Of which, open cameras is crucial in the prescribing process. All information of your eyes will be transferred to the specialists whom you can not see. During this process, you just need to do what the specialists have told you. After finishing those processes, you should wait for some time, for the specialists will have to do some extra works for your prescriptions. Some time later, the specialists will give your eye prescriptions that are as accurate as done in optical shops. If you want to buy eyeglasses, the online vendors will manufacture your eyeglasses according to your prescriptions. And what you should do only is to wait for the shipping of those glasses after paying for them. If you want those prescriptions, the specialists will send them to you by e-mails.Just imagine how much time will be saved if you choose to get online eyeglasses prescriptions-not only the time you will have to spend on the road, but only the time you have to wait.In addition to those merits, there are also many others advantages that can be found in getting online eyeglasses prescriptions. For example, the cost of getting those prescriptions online is very low and much cheaper than at real optical stores; we always get our latest eye prescriptions once there is a computer and camera, as our eyes and eye prescriptions will change on and on.Facts have proved that those online eyeglasses prescriptions are very nice and accurate. And eyeglasses based on those prescriptions are almost the same as prescriptions from real optical stores. It is no wonder that getting online eyeglasses prescriptions is so popular because there are so many merits can be found in this method. Sometimes we may find an old pair of prescription glasses accidentally. But we don't know what prescription it has. Maybe the prescription is off and it can not meet our eye requirement now. So how can we get the prescription of old glasses? And if the prescription is tested lower for our eyes, can this pair be useful for us? The following will give some introduction on how to get the prescription of old glasses and how to deal with them in order to give people more ideas on it.
One day, we may find an old pair of glasses which you loved very much before, but we have no idea if the prescription is off. Then the first thing we should do is to get the prescription of the old pair. We can visit our local optometrist's dispensary. There are technicians and proper tools to test the prescription. After the testing, they will tell you if the prescription is suitable for you now. If the prescription is too low for our eyesight, they will advise us to change for lenses with new prescriptions into the old frames. In this way, we can not only save some money, but also can make the old pair we loved useful.
With regard to the new prescription glasses, we should bear in mind the following points. The time requirement for different dispensaries will be different. For some dispensaries, they require the prescription less than a year, while others need the prescription within two years. Therefore, the time requirement of prescription depends on the state you are in and the doctor you are deal with. Moreover, for children, the cases will also be different. As children's eyes are progressing quickly, they are required to offer prescription within a year, but for adults, prescriptions within two years maybe effective. Therefore, we must make sure our prescription is current and complies with the requirement of the dispensaries. Never use a wrong description, which will cause some troubles to our eyes, such as headaches, eye strain and so on.
From the above introduction, we can see it is easy to deal with these old glasses that we loved before. We can go to dispensaries to check their prescription. And if we still want to use them but the prescription is off, we can ask the technician to change lenses with current prescription to the old frames. But please make sure the prescription must be current and effective from our optometrist.

2010-10-25T06:13:00.056-07:00When it comes to saving money, everyone is looking for ways to cut back on their spending without reducing their quality of life. The good news is that little savings can add up over time - and if made consistently across various aspects of one's life. While it is certain that no one should sacrifice their health in order to save a few dollars, there are some safe and sure-fire ways to save a significant amount of money off of health expenses if consumers are willing to do some research and negotiate. Here are a few ways that consumers can save some extra cash each month (or year) by making small changes, researching options, and discussing prices or payment options:Switch to a Health Savings AccountA Health Savings Account is a popular way for many people to pay for their healthcare while saving thousands of dollars each year off of the cost of their healthcare insurance. With a Health Savings Account, individuals will enroll in a high deductible health insurance plan that generally has low monthly premiums. They can then deposit money into the account every month with annual maximum totals. Whenever individuals have health expenses, such as a doctor's visit, they can use the money from the Health Savings Account to pay for those expenses. So how does the Health Savings Account save consumers money? In a few ways. First, consumers will save money by having lower insurance premiums each month.Second, consumers can use their Health Savings Account like an IRA by investing the savings into money market accounts, stocks, and other high interest yielding vehicles. Consumers will not pay taxes on this money if it is used to pay for medical expenses. However, they can always withdraw the money from the savings account to use for other expenses (they just pay taxes when they withdraw the money if they don't use it for medical expenses.)Also, the money that individuals deposit into a Health Savings Account reduces their income tax burden each year by the amount that they deposit into the Health Savings Account. This means that individuals with Health Savings Accounts will have lower tax burdens.Speak with the doctor about the services or billWith a Health Savings Account, you are in control of your own healthcare expenses. It is in your best interest to always find the best deals. In some cases, individuals are able to reduce their medical bills by speaking with their doctors or dentists about services and payments. This may be especially true if the service fees have increased from previous years. It's always recommended that individuals discuss rates for services before those services are performed in order to determine if there are more affordable solutions that are available. Also, when healthcare providers are aware of financial considerations prior to performing work, they may be able to suggest alternatives or tips for avoiding having to do the work. For example, a dentist may be able to suggest a prescription tooth paste that can prevent cavities and be used now if a patient is especially concerned about developing expensive cavities down the road.Additionally, consumers should keep in mind that some doctors and dentists will accept the payment from an insurance company without requiring patients to pay additional fees. If a patient does need to pay additional fees beyond what an insurance company has paid, the patient may be able to negotiate lower fees if he or she speaks with a healthcare provider about the bill before paying. Often, when healthcare providers reduce or eliminate patient fees after the insurance company has sent payment, this process is called a "professional courtesy." Many consumers may be surpris[...]
2010-10-25T06:05:06.768-07:00Implementing medical practice management software can significantly decrease the costs associated with running a medical office. It saves time and money by automating many processes associated with the day-to-day business of a clinic or practice by using electronic medical records.
2010-10-25T01:17:00.462-07:00Physician groups, hospital corporations and any portion of their supply chains are going to get pretty thrifty this year; a trend healthcare experts say will leave an industry many believe is currently fraught with waste and wealthy executives with a more Wal-Mart-like, economizing public perception.According to consulting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers, no stone will be left unturned in the quest to squeeze more costs out of healthcare. After bidding good riddance to a year that saw its industry suddenly spread across the public microscope and bounced across the aisles of Congress, all facets of healthcare will look from within to find ways to cut spending."Squeezing everything out of their supply chains, renegotiating everything from purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers on everything from food services to medical devices and pharmaceuticals," will become standard healthcare practice, as the firm points out its annual report, Top Issues Facing Healthcare for 2010.Such a prognostication takes a significant page from Wal-Mart's corporate handbook, which prides itself on strong-arming its suppliers into at- or below-cost arrangements so the nation's largest retailer can in turn cut costs for its customers. But for healthcare providers, this means insurance companies will essentially become more like Wal-Mart when their contracts are up for renewal.States like Tennessee, that are already rolling out pilot projects like mandating electronic prescriptions from doctors before such mandates become federal law, will become more common among employer groups and insurance carriers themselves. We can expect heavy fines, too, for not complying. Hand-in-hand with the Obama administration's electronic medical records provision, the so-called ePrescriptions initiative is expected to drive down labor costs associated with manual paperwork while reducing prescription fraud."This new carrot and stick model of accelerating change represents a shift in the government's role as a "passive payer" to an "active buyer" of healthcare and its move from volume-based payments to value-based purchasing," claims the PWC report. For small business owners, many of whom are already struggling to provide affordable healthcare to their employees, employers of all sizes will begin auditing their individual group policies to find new ways to shrink their annual premiums. PWC claims this trend will also include efforts to "weed out" dependents of their no longer eligible for health insurance under their group plans due to age or other factors. In Deja vu style, the PWC report also suggests an emergence of odd business bedfellows to emerge this year as healthcare providers work to maximize cost savings. Physician practices, once strongly aligned with individual hospitals until the HMO/ managed care insurance model fell out of consumer and employer favor, will once again create partnerships for the sake of eliminating duplicate business expenses while caring for the same patients. As healthcare consumers grow more accustomed to alternative means of healthcare delivery (paperless records, electronic prescriptions, etc.), look for healthcare companies to audit their own patients to find potential candidates for electronic healthcare delivery; consultations by e-mail, in-home electronic monitoring of patient vital signs and conditions from remote call centers, and other technologically based systems will become mainstream in the hospitals of the future. To most people, health insurance is a card with numbers you take to the doctor's office and a little booklet of paper that li[...]
2010-10-24T21:32:44.665-07:00Healthcare informatics is the culmination of IT and healthcare, and provides many benefits to both patients and medical staff. Here's what you need to know.1. Using IT to help provide better healthcare means that a lot of processes and procedures can be speeded up or automated, so that more time can actually be spent with patients, instead of having to do administrative tasks.2. The NHS NPfIT and Connecting For Health programmes offer patients more choice about where and when they have their treatment, making it more convenient for them. Using electronic medical records, electronic prescriptions, and digital images also makes it much easier to let the patient have the information or treatment they need as quickly and conveniently as possible.3. It's possible to securely share patient information where and when necessary. Perhaps you've recently had hospital or dental treatment in a different town to where you live. Maybe your child needed to go to casualty when you were visiting relatives. By being able to share the information, it's much quicker to find out what treatment was carried out, or what medication the patient is on, or allergic to as well.4. eSPace is a knowledge base for medical staff, and can be used to share their experiences, research and treatments, so that less time is carrying out work that's already been done. This will save time and resources, and means that the same standard of care is available.5. Healthcare informatics helps to improve the workflow, staffing levels and resources in a department. You'll know, thanks to trending and forecasting, how many staff or beds you need. You'll be able to manage the department or practice better, and provide better healthcare to your patients.6. Thanks to knowing what you need, where you it, and when, the healthcare you give to your patients is more effective, and there is less time spent doing administrative tasks, or waiting for staff or resources to become available.7. Healthcare Informatics can also help to improve communication between departments, hospitals, and GP surgeries. As well as sending patient treatment details, it's possible to send images such as X rays or ultrasounds. This makes it much quicker to get a second opinion, or to see exactly what the patient came in for. These images can be sent electronically, and received immediately, and so there is no delay, unlike having to send an actual X Ray image by post or courier.8. All in all, healthcare informatics is making healthcare much more efficient, and cost effective. Knowing where people are, or need to be, and being able to see where the bottlenecks are or why certain aspects take longer than they should do can help to make a huge difference to the amount and quality of care provided.9. A healthcare report provides a snapshot of exactly what's going on at any one time. You might want to know how many are people in surgery, the number of free beds, or how many nurses will be needed in casualty in the afternoon.10. Patients don't need to know or care about the technology involved in making them better, they just want to be better sooner. By using technology, patient care can be more effective, staff can be more efficient, and costs can be reduced. Now you now more about it, isn't it time for you to think more about healthcare informatics? If you want to know more about Healthcare Informatics and how IT can help your hospital or surgery, why not see if System C can help? With many years experience of IT healthcare, including patient administrative systems, and Electronic Medical Record softw[...]
2010-10-22T08:11:00.687-07:00There are many factors that affect the price of health insurance plans. Increasing medical costs play a major role in that. One of the primary drivers of those costs are prescription drugs. As medications are developed and improved for more conditions, patients and doctors can benefit. However, pharmaceutical companies are earning billions of dollars in profit each year at the expense of access to cost-effective health insurance plans. The United States is one of two countries in the world (the other is New Zealand) which allows direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription drugs. Medications are marketed like any other products on TV, in magazines, and online. Their advertising campaigns are based on branding and other marketing tactics in addition to salient factors like effectiveness. The drugs' benefits are trumpeted loudly, while disclaimers in small print mention the inevitable side effects. Such advertisements increase consumer demand for those products, just as they do for cars, phones, and lipstick. Marketers use tactics that incorporate behavioral psychology knowledge to sell their products, which may not lead to the best health care.Medical advertising causes the cost of health insurance plans to rise in several ways. First, patients must visit their primary care physician in order to receive a prescription. In many cases, the drug that was advertised is unsuitable to their health status, or unnecessary altogether. In recent years, there have been some ads for brand-name prescription drugs that gave absolutely no details about the product whatsoever! This is because laws require that advertisers mention the drawbacks of a prescription if they mention its benefits. Therefore, many people were shelling out co-payments and seeing their doctor to ask about a drug like Nexium, whose initial advertising campaign vaguely referred to the "purple pill". If a person didn't have the unrevealed condition it was for, the drug was irrelevant to them. Therefore, their health insurance plans wasted time and money because they were unaware that it actually treated acid reflux-caused heartburn. In addition, there are many generic prescription drugs that share the same ingredients as their name brand counterparts. Many doctors and health insurance plans steer their patients towards such equally effective formulas, which save all parties money. Still, studies have shown that physicians are more likely to prescribe the name brand when it is specifically demanded by the consumer. The major pharmaceutical companies make regular modifications to their products in order to retain their patents, as their older drugs patents' expire. Most of these changes are relatively minor, such as creating a gel-cap instead of a tablet, for example. Similar to other industries, it is difficult to convince some consumers to take the lower-priced generic or store brand when the well known brand is spending millions to promote its "all new" improvements. This same misguided motive for customer satisfaction is even more prevalent when a patient is armed with a voucher or discount coupon for the name brand. Over half of the best-selling name brand drugs in the U.S. have such offers available on their websites. Free samples make the brand name appear cheaper at first, in addition to making doctors and patients more likely to select a prescription that isn't ideal for the patient. Eventually, health insurance plans end up paying more after the discount than they would if the less expensive generic medication had been chosen. They pass the cost ont[...]
2010-10-22T04:22:00.748-07:00Are you interested in saving on your health care needs? Do you occasionally need a prescription drug, only to have to do without because you can't afford it? How many times, just this year alone, have you looked at your smile wishing you could go to the dentist? Not only can you save on these needs, but you can also save on vision and hearing needs as well. With the healthcare savings tips below, you can take care of yourself and family members without going broke.Save at the PharmacyThere are several ways to save money at the pharmacy. If you own a business, both over-the-counter and prescription medications are tax deductible. When you file taxes, you can use medical bills as leverage to save on your tax bill. This adds up quickly when buying expensive prescription drugs. There are also special discount cards designed specifically to save you dollars at the pharmacy. With these cards, you can get antibiotics prescribed by a physician at discounted rates and short-term medications such as painkillers, which you shouldn't have to do without when you need them. Also with many discount prescription drug cards and pharmacy plans, you can visit almost any major pharmacy chain.Another way to save on prescription drugs is to always ask for a "generic" brand. Generic brands can be substituted for name brand prescription drugs if the physician permits it. Generic drugs are often less expensive but have the same healing properties. There are also herbal remedies that can sometimes be substituted for prescription medications. Check with your doctor and pharmacist to see if this is a possible solution.Saving at the DentistYou can also realize savings on your annual dental cleaning as well as root canals. Getting a crown can really make you dig deep into your purse. Luckily there are health savings plans that can help you with these and other orthodontia needs so your beautiful smile can be a reality instead of just a wish. Just as medical doctor bills and prescription drugs, dental bills are also tax deductible if you own a business. There are also independent dental insurance plans you can purchase if your current insurance company does not offer a dental plan. You can use the Internet to research plans that are available in your state. Though these plans often have a very limited maximum payout per year, they can be helpful in saving on individual dentist bills if you go regularly.Savings on Vision CareDoes a saving of up to 60% on vision care interest you? It should, knowing that a pair of eyeglasses just five years ago was well over $350! Not to mention the average eye exam at around $75. Yes, vision care can get quite expensive these days. You don't have to put off going to the eye doctor any longer just because you can't afford it. Most people do put it off for that very reason.Healthcare savings plans and discount cards are also available for vision care. And yes, this too is tax deductible for business owners. Another way to realize savings on eyeglasses is to keep your same frames when getting a new prescription. The new lens can be placed in your old frames so you won't have to pay for new frames. With these savings, you don't have to feel guilty for taking care of your much-needed eyesight any longer.Savings on Hearing CareThat old saying, "Nothing lasts forever" can be so true. It seems that the hearing is usually one of the first senses to start fading. You shouldn't have to be embarrassed when the time comes that a hearing aid is needed to boost your hearing. It's all a part of life.[...]
2010-10-22T00:04:00.988-07:00Many people are looking for the cheapest prescriptions available in order to help reduce the high cost of healthcare today. There are some tips for finding the most affordable prescriptions available that will still have the quality that is desired. There are many companies, stores, and Internet druggists that fill prescriptions for prices that vary greatly. When you are looking for the provider that offers the best prices, it will be important to compare the prices for the medication and the provider offering services.A great way to assure that your prescriptions will be more affordable is to ask your physician to write prescriptions for generic drugs. Brand name drugs are often significantly more expensive than generic drugs that do the same service. By getting a larger quantity of generic drugs, you can get a greater discount on your prescriptions. Many people are also able to get a great discount on their prescriptions by finding an online druggist that is reliable and reputable. The online druggist often provides the same levels of customer service, and more, that a person receives from a local pharmacy. In addition, they often have other products available at a discount as well.In many cases the discounts that are provided to individuals when they purchase prescription medication have not been advertised by the store. Therefore, it is wise to ask the druggist when you are comparing prices if the quoted price includes discounts available to customers. When a person has developed a relationship with their pharmacist, they will often be notified when a less expensive, generic medication is available at a better price than the brand name that one may have the prescription for.One of the services that most pharmacists provide is to identify less expensive prescription medication and after eating the users permission, they call the physician to change the prescription. This allows the customer to benefit from the discounted medication. If you have a pharmacist that performs this service you can save a significant amount of money on your prescription medication. The long-term relationship with a pharmacist is one of the keys to getting the greatest benefit in savings for your medication. A pharmacist will often maintain the history of their customers. Once they get to know them, they will often work the customer if they are getting a medication that may have an adverse reaction, or that the customer may be allergic to.Another way to find affordable prescriptions is to talk to family, coworkers, and other people you know about where they get their prescription medication and the price they pay. Many people form a network of information about where the most affordable prescriptions can be purchased. When you are comparing prices for your medications, it will also be important that you look at the pharmacist very carefully. The level of service that a customer should expect from a pharmacist should not change if they are getting medication at a more affordable price. These pharmacists that you develop a long-term relationship with should consistently provide accurate information regarding any questions you may have about medications and general health. It will take research and time to find a provider of the cheapest prescriptions. In some cases you may need to visit pharmacies personally in order to ascertain their customer service levels, as prices. An individual looking for cheap generic drugs will want to develop a long-term relationship w[...]
From Consumer Reports:
Question When I filled out the Medicare prescription compare plan, I miscalculated my husband’s insulin prescription. Consequently, we reached the doughnut hole within five weeks. In 2011, we are told that we will be paying 50 percent less on name-brand drugs while in the doughnut hole.
Will the full price of the drugs be deducted from $4,550 that the feds require us to pay? Or, will it just be our 50 percent share, meaning we’ll still end up paying $4,550 in the long run?
Answer Good news for you—it’s the former.
Here’s an explanation from our go-to experts at the Medicare Rights Center.
The 50 percent discount for brand-name drugs that will be applied beginning in 2011 will effectively shrink the $4,550 doughnut hole for you. Both what you pay out of pocket AND the 50 percent discount will count toward the $4,550.

As a follow up to the article posted two weeks ago on our blog, “Why 31% of people never fill the prescriptions they are given,” this week we are going to take a look at the fact that 24% of people who fill their prescription take less than the prescribed amount. This percentage is directly proportionate to the cost of the medication and the patients ability to pay. By taking less, consumers are in essence trying to stretch their dollars and feel less of a financial burden.
Each year, non-compliance to prescription medication costs the American economy thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars. Two week’s ago, we talked about the large percentage of patients not filling their medications. This weeks focus is on those that take the initiative to fill the prescription, but then make decisions that are not in line with their doctor to stretch out the costs over a greater period of time. This is a problem, because many chronic disease states (such as atherosclerosis, or high-cholesterol) are asymptomatic meaning a person may not feel any effect in their day to day life. Eventually, however, a large and potentially life threatening event can take place.
Our recommendation to combat the financial strain is to again be a proactive consumer and advocate for your own health. If you truly doubt your diagnosis, get a second opinion, but don’t skimp on your medication therapy. It could have fatal consequences for you or a loved one. If your paying more than you can currently afford, there is help available! There are a variety of contributing factors to discuss with fact that 31% of prescriptions written by doctors and nurses are never filled. A few of these factors include access to a pharmacy, disbelief in the prescribers prognosis, a false sense that nothing is wrong because they don’t show symptoms, and the cost of the medications themselves. The highlighted reason for today’s discussion has to do with the costs associated with the medicines.
In 2009, Americans filled 3.68 billion prescriptions. This is a very large number, but whats most concerning is the additional 1.2 billion prescriptions that weren’t filled. Non-compliance to the doctors orders is estimated to cost the lives of 125,000 people not to mention almost $300 billion in additional medical costs annually. These stats are overwhelming to fully comprehend, and the root cause often to blame goes back to affordability of the medication itself. Often times, people make decisions between medicine and other essential necessities we have come to expect in American society.
When you look at the number of heavily discounted medications on the market today, often times there is an opportunity to save money for the patient and increase compliance. Furthermore, this increases quality of life and reduces the costs associated with complications due to inaction. Our message today to our readers is to be a proactive consumer and demand more from your healthcare providers in the way of medication costs if they are currently more than you can afford. Ask your doctor, ask your pharmacist, or ask one of the trained professionals at Rx Savings Solutions. We’re here to help you live a better life!
