Driving yourself in Oman Wahiba sand dunes

Mon, 28 Aug 2017 18:22:42 GMT

Hello, Has anyone done independent driving in Wahiba Sands, Oman? We read that it is stupid and dangerous to try driving in the sand dunes yourself if you don't have a relevant driving experience. But is there a way to visit the sand dunes in a less touristic and cheaper way than what the tour agencies offer? We have a 4 WD, but no desert driving experience. Would it be safe to drive to any of the desert camps and arrange ... [Posted by baldinakta - Aug 28, 10:22]

Traveling Affordably

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 20:56:26 GMT

I am a college student and would like to travel before I graduate, I am having some trouble finding affordable travel groups or even affordable airfare to South Africa. Once you are there it seems accommodations and game drives are fairly affordable. ... [Posted by Elliriyanna - Aug 27, 12:56]

Itinerary for Uganda Gorilla Trek and Elephant Whispers

Wed, 09 Aug 2017 18:02:48 GMT

My husband and I are avid travelers. Generally, our major focus is on authentic experiences away from the tourists. We prefer to spend our money on bucket list experiences as opposed to luxury accommodations. Of course, if luxury exists in our budget, we wouldn’t turn it down, but it’s just not our priority. We enjoy adventure and activity, but don’t want to be run ragged by packing in so much into each day. We don’t generally ... [Posted by hmwende - Aug 09, 10:02]

All the tour companies I've looked at (GAdventures, Intrepid etc) look great but only do tours of 5+ days . Can anyone recommend a tour company where I can do 1 or 2 nights only?? Initial plan was to do one trip to Victoria ... [Posted by GBVLondon - Jul 23, 00:03]

Safety on bus from Tanzania (Arusha) to Kenya (Nairobi)?

Fri, 21 Jul 2017 21:47:42 GMT

Hello to all. I will be travelling with friends to Tanzania and I was thinking of possibly extending my stay and crossing on my own (woman) from Tanzania (Arusha) to Kenya (Nairobi) to visit a friend. Do you know whether this could be challenging/not a secure option? I have had contradictory opinions, some suggesting me to fly instead. Also does anyone know how the situation looks like in Nairobi, now that Kenya is approaching the elections? Also cholera-wise...? Thank you! ... [Posted by stepadou - Jul 21, 13:47]

Children flying Emirates to South Africa

Wed, 12 Jul 2017 08:34:37 GMT

If you are flying to South Africa with children and without one or more parents on the childs birth certificate expect Emirates to deny you boarding even if you comply with the paperwork set out by the South African Embassy. Emirates denied boarding and would not refund - with paperwork that was considered acceptable by South Africa on a previous trip with another airline. AVOID them in these circumstances as they will not care or be helpful at all - they claim ... [Posted by iansorby - Jul 12, 00:34]

Self driving in East Africa

Sat, 01 Jul 2017 00:47:05 GMT

Hello, does anyone has experience regarding self-driving through East Africa? We will start a round-trip for 2.5 month in about 2 weeks, that will take us from Nairobi to Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania back to Nairobi. We've read several blogs and reports and are confident, that we can do the driving ourselves with great caution and patience. For a safari, we would always take a guide for several reasons (a.o. not get lost, find the animals...). Unfortunately, we couldn't find any reports re ... [Posted by IvoS - Jun 30, 16:47]

Is 3000 Euros for a 21 travel tour in South Africa too much?

Wed, 28 Jun 2017 16:04:25 GMT

Hi Guys I'm planning to travel to South Africa in a few months time. I have a short question for anybody who's been there on holiday. My question is: Would you pay 3000 Euros for a 21 day holiday in South Africa? It's through a touring company. I've done some research on this 3000 Euro package and it seems nice and I should be happy with all the accommodations, towns we visit and activities. Nevertheless, I would just like to know. Would you pay ... [Posted by LongTom9 - Jun 28, 08:04]
