Rent or buy a campervan for WHV?

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 15:23:19 GMT

Hi guys, me and my gf are heading to Melbourne in late Feb 2017 to begin our WHV, we are undecided wether to buy/rent a campervan or stay in b&b's. I'm personally favouring the campervan as I imagine the b&b's will eat up too much of our funds. I've read a few posts about people choosing to rent one over buying because it's a lot less hassle if they break down or get into an accident. Bearing in mind I've no idea ... Jetlagged Birthday in Auckland, any tips?

Wed, 02 Nov 2016 22:04:26 GMT

Hi, While we scheduled our trip to the North Island in New Zealand it hit me: it's my husband's birthday the day we land. We get into Auckland at 5:40 AM from San Francisco, California. We are staying at a hotel in Ponsonby. He isn't a huge birthday person and he wouldn't expect me to have crowded house booked for a private concert or anything. However, I AM a huge birthday person so I have to do something somewhat special ... [Posted by anilop_sf - Nov 02, 14:04]

I arrive in Sydney in 3 weeks time. Do I need to actually physically bring my visa with me though, and what is it?! I have my email saying my visa has been granted, but what is my actual visa? Do I need to bring something to show immigration when I arrive? Or will they just scan my passport and see that I've been granted a visa? ... [Posted by jameserob - Oct 30, 08:40]

We're total newbies to Oz and will be spending Christmas in Perth. Finding work with cheap/included accomodation in Australia

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 09:52:43 GMT

Hello. 25 year old male, with some experience in cooking/hospitality jobs, and a tad in farming, going to arrive to Perth soon for the start of my working holiday visa. I'm wondering if anybody has any advice regarding the best way to find work that includes cheap accommodation and meals. I've read several blog and forum posts about this kind of work - usually remote taverns/pubs/whatever else they are called, with accommodation around $100 per week - but looking online, the ... Faking Farming and 2nd Year Visa

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 11:35:12 GMT

Has anyone done this or have any stories? Not that I'm planning on doing it, but I've heard that the farming can be seriously hard work and not nice at all. I've read about people paying farmers to sign them off and also about people just filling in the form and saying they've done the work and getting an ABN number and postcode on it. Obviously it's risky, but I do wonder how many the authorities actually check. ... [Posted by jameserob - Oct 03, 03:35]
