Correct locations of uploaded photos

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 00:44:55 GMT

When uploading photos to Travellerspoint, please be careful when entering the location of the photo (address, town or country name). Also check that the correct file is uploaded. One photo uploaded recently identified it as taken in the Cook Islands. The photo depicted a building that is atypical of the ones in the Cook Islands; and the palm trees were atypical as well. On checking, the uploaded photo actually was taken in Morocco in 2009 (it already was in the ... [Posted by berner256 - Sep 17, 16:44]

Curved lines are upside down in travel map

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 17:29:14 GMT

I was going to print a map for my next trip, but this bothered me so much I gave up. The lines draw curving towards the equator, curved flight lines should go towards the poles. Thought I'd drop a message here for someone to see. ... [Posted by Erik508 - Sep 17, 09:29]

I have read following answer for how many outfits I should take while travelling. But it is not much in detail please anyone can explain for more detail how many outfits for 15 day trip, should I have? "The best is taking less and do mix and match. It’s wise to carry interchangeable clothes that could be worn in different styles and with varying combinations." ... [Posted by suhasj123 - Sep 15, 20:56]

What necessary things besides clothes I need to carry?

Wed, 13 Sep 2017 13:58:04 GMT

Always keep yourself few things like the scanned copies of your travel documents like photographs, tickets, passports, visas and also in emergency you may need bank contact numbers in a web based email account that could be easily accessed in case of any problem with you. Keep your documents and cards. You must also carry some band-aid and general medicines as the safety aid. ... [Posted by suhasj123 - Sep 13, 05:58]

What do you do if you can't plan?

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 23:59:47 GMT

This is a take-off on the 'wrap your head around' travel style topic. If you plan everything, and suddenly you are in a place that you didn't plan for, what do you do? I was thinking about this because my daughter who lives in Miami is an airline pilot. She was working the flight from Miami to Paris that left Thursday and was to come back Friday. The PTB told her to stay in Paris until Monday. So ... [Posted by greatgrandmaR - Sep 10, 15:59]

What sort of destinations do you like?

Tue, 15 Aug 2017 17:30:19 GMT

Curious what other people look for in a destination. Like beaches, party spots, nature, landmarks, museums etc? I always tend to go towards historical places. Anywhere with a bit of history to it attracts me. Especially military history. Other things that interest me are cycle trails and local culture. Nature and nice natural sites I also enjoy. Beaches I can take or leave. A place with no or bad beaches wouldn't put me off, but if there's a nice beach it's ... [Posted by Muffintherabbit - Aug 15, 09:30]

Your next destination?

Thu, 03 Aug 2017 17:08:51 GMT

Like it says on the destination. Where is everyone off too next? My next destination is Busan in Korea. My dad's coming to visit in Taiwan and when he comes over we always try to visit somewhere. Last year was Okinawa. This year, we've decided on Busan and a day trip into Seoul. Should be good, looks a really nice place. So, where's everyone else off too? :) ... Where wouldn't you go again?

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 15:45:49 GMT

For me, Kuala Lumpur. I went there last year and found it to be a very boring city with little warmth or charm. The taxis were expensive, food bland and even though we were only there a few days we still found ourselves struggling to find things to do. I also have little interest in going to Paris again. Just seemed a really rude, unfriendly city. ... [Posted by Muffintherabbit - Aug 02, 07:45]

Flight Route maps

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 12:16:35 GMT

This is for people who like maps & have not seen it before. Google maps flight directions from Toronto to Beijing gives the expected route I would envisage by looking at a map. By using the 'measure distance' tool, another line shows the shortest distance between the two points which is what I assume to be the route a plane would take .. the Great Circle route. Cute .. I like it. Good to know if I am looking at lay-ove ... [Posted by hasbeen - Aug 02, 04:16]

'Local' SIM card/data/talk/terxt deals?

Sun, 30 Jul 2017 11:23:13 GMT

Hi all I've never purchased a 'local' SIM card/data/call/text 'deal'. Now I got into trouble on this forum the other day by naming a credit card (quite innocently, I might add) so for the love of all that is holy, without naming names, al I want to ask here is how do they work? (Whatever you do, don't or even hint at an actual product or I will be sent back to Purgatory)... Can I assume for example that you pay, say, $10 ... [Posted by Dave_C57 - Jul 30, 03:23]

Taking your smart phone and money management

Tue, 25 Jul 2017 16:59:22 GMT

Hi all Phone: I'm desperate to take my iphone 6+ but I'm concerned about theft. If i take a cheaper/older Android essentially the same threat applies. I last backpacked (for almost 5 straight years in 1987-1992) and I got by just fine with no phone and far fewer plans than I'm making this time around. (Back then, no one could threaten me for a PIN or fingerprint like they could today - so much for progress!) So I either hide my 6+ or Android ... [Posted by Dave_C57 - Jul 25, 08:59]
