Rowing Machine - In Home

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 18:33:14 GMT

I am thinking of purchasing a rowing machine for my home. I would have to get something portable. I've spent way to much time on Amazon searching. Does anyone have one? That they can recommend? I currently use the one at the gym, I'm only able to go to the gym once a week. I love using the machine...

Movie: Hidden Figures

Sat, 21 Jan 2017 16:07:11 GMT

Since today is the Women's March: Since am up here in Canada, last weekend, for inspiration and curiosity, I saw the movie, *Hidden Figures.* I went solo ...I wanted to see the movie this much. My partner was in another city and others not locally available. The movie offers different facets...

Thinking about trying mountain biking

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 01:55:53 GMT

I've been road riding for about 3 years now and absolutely love it. There's been a new wave in my community and with my LBS towards mountain biking and they've been after me to try it. On the one hand it seems like a lot of fun and they're a great group of ladies. On the other hand, confidence is...

Computer Oddyssey

I am a Ubuntu, indeed a Linux newbie due to a monster sized Sony all-in-one desktop. I bought it in 2009 with the best resources that I could buy at the time - so good that in 2017 it still does quite well though I wouldn't attempt to turn it into a gaming machine. The problem is a common problem...

Snow bikes, old and new

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 22:04:23 GMT

Been riding both old and new snow bikes, this week, on our local snow packed roads, both for fun and to experience how far the bike world has changed with snow bikes. Image: First, the old. It's my 2008 Trek 8000 26" MTB, on the left. After fitting it with...

Rest In Peace to Pioneer Cabin Tree (giant sequoia)

Tue, 10 Jan 2017 07:56:59 GMT

A tall majestic mountain will weather away with time and all living creatures die eventually, even bristle cone pine trees in California and Nevada . Yet I can't help a sense of loss and a sense of sadness to see such an old majestic tree to come down after 1000 maybe 2000 years. My partner...

Riding in the New Year: January!

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 20:25:43 GMT

Happy New Year, everyone! I'll start this month off. Got in a lovely ride on the West Orange Trail this morning, along with seemingly half of the Orlando area. After all the fireworks last night, it's amazing anyone was even awake! Breezy, warm day and felt good. Ended up with 3414 miles...

My tire squeaks.

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 18:52:47 GMT

I have a wide smooth tire on my bike for use on the trainer. Lately it's been squeaking badly with every pedal stroke, meaning it's skidding on the roller. I couldn't tell if that meant there was too much tire pressure, or not enough. Or maybe the resistance was too tight, or maybe too loose. So...
