Harbor Freight Tools recalls Cordless Drill

(Best Syndication News) - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of around 108,000 cordless drills that were imported by Harbor Freight Tools. The company announced the recall after receiving one report of a drill overheating and burning through the unit’s handle. The complaint also involved the consumer sustaining a minor injury.

The problem with the cordless drills involves a black trigger switch that could cause the 19.2 volt cordless drill to overheat. If the drill overheats, a potential for fire or burn exists.

The recalled drills were sold nationwide at Harbor Freight Tools retail stores, by mail order catalog, and online at www.harborfreight.com, between April, 2008 and May 2012. They were priced between $27 and $30.

American Honda Generator Recall announced for possible Fuel Leak

If the generator leaks fuel, it could start a fire. The company is offering a free repair and inspection to fix this potential problem.

Honda recalled the generators after becoming aware of four incidents that involved fuel leaks. No reports of fire or injuries were reported.

Powermate Sx 5500 Portable Generator Recall announced for Repair

(Best Syndication News) - Around 7,700 Powermate Sx 5500 portable generators are being voluntarily recalled due a leaking fuel filter that could cause a fire. The generators were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores in the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast United States between February 2012 and August 2012 at a price of around $550. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) made the recall announcement today.

A China company, Am Pride Chongqing Senci IMP & EXP Trade Co., manufactured the generators. Pramac America LLC, based out of Kearney, Nebraska, was the importer of the recalled products. Pramac received 51 reports from consumers of the fuel filter leaking. While the leaking fuel could cause a fire, no fires or injuries were reported to the company.

LG Electric Ranges recalled for Repair

(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of around 161,000 LG electric ranges because the top burners may fail to turn off or increase temperature without warning. The recalled standalone ranges need to be repaired.

LG Electronics, Inc. has received 80 reports of the stove-top burners not turning off. Some reports involved the temperature setting, which increased without warning when it was being used. No reports of fires or personal injuries were received.

The electric ranges were sold at Best Buy, Home Depot, Sears, and other appliance retailers across the United States between January 2006 and June 2010. The ranges cost between $800 and $1,999, depending on the model.

Master Forge Gas Barbeque Grills recalled for Fire and Burn Concerns

(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a voluntary recall of around 37,000 Master Forge Gas powered Barbeque Grills because they may have not been properly installed. Consumers who have the recalled grills are asked to inspect and fix the gas hose connections to make sure they are not touching the burner box.

The Master Forge Gas Grills are made by a company in China, Guangdong Vanward Electric Co., Ltd., and imported by LG Sourcing, Inc., of North Wilkesboro, N.C. The grills were sold at Lowe's stores nationwide between November 2011 and May 2012 for about $270.

Champion Portable Generators sold at Costco being recalled for Fire Danger

(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of some of the Champion Power Equipment gas powered portable generators because they could catch on fire. The generators were sold exclusively at Costco Wholesale stores nationwide between December 2011 and July 2012 for about $699.

Champion Power Equipment, of Santa Fe Springs, California, announced the recall after 11 reports of fuel leaking out of the carburetor. Of these reports, eight generators caught on fire and two reported property damage.

Around 8,600 of their portable gas powered generators are involved in the recall. Two models have been identified as being problematic – model numbers 41332 and 41532. Both units have a black frame with a yellow and black control panel, a bar handle, and two wheels.

Sears and Kmart announce Thanksgiving Day Doorbuster Sales

(Best Syndication News) - Sears Holdings announced today that both Sears and Kmart retail stores would be open on Thanksgiving Day in most states. State laws in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and Puerto Rico will not allow for Sears and Kmart to be open on Thanksgiving Day, but will open at 12:30 AM on Black Friday, and in Puerto Rico at Midnight.

Sears stores plan to open their doors at 8 PM (local time) on Thanksgiving Day and will remain open through Friday until 10 PM.

On Thanksgiving Day, Kmart stores will open at 6 AM (local time) until 4 pm and reopen again at 8 PM until 3 AM. Then on Black Friday, Kmart will open at 5 AM and close at 11 PM.

Stepladders sold at Home Depot recalled after reports of the platform breaking

(Best Syndication News) - Folding step stools sold exclusively at Home Depot stores are being recalled because the top platform could break while being used. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall issued by Tricam Industries Inc., of Eden Prairie, Minnesota today.

Around 84,000 step stools are being recalled. The Easy Reach by Gorilla Ladders 3-Step Pro Series were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores nationwide between April 2012 through August 2012 at a price around $27.

Tricam received five reports of the top platform of the stepladder breaking. One person reported receiving scrapes and abrasions from the fall.

The model number being recalled is the HB3-PRO, also known as the Easy Reach by Gorilla Ladders 3-Step Pro Series step stool. The model number is located on a blue label under the middle step of the ladder.

Kmart to offer Free Layaway this fall

(Best Syndication News) - Kmart announced that they will offer free layaway plans for customers both online and at their stores between September 7 and November 17, 2012. The layaway fee of $5 for their 8-week contract will be waived. The $10 fee for the 12-week contract will not be charged either.

If the customer cancels before the contract is up, there is a cancellation fee. The customer is also required to make bi-weekly payments that are outlined in the contract. The free layaway is a promotion and the contract has to start between the specified times. Some Kmart stores do not offer layaway.

The power strips may have had the wires reversed on the receptacles. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), on behalf of the importer, announced the recall today.

The recalled power strips were sold at Hardware, Do it Best, Home Depot USA, Sutherland, True Value Hardware stores and online at Amazon.com. They were sold between February 2011 and August 2012 at a price around $40.

Recall of more Cordless Tool Replacement Rayovac Battery Packs

(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of an additional 65,300 Rayovac NI-CD and Rayovac NI-MH Cordless Tool Battery Packs because they could explode, which could potentially cause injury. This is an expanded recall from a prior recall by BatteriesPlus LLC back in December 2011, which involved around 111,800 units.

BatteriesPlus imported the recalled Rayovac battery packs. The company announced more product recalls after three more consumers reported the batteries exploding. One consumer had sustained an injury to their finger. The batteries were sold at BatteriesPlus retail stores nationwide and online at their website, baterriesplus.com. The batteries involved in this current recall were sold between June 2008 and July 2012 at a retail price of $60 - $70.

Cash for Grass Rebate Program returns to the High Desert

(Best Syndication News) - The Alliance for Water Awareness and Conservation (AWAC) along with the Mojave Water Agency (MWA) and the Hesperia Water District are bringing back the Cash for Grass Program. The rebate application period will start on September 4, 2012.

The Cash for Grass Program offers single-family property owners a cash rebate for taking out living and maintained lawns and replacing them with landscaping that uses very little water. Homeowners must be within the Mojave Water Agency service area. The rebate will be for 50 cents per square foot with a maximum rebate of up to $3,000.

Discover started working with the retailer in January when Neiman Marcus became a Discover Cashback Bonus partner. This gave cardholders a way to redeem their reward dollars for Neiman Marcus gift cards that could be used at their stores and their website.

By adding Discover credit cards as a payment method, these cardholders can earn Cashback Bonus rewards by shopping at Neiman Marcus, and then turn those dollars into a gift card to use at the store again during another shopping trip.

Toilet Flushmate III recall announced for bursting under Pressure

(Best Syndication News) - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of around 2.3 million Flushmate III Pressure-Assist Flushing System units because they could burst under pressure. The release of pressure could cause the tank lid to lift, and the tank to possibly shatter.

The manufacturer has received 304 reports of the Series 503 Flushmate II Pressure-Assist Flushing units bursting. Consumers reported property damage, and 14 people were injured from impact or laceration injuries from the product bursting.

The problem with this particular unit is the weld seam near the vessel can burst when pressure is stored in the unit.
