Oprah Winfrey takes on leadership positions at OWN beginning this Fall

(Best Syndication News) - Oprah Winfrey will be taking on the jobs of chief executive officer and chief creative officer at the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) beginning this fall. The announcement was made today from Discovery Communications who is in partnership with Oprah Winfrey for the OWN cable TV channel.

Oprah Winfrey ended her popular daytime talk show ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ this past May after being on the air for 25 years. Harpo Studios, which is Oprah Winfrey’s production company for the daytime talk show will now be working on TV shows exclusively for the OWN cable channel for any future productions.

(Best Syndication News) - This is the end of 25 years on daytime television. ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ has such a huge following, that it is going to leave some viewers missing it next fall. Today will be the last show that the TV show will produce, and it will have Oprah Winfrey telling her audience and viewers how much the show meant to her.

On Monday and Tuesday airings of the TV show, Oprah Winfrey was surprised with an all-star celebration acknowledging all that she has done with 'The Oprah Winfrey Show.' Aretha Franklin, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keyes, were just some who came to perform songs in her honor.

There still will be reruns that will air throughout the summer. Additionally, on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) you can also still get to view some Oprah Winfrey Show moments with her ‘Season 25 Behind the Scenes’ TV show which air every Sunday night at 8/7c.

(Best Syndication News) - Shirley Maclaine was interviewed on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' today and discussed her new book that she has called “I'm Over All That: And Other Confessions" which is her twelfth book that she had published. She also discussed 2012 and the end of the world, UFO's and her romantic days.

Her new book talks about all kinds of topics. Oprah reads one of the topics with was that she is over being polite to boring people. In the book, she said that she isn't good at small talk and she tries to walk away and she nods and blinks when boring people talk to her. She finishes the section by saying that that she goes into a trance and meditates.

Maclaine continues to shock during the interview with Oprah when she explains that she had love affairs not just casual flings. But then she added that she did try it with three guys in one day once. The audience was shocked and so was Oprah.

(Best Syndication News) - Oprah Winfrey may be in her last year of her daytime talk show, but now she along with Discover Network, will be launching the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) this January 1, 2011. The OWN channel will take the place of Discovery Health Channel.

With Discovery Health Channel being carried by many cable and satellite providers there is an estimated audience of 80 million homes that will be able to watch the replacement OWN channel.

There has been a lot of planning that has gone on with the OWN network to create shows that are themed Oprah style. They will have a reality show which will look for the next host of a talk show for the network. They also will have documentary style shows with celebrity hosts. There also will be movies aired on this network.

It has been years in getting the OWN network on the air and it will be interesting to see if it is going to offer all it promises.

(Best Syndication News) - There are going to be five OWN network original two-hour documentaries produced with the Julia Roberts, Forest Whitaker, Gabriel Byrne, Mariel Hemingway and Goldie Hawn participating in them. Oprah Winfrey will be launching her OWN network begin on January 1st, 2011.

The special documentaries are going to air as part of OWN network's monthly documentary film club. The documentaries will be a variety of topics that discuss how people interact, their relationships, and their emotions.

Julia Roberts was both the presenter and the executive producer for the documentary called “Extraordinary Moms” which looks at different women that overcome problems in the world and creates history.

(Best Syndication News) - Forbes has released their Celebrity 100 list which shows which one earned the most money last year. Oprah Winfrey is reported to have earned an estimated $315 million putting the talk show media magnet in the number one position for 2010 Celebrity 100 list.

Following in number 2 spot on the Forbes Celebrity list was singer Beyoncé earning around $87 million. She out performed her husband Jay-Z who was number 15 on the list earning $63 million.

James Cameron the director and creator of the film “Avatar” earned an estimated $210 million and was place in third place. The reason being is that they also rank the stars popularity on the web, and with the media and on TV.

[Best Syndication News] Rocker Bret Michaels was interviewed on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' to discuss his recent hospitalizations and how he was recovering from the brain hemorrhage that happened on April 21st, 2010.

Bret Michaels got his start performing with the rock band Poison. Michaels is currently on the reality TV show 'Celebrity Apprentice.'

Michaels girlfriend explained how he complained of a headache. After three days in and out of consciousness he survived. Michaels said he was “very happy to be here,” when Oprah introduced him via satellite.

[Best Syndication News] Oprah Winfrey has announced auditions are being held in the month of June at for a reality TV Show searching for the next big TV star. The auditions will be held in New York City, Dallas, Texas, Los Angeles, California, and Atlanta, Georgia. If you can't make an in person audition for the Oprah Winfrey Reality TV show, you can also upload a video online to try out for the next big TV Star.

Oprah started the TV show having overweight women confessing the way they feel about their weight and their overeating. Oprah said that the book, Women Food and God, could be a breakthrough for so many women win the weight loss battle.

    Oprah said that the whole audience had read the book, which consisted of mostly overweight women and some men today.

    Geneen Roth holds workshops and retreats for women to address their weight issues. Roth admitted to having eating problems that started in her teenage years. She had gained and lost over a thousand pounds. She had a breakthrough and learned how to keep off the weight. Roth said that she doesn't diet and she uses food as a doorway to getting what you want.

    Roth said that if you are eating when you are not hungry or bored, you are basically saying that you have given up on some part ourselves. When we are eating we are miserable she added. Oprah said that the pain of dealing with confronting someone or something that makes you uncomfortable you think that eating something would make it better. She said that the pain already has happened, but when you overeat you double the pain. So you feel like a failure on top of the feeling that you had before.

    [Best Syndication News] Nadya Suleman was showcased on today's 'Oprah Winfrey' TV show. Nadya Suleman was nicknamed 'Octomom' because she gave birth to octuplets. Suleman also has six other children. Her octuplets are now 14 months old.

    Oprah sent her TV crew to follow Suleman's family for a 24 hour time frame. Her oldest child is 8 years old. Suleman spends about $1,000 a week on groceries, with 21 gallons of milk a week. Hectic and fast paced child care was what Oprah's cameramen captured.

    Suleman thought that the name of 'Octomom' was funny at the first, but after awhile she was bothered by it. She tells Oprah that she did the bikini photo shoot to make $100,000. At the same time however, she feels exploited by the paparazzi.

    Oprah points out that her show did not pay for this interview with Suleman. Oprah asked her do you feel that you have contributed to the carnival attraction? Suleman said that the reason she did the bikini shoot was because she needed to provide for her children. She said that she would never do a reality TV show.

    [Best Syndication News] Planet Earth follow up series called 'Life' which is premiering this Sunday, March 21st on Discovery Channel at 8 p.m. This 11 part series will be narrated by Oprah Winfrey.

    On the premiere of 'Life,' they will be looking at extraordinary strategies that both plants and animals do to survive both as an individual as well as a species.

    They will be looking at cheetah life and show how they hunt down ostriches in Kenya, which is the first time a television nature series have capture three cheetahs hunting this large bird.

    The show travels to Florida to explore a pod of bottlenose dolphins. They show how the dolphins us a mud-ring to catch dinner.

    [Best Syndication News] Celine Dion was on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' yesterday to promote her upcoming film called 'Celine: Through the Eyes of the World' that will be released to movie theaters nationwide February 17 - 28, 2010. The film is a documentary which follows her for a year as she and her husband and son travel on a music tour around the world. Dion said it gives people a chance to see what her life is like both on stage and off.

    During Dion's interview with Oprah they discussed her miscarriages. She said that they continue to try to have another child. She is hoping that the fifth time will be successful. Oprah asked if the miscarriages have been a strain on her marriage. Dion said that you can't put your happiness and the successfulness of your relationship with children. She really seemed pretty level headed even after facing that tragedy of having so many miscarriages.

    (Best Syndication News) Jay Leno says he didn’t want to leave his Tonight Show slot but NBC executives wanted Conan O’Brien in there. After a disastrous prime-time show, NBC decided to move him back to the late-night slot displacing O’Brien. Last week Leno explained his feelings to the Oprah Winfrey Show audience (see funny montage below).

    The Tonight Show is one of the longest running shows on television. In 1954 Steven Allen was the first host followed by Jack Paar in 1957. Johnny Carson was the longest running host from 1962 through 1992. He had the show for an astounding 30 seasons when Leno took over. Leno left in 2009 and O’Brien served the shortest time; less than one year (7 months).

    [Best Syndication News] The UK's famous 'Britain's Got Talent' singer, Susan Boyle, performed 'Who I was Born to Be' on the Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday.

    Boyle said that she suffered from exhaustion, and she is absolutely fine now. It turns out that she was just working to hard and she didn't eat for a week and had problems with sleep. She was in the hospital for 3 days because of it. Boyle has set record album sales which she tells Oprah that she is glad with the results of all the sales of her album.

    The show also had last season's "American Idol" contestant Adam Lambert perform on the show. Lambert performed "If I Had You" on the show. Lambert showed us that he was performing in LA for the musical “Wicked” before making it big on American Idol.

    [Best Syndication News] Oprah Winfrey had Lady Gaga on Friday's Oprah TV show to perform, this was just one day after the singer canceled a concert the night before at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Lady Gaga was reported to have suffered from exhaustion.

    Lady Gaga wrote on her Twitter account, “Paramedics came to take care of me, and told me my heart-rate was irregular-- a result of exhaustion and dehydration.”

    Her appearance on Oprah is her only performance lately as she has been taking some time off and has canceled Saturday's Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City. According to Lady Gaga's show promoter they have also canceled Sunday performance in Wallingford, Connecticut and will postponed Mohegan Sun casino performance for Monday in Uncasville, Connecticut.

This offer for two pieces of grilled chicken, two individual sides and a biscuit free caused KFC to run out of there chicken and at some locations caused angry customers to camp out at the restaurant in hopes of getting there freebie.
