Harshuuuuuuuuuuu

Sat, 29 Jan 2011 12:20:36 +0000

I had plans for Harshu’s first Tonsure in the month of January or Thai ,the first tamizh month and on 19th January noticed that Harshu’s Nakshathram – Poosam falls tomorrow .Immediately booked the local auto rickshaw guy to take us to the temple by 6.00 A.M tomorrow as it was Thai Poosam a very auspicious day; I expected the temple to be really crowded On 20th January Amutha got up by 4.30 and got ready then me and ashu woke up by 5.00 and harshu woke up with a smiling face at 5.30 around whom the entire event evolves . We left the house by 6.05 reached the temple by 6.30 got the tickets for Special Darshan - Rs.20/- per head then a special ticket of Rs.10/-for tonsure and Rs.10/- for archanai; Harshu was quiet and very cooperative while his head was shaved . There is a charge for everything inside the temple.Since it was Harshu’s first tonsure the barber demanded 50 bucks and I had to pay ;harshu had to be given a bath ;I expected the temple to provide a bathroom and a powder room ,though there was a bathroom which also had a water heater the water from the tap was quiet chill I had to bathe him in cold water , harshu was very happy immediately started to play with the mug and the water ,the helper in the bathroom demanded 10 bucks which I straight away refused, there were no changing rooms and I had to dry harshu in a corner and wear him new clothes he was all fresh and clean ; its a custom to apply sandalwood paste after tonsure as it has antiseptic and cooling properties ,there was an old lady who was doing this service for which she demanded 10 bucks considering her age I paid her that amount. Then we got the archanai basket and went inside the temple finished the entire process by 7.30 A.M by which time the crowd started pouring in and we were out searching for our auto guy, found him atlast .We were home by 8.Ashu was very happy he had to bunk school and I took off for the day. The entire day Harshu kept scratching his tonsured head probably he was missing his curly locks.Harshu received his first gift from me as I received the first receipt from my insurer for investing in LIC’s child career plan for Harshu which I had made a couple of weeks back ,what a coincidence? Wish and pray that Harshu gets only the best of the besttest in life.

India is Shinning

Tue, 24 Feb 2009 08:52:44 +0000

I was on hiatus from work to complete my business management program so didn’t blog for a while.

I guess you guys must have heard on the phenomenal success of “Slumdog Millionaire”. It was awesome to see our countrymen A.R.Rehaman and Resul Pookutty receive their Oscars at the 81st Annual Academy Awards.

Here’s why they deserve the Oscars :

A.R.Rahman‘s humbleness and determination is immense which has made him a household name in India. I was Exhilarated to hear “ELLA PUGAZHUM ERAIVANNUKE” ( All fame and glory to god) pronounced by ARR. He said “All my life , I’ve had a choice of hate and love. I chose love ,and I’m here” .

Resul Pookutty a man from a remote village from Kerala has not only brought laurels to Kerala but to the entire Nation. He dedicated the award to India saying “ I come from a country and civilization that gave the world the word that precedes silence and is followed by more silence. The word is “OM” .So I dedicate this ward to my country”. Fantabulous speech.

Danny Boyle – Director : I read an article on him where he said he became a clergyman to impress his mother but later chose to follow his heart to become a movie director and he’s done it now.

Jai Ho India !!!

Be Proud to be an Indian

Thu, 12 Feb 2009 08:53:00 +0000

People around the globe know about the greatness of our Nation than most of our natives. Its we who put down our Nation trying to ape the west, trying to falsely imbibe their culture and lifestyle into ours. For all those who donot know the value of our country.I would like you to read the following popular quotes by world renowned personalities: Albert Einstein : We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made. Mark Twain : India is, the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only. French scholar Romain Rolland : If there is one place on the face of earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India. Hu Shih, former Ambassador of China to USA: India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border. Discover Incredible India :( I know most of us must have read this earlier but lets refresh out thots again) India never invaded any country in her last 10000 years of history. India invented the Number System. Zero was invented by Aryabhatta. The World's first university was established in Takshila in 700BC. More than 10,500 students from all over the world studied more than 60 subjects. The University of Nalanda built in the 4th century BC was one of the greatest achievements of ancient India in the field of education. Sanskrit is the mother of all the European languages. Sanskrit is the most suitable language for computer software, reported in Forbes magazine, July 1987. Ayurveda is the earliest school of medicine known to humans. Charaka, the father of medicine consolidated Ayurveda 2500 years ago. Today Ayurveda is fast regaining its rightful place in our civilization. Although modern images of India often show poverty and lack of development, India was the richest country on earth until the time of British invasion in the early 17th Century. The art of Navigation was born in the river Sindh 6000 years ago. The very word Navigation is derived from the Sanskrit word NAVGATIH. The word navy is also derived from Sanskrit 'Nou'. Bhaskaracharya calculated the time taken by the earth to orbit the sun hundreds of years before the astronomer Smart.; Time taken by earth to orbit the sun: (5th century)365.258756484 days. The value of pi was first calculated by Budhayana, and he explained the concept of what is known as the Pythagorean Theorem. He discovered this in the 6th century long before the European mathematicians. Algebra, trigonometry and calculus came from India; Quadratic equations were by Sridharacharya in the 11th Century; The largest numbers the Greeks and the Romans used were 10^6(10 to the power of 6) whereas Hindus used numbers as big as 10^53(10 to the power of 53) with specific names as early as 5000 BCE during the Vedic period. Even today, the largest used number is Tera 10^12(10 to the power of 12). According to the Gemological Institute of America, up until 1896, India was the only source for diamonds to the world. Leave kids to enjoy their childhood

Mon, 09 Feb 2009 10:43:56 +0000

This weekend was quiet hectic for me & the family, I had to prepare for my Fourth Semester exams as well as shunting between Ashu’s school and home. He was preparing for his School’s annual Sports day ( which he would be blogging about today since our broadband at home is having some problems in connectivity) , Don was busy lighting Thiruvannamalai. Me and Ashu had a great time at school watching the kids perform Gymnastics,Yoga,a groups of students even danced to a Salsa number .It was great to watch and the Dean of the school Mrs. YGP encouraging every student and also the teachers were individually appreciated. The institution imbibes extra curricular activities in their curriculum as apart of education whereby children enjoy their childhood other than just being a bookworm . I as a parent would like to ponder a few things , I donot wish to raise just another intelligent child but I would want him to enjoy his childhood which is a every important part of growing up ; here I’ve got to mention my visit to my Dad’s place this weekend where I bumped into my Dad's nephew who lives away from our country ; While I was chilling out ashu picked up a Ben10 shoot ( u release the trigger and it flies like a Frisbee) immediately my cousin , a protective father of his 4&1/2 yrs son said he doesnot wish his son to know anything about Guns or voilence which was agreeable then started of with his son being a regular surfer on google (which kid doesn't these days? Ashu was the youngest blogger in the country),something about knowing 180 countries etc . Kids these days are very curious and explorative ofcourse with the help of Technology and communication . As part of parenting he only teaches him stuff where he uses only his head and that in his country the word or even the action of a gun is a taboo but the part which triggered my Ego was when he said that his place has civilized people and that no civilized individual will want violence and gory stuff and this was the reason he did not wish to stay in a country like India . I get pissed when people bad mouth about our country. Indians have launched Chandrayan ,we are head of Technology , we have tested our missile, we had a rocket scientist as our President , we have 1652 languages in a country whose total area is 32,87,590 sq km, our per capita income is Rs.33,131/- but a few people still put us in all possible ways. Coming to raising childrens , I would like to know one thing if every single parent thinks that their children should improve their intelligence only; then where would the world get the likes of David Bechkam, Vishwanthan Anand, Sania Mirza, Leander Peas,Martina Navaratilova, William sister , Steffi Graf, Chris Evert, Mohammed Ali ,Joshna Chinappa ,Maradonna …….? then why do we have Olympics, The Grand Slams , the Grande prix ? Every parent should watch this movie of Aamir Khan “Taare Zamine Par” the storyline of the movie is very simple yet powerful ,its exactly what the parents are doing to the kids these days. They raise their kids to win the race for tomorrow ,the question is if they only want their kids to win the race then they should be breeding horses not kids. As a child I remember climbing trees ,compound walls of neighbors, shouting , running ,screaming on the roads, playing in the rain with friends, playing cricket in the streets , bursting crackers , moonlight dinners, cycling with friends. Gosh am so lucky that I lived my childhood carefree and my memory comes back alive when I see Ashu do exactly what I did. The least we can do for the future generation is by not maiming their childhood and teach them to respect our Nation. Jai Hind !!!Original post blogged on b2evolution.[...]

Villu on a saturday afternoon

Mon, 02 Feb 2009 09:18:55 +0000

Last Saturday my friend and I wanted to meet since Ashu had school I chose to meet her in the morning , we met at her mom’s place as usual we yakked through the morning by afternoon her son started cribbing and so we planned to hit a movie since her son was a major Vijay freak we settled for “ Villu” matinee show. We landed at the cinema hall at around 2ish to our surprise we got tickets for 2.30 show We took our respective seats, though I hate the star cast I loved the happiness in the little one. The movie started with the old song number of MGR’s as its title song which obviously did not gel next the directors and the hero have tried a something different for the intro song of the ilayathalapathi with not an iota of expression on his dumb face , usually hero’s in tamil movies rescue their sister, wife, friend’s sister from the goons but Villu hero Pugazh ( vijay) comes from no where to rescues a girl of a flower seller ;no there is absolutely no relation with the woman or some flashback with the gangster’s , he fights with them and rescues the girl just to gain entry for the intro song , after the song the secretive vijay speaks with a cop; the director has kept the suspense to the end of the movie; we donot know if vijay and the cop are good or bad ,all our hero has to do is follow the instruction of the cop via chat they have used technology ( déjà vu Assassin). The song is for Vinayaga chathurthi celebration, all the vinayaka figures are immersed in the sea our ilayathalapathy gets inside one of the figures and uses the hand as oars to sail through the waters (Wow what a master plan this is freaking man!!! ) to get into the docked ship , the cops are attired in orange outfit they are also surrounding the ship which has the villan ,now our super hero takes the villain rather rescues him from the cops ( confusing again I told u earlier on the suspense rite) into a huge container and the container is lifted in air now you wont believe this the container opens and our super hero and villain jumps into the sea in a water scooter OMG . No No, this is not a James Bond movie .Vijay has one gun and there are 10 water scooters with 2 men in each following him and he shoots at them aimlessly. Uffff . Now our hero’s ladylove Jhanavi (Nayanthara) comes clad in skimpy outfits throughout the movie even for her friends wedding shows her midriff in all the scenes as possible but sadly after she lost weight she has’nt toned down well especially her stomach part it did look yuck instead of looking voluptuous . she does a drunken act in this movie too just like yaradi nee mohini. The comedian Vadivelu did try to tickle us but his trick did’nt work well , the fight scene with an animated cow was way too childish. The swiss airport authorities mistake him to be an escaped monkey was really atrocious. As for the music score none of the songs were worth remembering or humming. Prakash Raj in villain role had no space for performance - talent wasted is what I would call. Don’t understand Y an actor like him should accept such roles ? Is it for money or just another obligation from Director/Producer for old times sake. Prakash should be doing more versatile roles as in Abhiyum Nanum,Mozhi, Asai, Vellithirai, Gilli . He should be experimenting with characters than just accepting run of the mill roles. There was one more freaked out scene where Nayan takes the hero for the usual meet my parents stuff , both the hero and the heroine get frisked before they enter the house then the hero is attached by one of the guards : I know you must be at the edge of your seat thinking our hero has no weapons to fight against the guards but our smart & talented hero pulls his belt and viola it becomes a sword . All vijay’s fans must have been thrilled by his secretive moves . At last our super hero is good and is taking revenge of all the people who killed[...]

Me & Ashu

Mon, 17 Jul 2006 06:21:31 +0000

Today Ashwanthe was very happy.
His first day to School in an Autorickshaw,
he was so thrilled ,got up early, finished his breakfast(though he's never a fussy Kid),
to my disbelief Ashu did'nt want to watch Power Rangers;Promised not to watch it as he would'nt improve on his English.
Me & Ashu were out of the house by 8.00 A.M expecting the rick.
We were waiting for 10 minutes downstairs ,until then ashu and I were singing & dancing for the number "Its the Time to disco" (one of Ashu's Favourite),then we were reading his English book.
Ah, Atlast the rick came ,Ashu was so happy to say "bye" to me.
I Started my day in a very good mood, wish every day be the same :]
