Rotterdam man killed in Sunday night crash in Glenville

A 30-year-old Rotterdam motorcyclist was killed Sunday night in a collision with a Schenectady man's sedan, Glenville police said. At about 7:20 p.m., Zachary Granger was headed south on Freemans Bridge Road on a 2014 Suzuki motorcycle.

Diana Shipping Inc. has announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has entered into a time charter contract with DHL Project & Chartering Limited, Hong Kong, for one of its Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Ismene. The gross charter rate is US$12,000 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum 12 months to maximum 15 months.

Smoky condition prompts evacuation of Rotterdam mall

Via port mall was briefly evacuated after smoke billowed from a overloaded electrical cord in a pet store, firefighters said. The man was cleared out for about 30 minutes after the smoky condition was found at Something Fishy Aquarium, said Assistant Chief Mike France of the South Schenectady Fire Department.

Gasoline exports from Europe across the Atlantic are set to surge in coming days as traders plug supply gaps after Tropical Storm Harvey crippled refineries in the U.S. Gulf Coast. Many of the shipments are expected to end up in Latin America, which has become increasingly reliant on gasoline and diesel supplies from the U.S. Gulf Coast in recent years amid fast-growing demand in emerging economies such as Mexico and Brazil, traders said.

Woman charged with DWI near Taco Bell drive-through

A Taco Bell customers suspected of being drunk in the drive-through lane was charged with felony DWI after Rotterdam police said they found her with children in her vehicle. At 11:47 p.m. Friday, police received a call for a report of a possible intoxicated woman driving a dark-colored SUV with children inside going through the drive-through of Taco Bell on Altamont Avenue.
