(Best Syndication News) - Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) has launched support for their Amazon Instant Video app on the Nintendo Wii game console. On November 18, 2012, Amazon released the app for the Nintendo Wii U game console and this latest support is for the previous model.

Amazon Instant Video has over 145,000 movies and TV shows available to watch. The app allows Amazon Prime subscribers to watch over 33,000 movies and TV shows on the Nintendo Wii game console. The Prime membership ($79 per year) gives upgrades on shipping and unlimited viewing of specific movies and TV shows.

DIRECTV Customers can now watch STARZ PLAY and ENCORE PLAY Online

The service was previously only available to COX and AT&T U-verse TV subscribers. Dish Network, Verizon, and Xfinity presently have other online-viewing options available for STARZ or ENCORE.

Netflix enters Multi-year Agreement with Disney

(Best Syndication News) - Netflix subscribers will be able to see the Disney theatrical films during the same period as Pay TV customers starting in 2016. Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) announced the multi-year agreement with The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) today.

The new licensing agreement will commence in 2013 with high-profile Disney direct-to-video new-releases that will be made available on Netflix. Starting in 2016, theatrically released feature films from Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, and Disneynature will become available to view on Netflix on their streaming “Watch Instantly” service at the same time Premium Pay TV gets to air the film. The streaming will be allowed on televisions, tablets, computers, and mobile phones.

‘Harry Potter: The Exhibition’ returns to New York

The exhibit was such a big hit in 2011, according to the show’s organizers; they had to make a return event. They revamped the show to display even more relics from the films, including the items from the final movie.

The exhibit will include hundreds of original props and costumes that were used in the creation of the popular Harry Potter movies. The exhibition will include items that were used in the filming of the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ - Part 2. The 14,000-square-foot exhibit gives plenty of great insight on how much effort went into the props and costumes for these films.

(Best Syndication News) - A new agreement between EPIX and Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), will help AMZN show more titles in the Prime Instant Video library. Movies include popular new releases such as The Avengers, Iron Man 2, The Hunger Games, Super 8, Thor and more.

The multi-year agreement reached with EPIX will add thousands more titles for Prime Instant Video subscribers. Movies from Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, and Lionsgate will be included from this licensing agreement. Some more titles being added are Transformers Dark of the Moon Rango, Kick Ass, Paranormal Activity 2, True Grit, The Lincoln Lawyer, and Justin Bieber Never Say Never.

SONY unveils new 84-inch XBR 4K TV set with Four Times the Resolution than 1080p HDTV

(Best Syndication News) - Today, SONY unveiled their newest XBR 4K TV set at their San Diego headquarters. The large 84-inch display (measured diagonally) is an LED panel television set that is capable of delivering four times the resolution compared to the HDTV sets currently on the market. The XBR-84X900 TV set will also be Internet capable and 3D.

The 4K resolution is 3840 x 2160 pixels. The set can display that resolution so long as the source can send that resolution. The signal is sent through a single HDMI cable. With this TV set, consumers will be able to enjoy digital still photos from their cameras displayed at the 4K resolution on the large screen display. If the 4K resolution becomes the new standard, more devices and broadcasts with the higher resolution will become available.

The Frog and Toad book series, by Arnold Lobel, include five short stories. The stories are about a frog and his friend toad.

Additionally, Jim Henson Company has reached a multi-category licensing and merchandising program in the US and Canada with HarperCollins Children’s Books for the “Frog and Toad” property.

30th Anniversary special 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial' movie to be released on Blu-Ray

(Best Syndication News) - Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced that the film E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be released on Blu-Ray in a special 30th anniversary pack in October 2012. The combo pack will have a blu-ray disc, a DVD, a digital copy and Ultraviolet support.

The film has been digitally remastered to have 6 times the resolution of the DVD release and it will also have 7.1 surround sound. The original 1982 theatrical release of the movie, along with an all-new interview with Steven Spielberg will be included on this anniversary release. Additionally, "The E.T. Journals" will include never before seen footage of the movie.

Netflix strikes Multi-Year Streaming Content deal with DreamWorks Animation

(Best Syndication News) - Netflix announced today that they have reached a multi-year licensing agreement with DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. The online streaming movie and television subscription service will have the first-run exclusive of feature films and certain TV specials from the production company. DreamWorks produced ‘Shrek,’ ‘Madagascar,’ ‘Kung Fu Panda,’ and ‘How to Train your Dragon.’

The deal starts in 2013 with Netflix offering the DreamWorks Animation feature films with their streaming video service. Netflix will continue to offer more DreamWorks titles as time goes on.

Netflix did not disclose the financial costs of this contract deal.

When members log in and click on the ‘Just for Kids’ tab there are several short cut links of favorite animated characters and TV show actors. Clicking on these links will bring up a listing of TV shows or movies that have these people or characters in them. The TV episodes are all listed as separate listings. American Airlines begins offering Streaming Entertainment On Demand Service during Flights

(Best Syndication News) - American Airlines, Inc. (NYSE: AMR) announced the first phase of their Entertainment On Demand streaming video rental service during flights. The airline will be the first to offer this new on-demand service.

The streaming video will be available on American Airlines’ Boeing 767-200 aircraft, which is a fleet of 15 planes. During the initial phase, videos will be available on most of their flights between New York JFK and Los Angeles, and with flights between JFK and San Francisco. The introductory rate is 99 cents for each TV show and $3.99 for each movie rented.

The way the streaming on demand rental service works is the traveler, with a compatible Wi-Fi enabled laptop, will be able to access the in-flight library list of 100 TV shows and Movies. If they want to watch the show or movie, they sign up and then pay for the rental with either a credit card or debit card. The show is then streamed wirelessly to the laptop for viewing. The customer has 24 hours to view a movie and 72 hours to view a TV show. If they have not yet watched the rental, they can also watch the show on the ground using the same viewer they did during the flight. See demonstration below.

Netflix Splits Rental Plans – Increase rates up to 25 percent for some Subscribers

(Best Syndication News) - Netflix announced today that they would be splitting their rental plans into DVD-Only Plans and an Unlimited Streaming Plans, both start at $7.99 per month to subscribe. The rate increase will happen to customers who want to continue with the DVD mail subscription and the Unlimited Streaming Plan.

New customers will already have the new pricing and plans, while existing customers will not see the rate increase until September 1, 2011. Those that have only one DVD rental mailed out at a time will see a rate reduction of $1, which will be $7.99 per month instead of $8.99.

Netflix will offer two subscriptions. So if you want the watch instantly streaming service and the DVD rental service, the rate would be $7.99 + $7.99. This adds up to $15.98 per month.
