Department: Student Health ServiceSalary: CommensurateAdvertising Ends On: Applications are being accepted for consideration; however, the position may be filled at any time.Job Duties: Provide senior leadership, direction, management, and coordination of Student Health Service functions to support and promote the health of students.  These functions include providing students comprehensive primary care including mental health and pharmaceutical health care; offering educational and wellness health promotion programs to create healthy and balanced lifestyles; and monitoring the campus environment to prevent or control the transmission of infectious diseases among students on campus while maintainining a financially sound and self-supporting organization. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides strategic leadership, direction, and management of Student Health Service operations, programs, and services. Ensures that routine operations, programs, and services of the Student Health Service are professionally and efficiently organized, administered, and delivered. Develops, maintaintains, and provides leadership for the staff of the Student Health Service. Develops Student Health Service organizational structure with appropriate leadership positions and provides supervision for these positions. Oversees the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of all staff members. Provides leadership and direction for campus-wide student health promotion and student education programs. Provides leadership and direction for administration of the Student Health Service financial management system. Develops strategic goals, financial projections, and program assessments for the Student Health Service on an annual basis or as indicated for the continued development of a financially sound health care system for students; ensures that the programs and services of Student Health Service is managed in a fiscally responsible manner. Creates systematic programs to improve quality and manage risk, including professional development programs, monitoring of clinical practices and standards, and regular assessments of the quality of care and levels of student satisfaction with services; directs the performance improvement and patient safety programs and is responsible for maintaining accreditation through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Maintains liaison with the University of Iowa Healthcare through the Chief Medical Officer of the University of Iowa Physicians. Works collaboratively with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Pharmaceutical Care to provide leadership and direction for the operation of the Westlawn Pharmacy. Develops and promotes collaborative initiatives on campus, in the community, and with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics that advance the mission of the Student Health Service. Ensures effective collaboration and cooperative case management between the Student Health Service and other health-related programs and services in the Division of Student Life. Assesses the needs for the physical facilities of the Student Health Service and develops goals and projections for necessary changes, replacements, and/or additions. Represents the Vice President for Student Life as administrative liaison to the Charter Committee on Student Health. Provides, either directly or through delegation, leadership and responsibility for appropriate representation and coordination of activities pertinent to the health and well-being of students; serves as spokesperson for the University's health programs for students. Maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. The above may be accomplished through delegation, cooperation, and collaboration with members of the Student Health staff as well as through UI Healthcare personnel, deans, Student Life departments, and community agencies.
