Job Duties:

The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management, Utilities and Energy Management, is seeking a Utilities Distribution Planning & Scheduling Specialist who will work with Shop Managers and Supervisors to develop and schedule detailed work plans for mechanical distribution (steam, chilled water, storm and sanitary sewer, water, and compressed air systems), secure controls network maintenance, and electrical distribution maintenance. This position will develop, maintain, and improve preventative maintenance work orders. The Planner will utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for scheduling of preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities and assist with tracking of replacement equipment inventory. This position will work with Central Shops to ensure adequate stocking of key components and will generate, communicate, and track outage schedules.

The manager works cooperatively with UIHC and UI departments in the design, coordination and implementation of capital and non-capital projects. This position provides oversight and management responsibility for the pneumatic tube system including staffing, maintenance and repair. In addition, the manager develops and maintains project budgets for program and electrical systems. Financial Management: Develop and support shop and cost center budget(s). Assists Director with developing and maintaining budget through recommendations and monitoring labor and non-labor expenses.  Develops and maintains inventory systems to ensure cost effective supply availability; creates, approves and receives purchase requisitions. Human Resources Management: Provide continuous comprehensive training and coaching opportunities for delegation of duties when appropriate. Provide purpose, direction and motivation through leadership and coaching to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will lead the Custodial Services organization of approximately 260 FTE, with an operating budgets of over $17 million, providing services within 6.6 million cleanable square feet of campus research, teaching, assembly, library and office space.  The University of Iowa campus includes over 200 buildings and spans 1900 acres, thus balancing the diverse needs of our customers while also ensuring proper stewardship of the facilities they occupy is a key responsibility for this position.
