2019 Toyota Avalon vs. full-size sedans: How they compare on paper

Mon, 23 Apr 2018 11:50:00 EDT

(image) Full-size sedans aren't exactly in great demand at the moment, and at least one of the vehicles in this comparison has been rumored to be on the endangered species list. Yet, we've just had our first drive in the 2019 Toyota Avalon, and if anything has a chance of rejuvenating the segment a bit, it's an all-new version of what has long been the segment's benchmark.

(image) Nissan is following up on last-year's expedition-ready Titan Basecamp pickup with yet another expedition-ready vehicle. This time the company is going with its Nissan Patrol full-size SUV and it looks pretty sweet. From the renderings, it looks like it's getting a number of off-road staples such as big steel bumpers, a substantial suspension lift, big tires, lots of auxiliary lights and a winch. It also has gas cans, traction boards, and a rooftop tent. It should have everything you need to camp

Sunday Drive: Big debuts from the Big Apple dominated the headlines

Sun, 01 Apr 2018 09:00:00 EDT

(image) New York Auto Show week has come and gone, and, not surprisingly, the week's biggest bits of news came from the halls of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NYC. Our favorite debut from New York was the Lincoln Aviator, a sharp-dresses crossover that looks lovely inside and out, and sits on underpinnings at least partly derived from the Ford Mustang.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs. midsize crossovers and SUVs: How they compare on paper

Fri, 30 Mar 2018 14:50:00 EDT

(image) In a world full of SUVs and crossovers all competing for similar buyers in similar segments, there are still some models that find their own little niches that lack such fevered fighting. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of those vehicles. It's an oddball in the sense that it's a midsize crossover SUV with a unibody chassis and independent suspension, but it still uses rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive systems and has some off-road capability. It's also a midsize crossover, but only offers two

Wed, 28 Mar 2018 14:30:00 EDT

(image) Midsize family sedans may be losing sales to small SUVs, but hundreds of thousands of the things still left dealerships last year. The 2019 Nissan Altima introduced here at the New York Auto Show replaces one of the segment's best sellers, joining a pair of other best-sellers, the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, which were both redesigned last year.

2019 Nissan Altima wants to shake up midsize sedans

Wed, 28 Mar 2018 09:45:00 EDT

(image) Nissan designed the sixth-generation 2019 Altima to fulfill a lofty mission: shake up the midsized sedan segment. The carmaker said it was already well into work on its formerly best-selling vehicle when the Rogue crossover became the most popular Nissan on the lot. Once the Altima had been freed from the constraint of being the company's No. 1 in the U.S., Nissan decided to go further with the Atima's design and detailing, and make it a global car. The result sits on a new platform, gets two ne

Nissan finally approves 370Z successor — or does it?

Mon, 19 Mar 2018 08:20:00 EDT

(image) Autocar cites "senior officials from Nissan" for confirmation that a next-generation Z-car is on the way. The UK mag says the two-door has the codename Z35, will get coupe and convertible versions, and will arrive in time for the 240Z's 50th anniversary in 2019, in concept form at very least. Problem is, after reading through everything, we can't tell if this is merely another mutation of the same body of rumors that has been treading water for at least three years now.
