Meet Axe Cop

2014-05-17T08:27:52Z

Axe Cop is about exactly what you're thinking: a cop with an axe. From the press release, "Operating on only two minutes of sleep a night and fueled by a diet consisting solely of birthday cake, awesome superhero Axe Cop and his loyal partner, Flute Cop, unleash their unique brand of vigilante justice on bad guys everywhere. Created and written by Malachai Nicolle (age five) and his brother, Ethan Nicolle (age thirty), Axe Cop was developed for television by Nick Weidenfeld and Judah Miller (American Dad). Weidenfeld, Hend Baghdady, Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser (Drawn Together) serve as executive producers. The series ensemble cast includes Megan Mullally (Bob's Burgers, Out There), Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille), Ken Marino (Childrens Hospital), Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead) and weekly guest stars such as Giancarlo Esposito (Revolution) rapper Tyler, The Creator, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad), Rob Huebel (Despicable Me) and Dan Harmon (Community)." Axe Cop, himself, is played by Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation, Megan Mullally's husband). Axe Cop was originally a web comic, which found a small but loyal following of fans. The plots and characters are so outlandish because five year-old Malachai Nicolle feeds his brother, Ethan Nicolle, the ideas. Axe Cop anchors a late-night block of programming on FOX, called ADHD, on Saturdays, along with High School USA!, created by Dino Stamatopoulos (Community). The ADHD brand is already establishing itself with an official YouTube channel. Adult Swim has been monopolizing the late-night cartoon market for years. Not that Adult Swim is offering low quality shows, but competition ups everyone's game. Between ADHD and Adult Swim, the wee hours are much funnier. Picture courtesy of FOX/ADHD.
