Tantric Buddhist Transmissions USA and Europe 2016 To Be Given By His Holiness Sakya Trizin

Sat, 05 Mar 2016 02:03:44 GMT2016-03-05T02:03:44Z

Tantric Buddhist Transmissions USA and Europe 2016 To Be Given By His Holiness Sakya Trizin Keywords: Mahayana Buddhism, Bodhisattva precepts, Sakya Lineage, Goddess Tara, Kalacakra, Hevajra, Lamdre, Vajrayogini, Manjusri, Avalokitesvara, Vajrapani. This post gives an introduction to the Sakya lineage of Into-Tibetan tantra and Mahayana, current information on the schedule of HH Sakya Trizin, references and a major teaching reference on Mahayana Buddhism. Prayer to Sakya Pandita: You who have the eye of wisdom that sees all that is knowable, The compassion that brings about the welfare of all beings, The strength that accomplishes inconceivable enlightened action, Lama, you who are Mañjuśrī in person, at your feet I pray! ". . . with method and wisdom together, we can realize the true nature of the mind. On the basis of that realization and increasing wisdom, we will eventually reach full realization and attain enlightenment." - His Holiness the Sakya Trizin H.H.Sakya Trizin chants 100 syllable mantra of Vajrasattva 49,771 Sakya Trizin "How to Face Difficult Circumstances" 16,139 "The Sakya Lineage" by H.H. the Sakya Trizin 2,507 His Holiness Sakya Trizin 's Son chants Vajrakilaya mantra 萨迦法王唱诵-普巴金刚心咒 4,128 The Sakya tradition developed during the second period of translation of Buddhist scripture from Sanskrit into Tibetan in the late 11th century. It was founded by Drogmi, a famous scholar and translator who had studied at the Vikramashila directly under Naropa, Ratnākaraśānti, Vagishvakirti and other great panditas from India for twelve years.[1] Konchog Gyalpo became Drogmi's disciple on the advice of his elder brother.[2][3] The tradition was established by the "Five Venerable Supreme Masters" starting with the grandson of Khonchog Gyalpo, Sachen Kunga Nyingpo, who became known as Sachen, or "Great Sakyapa". From short biography of HH Sakya Trizin: (c) His Holiness' life has been committed to teaching and spreading the Dharma. As water is poured from one vase into another, His Holiness the Sakya Trizin first received from many teachers, all of the profound teachings of the Sakya order and many of the teachings and transmissions of the other lineages of Tibetan Buddhism, and then passed on these teachings to his monks and followers around the world. Since exile from Tibet, India has since served as a base for His Holiness to spread the Dharma throughout the world. Besides having countless disciples in India and other eastern countries, since 1974 he has made several journeys to the west where he has taught extensively. His Holiness has written a large number of texts, and has bestowed the vast Lam Dre teaching on several occasions. Indeed, His Holiness has given the Uncommon and Common Lam Dre teachings during previous visits to Australia in 1988, 1997 and most recently in 2009. Due to His Holiness' efforts and influence, there are now Sakya Centres in India, Nepal, Singapore and nearly every Western country. Tantric Buddhist Retreats, Teachings and Transmissions : A Global Survey

Sun, 12 Apr 2015 08:19:32 GMT2015-04-12T08:19:32Z

Tantric Buddhist Retreats, Teachings and Transmissions : A Global Survey Keywords: Meditation, mysticism, yoga, mantra, psychic healing and purification, Buddhism, Mahayana, tantra, empowerment. From "To my friends in New York I say hello, my friends in LA they don't know where I've been for the past few years or so Paris to China to Colorado...when everything is out you've gotta take it in...this is goodness you can't fight." -- One Republic Q: “what is new in retreats?” KT answers in detail here. You mean in spiritual retreats and meditation retreats? Well, for Buddhists there are always tons of retreats going on, some shorter or longer. Most people who are on short or extended meditation+yoga retreats, including retreats on mystical practices, are Buddhist. ( That is, if they have any formal spiritual or dharmic affiliation. Very few "yoga people" or "meditators" in the West have formal spiritual or dharmic affiliation. E.G. To be an actual Buddhist, one must have Buddhist Refuge from a Buddhist teacher. ) Some Buddhists do three year three month retreats. Two day retreats and week long retreats are quite common. Here I will give some information on three world class Buddhist gurus and a large set of background resources for Buddhist teaching. The Buddhist gurus are (1) HH the Dalai Lama, (2) Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, and (3) H.E. Garchen Rinpoche. (1) You've already heard of the Dalai Lama. I placed detailed and updated word of Dalai Lama teachings on seventy ( 70 ) tribes. Shortly he is giving a retreat in Australia. Next year he is giving twelve days of teaching and transmission in Northern India. ( See below. ) (2) Namkhai Norbu gives short teaching retreats in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Europe. I have attended four webcasts for these in the last year. These were held in Australia, South America, North America, and Europe. Namkhai Norbu is spreading a rich and powerful set of Buddhist transmissions in many parts of the world. I strongly recommend these transmissions and use them myself. ( Schedule follows. ) (3) H.E. Garchen Rinpoche gives retreats in the Far East, North America, and Europe. I have received two major cycles of transmission from H.E. Garchen Rinpoche and major cycles of transmission from several other Drikung Kagyu teachers, including the principal lineage holder H.H. Chetsang Tulku Rinpoche. These are powerful and wonderful teachers and their Kagyu lineage ( which descends from Milarepa, the King of the Mountain yogis ) is quickly becoming well established in different parts of the world. I strongly recommend these as well. ( Schedule follows. ) If you go thru my Tribe listings, you will find many entries for Buddhist practice centers, teachers, practices, and events. In Australia, North America, and Europe. My Tribe listings have been read 135,000 times by the close of 2014. Of that total, over 120,000 page views have been for Buddhist teachings and transmissions and resources. So, the word is out there. It has been since 2007 on various parts of Tribe. But a teacher's work is never done. Resources and schedules follow. These include some chants for three major Buddhist practices, those of Guru Padmasambhava, Medicine Buddha, and Avalokitesvara. All this teaching is about Buddhist wizardry. So here's to the Mahayana and all who may sail in her. This is dedicated to the bodhisattva witches and wizards of the next generation. Do us proud! Written in partial fulfillment of my formal responsibilities as Mahayana Buddhist guru. HH The Dalai Lama in Switzerland and Denmark Feb 2015 / Avalokitesvara Initiation in Switzerland / Buddhist Resources

Fri, 28 Nov 2014 03:26:20 GMT2014-11-28T03:26:20Z

HH The Dalai Lama in Switzerland and Denmark Feb 2015 / Avalokitesvara Initiation in Switzerland / Buddhist Resources "Benefiting all beings is central to the Buddhist tradition." -- The Seventeenth Karmapa, Urgyen Trinley Dorje, 23 Feb 2000 Are You Spiritual But Not Religious? 10 Reasons Why Buddhism Will Enrich Your Path by Melvin McLeod | October 30, 2014 © 2013 Lion’s Roar and Shambhala Sun 1. There is no Buddhist God. 2. It’s about your basic goodness. 3. The problem is suffering. The answer is waking up. 4. The way to do that is by working with your mind. 5. No one can do it for you. But you can do it. 6. There is a spiritual, nonmaterial reality. 7. But you don’t have to take anything on faith. 8. Buddhism offers a wealth of skillful means for different people’s needs. 9. It’s open, progressive, and not institutional. 10. And it works. [ The article elaborates on these points. ] ---------------------------- HH The Dalai Lama in Switzerland and Denmark Avalokitesvara Initiation in Switzerland "And it is our collective and individual responsibility to protect and nurture the global family, to support its weaker members, and to preserve and tend to the environment in which we all live." His Holiness the Dalai Lama Public Talk in Basel, Switzerland on February 8: His Holiness will give a public talk on Secular Ethics for Today’s World in the afternoon organized by the Tibetan Community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein at St. Jakobshalle. Contact Website: Secular Ethics for today’s world 8 February 2015, 13:00 - 15:00 "His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has often said that in today’s secular world, religion alone is no longer adequate as a basis for ethics… any religion-based answer to the problem of our neglect of inner values can never be universal, and so will be inadequate. What we need today is an approach to ethics which makes no recourse to religion and can be equally acceptable to those with faith and those without: a secular ethics. "We need our education system to broaden its remit and in addition to impart knowledge to sharpen the brain, to encourage the development of a warm heart." 7 February 2015, 09:30 - 11:30 Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta touches on the two aspects of the awakening mind, the twin qualities of wisdom and compassion, which are necessary for anyone who aspires to be a better person and implement change in their lives. The instructions for cultivating them within each of us are explained in this teaching, so that individuals may follow in the footsteps of the Buddha. Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike, come away profoundly moved and motivated to take responsibility and create positive changes in their lives. 7 February 2015, 13:00 - 15:00 The Eight Verses of Training the Mind is the earliest compilation of a special genre of Tibetan Buddhist literature known as "mind training," or lojong in Tibetan. The Eight Verses for Training the Mind deal with the practices associated with cultivating the method aspect of the path such as compassion, altruism, aspiration to attain buddhahood, and so on. The eighth verse deals with the practices that are directed toward cultivating the wisdom aspect of the path. 8 February 2015, 09:30 - 11:30 Avalokiteshvara (tib. Chenresig) particularly embodies compassion of a Buddha indiscriminately directed at all sentient beings. In this ritual intended especially for practicing Buddhists, the Dalai Lama transmits the blessings of Avalokiteśvara. This ritual is a prerequisite in order to subsequently meditate on this [...]

Re: 3HO kundalini yoga references, siddhi, and tantra. Teaching References.

Tue, 07 Oct 2014 21:40:14 GMT2014-10-07T21:40:14Z

Re: 3HO kundalini yoga references, siddhi, and tantra. Teaching References. From Re Naji: "can someone post a kriya that give siddhis from the kundalini yoga of yogi bhajan!" I will recommend a Yogi Bhajan book to you from the standard trade. It is "Breathwalk", and you can have it shipped from Amazon. The full book reference follows this letter. In particular I recommend trying the 8/8/8 breath given in that book to get a feel for the practice. Even a seventh grader can do that, and it is powerful. I give that practice, and another key reference for pranayam, again from the 3HO Sikh tradition of Yogi Bhajan. These two books provide you a powerful set of practices, and these are mostly unknown to the western yoga teachers. So if you master this stuff, you are mostly beyond the western yoga teachers. And that is the real story. Now I would like to give you some real and important context and background. It is important to have that for real yoga sadhana, for real spiritual practice. I began connecting with 3HO kundalini yoga, the 3HO Sikhs, and Yogi Bhajan in 1979. I guarantee that the kundalini yoga material posted online by 3HO teachers today is identical with what I received in person back then, or follows that very very closely. So that answers your question. Go to the licensed 3HO sources online. But your query, though straightforward, draws in a number of issues concerning siddhi and lineage, both theoretical and practical. In this post I will address these in depth, and provide clear guidance to get people past some of the major blocking issues and problems. Please note that I am no physician nor am I a muggle type psychologist, and that the use of these techniques is no substitute for professional medical or clinical psychological care. Be careful and listen to yourself, to your own body and mind. That is always primary. Be willing to stop or pause or drop a practice if you feel more unbalanced or messed up. Okay? That is the first point. The second point is that 3HO kundalini yoga is a priceless and powerful teaching. It is a saving grace. I strongly recommend it to all. It is powerful for healing, for consciousness development, for combat, and other stuff as well. That is my statement as individually licensed tantric Buddhist guru. Basically I recommend a depth and breadth approach that is classical and also adapted to the individual. As Bruce Lee said: "Do not be these styles. Styles separate men. It's a process of continuing growth." I know about kriya, sadhana, and siddhi. I teach kriya, sadhana and siddhi. The real basis of my kriya and siddhi is tantric Buddhist, and 3HO kundalini yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan has been a key part of my yoga sadhana since 1979. My 3HO book stack is a foot thick. And my tantric Buddhist sadhana bookshelf is seven plus feet long. Then there's a lot of other wizard stuff as well, from China and so forth. I am a a druid class wizard, and in particular a Defense Against the Dark Art Instructor. As in Harry Potter. See Dumbledore's Army practices the Patronus Charm. Simply put, the most effective and powerful magic for defense and combat magic will always be the Buddhist protector practices, the dharmapalas. And 3HO Sikhs don't do *any* of those. The Buddhist protectors can ward off, beat or break all the other stuff. That is my main siddhi /riddhi. And if I weren't really good then I wouldn't be alive. I also began developing some healing siddhi in the 1980s. It did not become great power because I had to use the healing power to keep myself going, to[...]

"The Tibetan Yogas Of Dream And Sleep"

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 02:28:27 GMT2014-09-18T02:28:27Z

"The Tibetan Yogas Of Dream And Sleep" [ Paperback ] by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche (Author), Mark Dahlby (Editor) Paperback: 224 pages Publisher: Snow Lion; 1st. ed edition (January 1, 1998) ISBN-10: 1559391014 N.B. This is a book on PRE-BUDDHIST Tibetan Bon tradition, NOT Tibetan Buddhism per se. The approach is similar but different. It makes no sense to do both, as the practices would interfere with each other. The Buddhist teachings and transmissions are far more broadly available in the West compared with the Bon teachings. Re: the drug abuse ( not ashtanga yoga ) of Baggie Rajneesh

Tue, 16 Sep 2014 07:30:28 GMT2014-09-16T07:30:28Z

B.S. quotes Rajneesh. But Rajneesh was never a "master". He was a yogically illiterate, drug-dependent, Hitler-friendly, amoral impostor. Also nailed on Tribe Practical Tantra I have given the "pedigree" for Baggy Ranjeesh: he had none whatsoever. He had no knowledge about Hindu or Buddhist practice because he never did any. He never mentioned any modern Hindu or Buddhist teachers because he had none. His claim to fame on social matters was being fully agreeable to the Nazi genocide of the Jews. Rajneesh thought it was funny. Because, somehow, several million lives do not matter. And that is why none of the European governments let him enter their countries. Because he was nothing but a vile, yogically illiterate sham, and his so-called followers followed nothing - no moral code whatsoever - but their own confusion, their own irrationality, their own cruel attempts to poison and murder many. These were sociopaths and psychopaths. As well as being the scum of the earth. And rejected by many governments as a means of protecting their peoples from harm and group insanity. This is all just a bad joke, after turning into a complete nightmare. This is the real outcome: there is no "spiritual legacy" for these overaged juvenile delinquents. This is worse than useless. Avoid these lunatics like the plague. They went full retard. Tropic Thunder (2008) "You never go full Retard!" KT

"Dream Yoga and the Practice of Natural Light"

Sat, 05 Jul 2014 14:33:25 GMT2014-07-05T14:33:25Z

"Dream Yoga and the Practice of Natural Light" [ Paperback ] by Chogyal Namkhai Norbu (Author), Michael Katz (Editor) Paperback: 168 pages Publisher: Snow Lion; Rev Exp edition (April 19, 2002) ISBN-10: 1559391618 In Dream Yoga and the Practice of Natural Light, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu gives instructions for developing clarity within the sleep and dream states. He goes beyond the practices of lucid dreaming that have been popularized in the West by presenting methods for guiding dream states that are part of a broader system for enhancing self-awareness called Dzogchen. In this tradition, the development of lucidity in the dream state is understood in the context of generating greater awareness for the ultimate purpose of attaining liberation. This revised and expanded edition includes additional material from a profound and personal Dzogchen book, which Chögyal Namkhai Norbu wrote over many years. This material deepens the first edition's emphasis on specific exercises to develop awareness within the dream and sleep states. Also included in this book is a text written by Mipham, the nineteenth-century master of Dzogchen, which offers additional insights into this extraordinary form of meditation and awareness. Editorial Reviews Review "A personal and inspiring account of the higher possibilities of sleep and dreams by an acknowledged master. Must reading for dreamers in search of awakening." —Stephen LaBerge, PhD, director of the Lucidity Institute and author of Lucid Dreaming "Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche is one of the greatest Tibetan meditation masters and scholars teaching in the West today. His luminous Dream Yoga teachings are invaluable for anyone interested in Buddhist practices and views on dreaming and the afterlife. These profound and liberating wisdom teachings from the ancient Dzogchen tradition of Tibet provide new perspectives on this life, on the nature of reality, and on the nature of consciousness and mind. I myself read this book with great interest and recommend it to my own students." —Lama Surya Das, founder of the Dzogchen Foundation and author of Awakening the Buddha "The new edition is sufficiently different from the already pivotal previous version to warrant purchasing it and working seriously with its contents. In the current edition, Rinpoche, who has had clear abilities in dream practices since his youth, expands his initial commentary on the 'practice of the night' with more specific explanations drawn from an intimate and detailed Dzogchen manuscript he has been writing for many years." —The Mirror "Provides a valuable practice to help calm the mind in lucid dreaming states so that we can truly deepen our awareness. Dream Yoga is not just about awakening in the dream state, but also bringing it together with our non-dream awareness as well." —Nate DeMontigny, Precious Metal About the Author Chögyal Namkhai Norbu is a Tibetan master of the Dzogchen tradition. He has been a professor at the Oriental Institute of the University of Naples, Italy, and is the author of many books, including The Crystal and the Way of Light, The Supreme Source, and Dzogchen: The Self-Perfected State. 53 of 55 people found the following review helpful Dream-practice in Tibetan Buddhism By Peacock Eye on November 22, 2004 This is a good book, probably the best of those available, on the bardo teachings of "dreaming" and "natural light", within th[...]

Profound yoga philosophy : "The Doctrine of Vibration: An Analysis of the Doctrines and Practices of Kashmir Shaivism"

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 20:06:55 GMT2014-07-03T20:06:55Z

Profound yoga philosophy : "The Doctrine of Vibration: An Analysis of the Doctrines and Practices of Kashmir Shaivism" And related texts and traditions of nondual tantra. And the Road To Shambhala. "Kashmir Shaivism has penetrated to that depth of living thought where diverse currents of human wisdom unite in a luminous synthesis." -- Rabindranath Tagore (9 May 1861 - 7 August 1941) Nobel Prize in Literature (1913). This volume "The Doctrine of Vibration" is one of The Great Books of Eastern Spiritual Practice, and one of the Great Books of Philosophy. It expounds the classical Spanda-Karika of the non-dual Hindu Saiva school. Amazing it is that no one on any of the yoga tribes mentioned it before in the last decade. It has now been brought to you, at long last, by a Buddhist guru. This book is a powerful and classical exposition of Hindu yoga philosophy. It blows past most everything else ( that is not Buddhist ). If you do not study this text, and do not study the I Ching, and do not study the core Buddhist teaching, then your ivy league school Master's Degree on Divinity is completely worthless: you don't know theology and I feel bad for you wasting that time and money! But there is a real theory to classical spiritual practice, and it comes from classical lineage. In this teaching article I will provide a broad context and background to introduce this type of sacred scripture and the philosophy of nondual yoga. Here is the key specific background: Kashmir Shaivism The book reference is A person teaching yoga sadhana should know the basics of yoga philosophy, at least for the source of their own type of sadhana. It is important to have a map and compass! That is why we have sutra and tantra. And yet, many "yoga teachers", perhaps most "yoga teachers" in the West, simply do not have a map or compass. This needs to change. There is a deeper, more profound level of sadhana than just stretching and calisthenics, although that is really helpful. Yoga sadhana is not a weight loss program for western women. That is not the purpose. It is nothing like the various fads and gimmicks, like swinging a dog at the end of your arm or the photos of people doing jnanamudra ( hand gestures ) and padmasana underwater, ten feet below the surface of a swimming pool. I see this type of silly nonsense in major national yoga journals, just as I do NOT see key teachings and practices of mantra yoga and tantra in those journals. What is wrong with this picture? Everything, to begin with. So let's fix that right now, shall we? Yoga is a path of inner spiritual development. It is not, strictly speaking, a muggle exercise program. Real yoga sadhana derives from the complex of Sanskrit Indic civilization, Ayurveda, and from the overlapping traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism ( Sanatana Dharma and Buddha dharma ). The Sikh ( 3H0 ) practices come from this tradition also. Somebody should tell Yoga Journal magazine about this, really. It is long overdue. But I'll tell you, from my background going back to 1979 in Buddhist and non-Buddhist tantra, and as a licensed Buddhist guru and Buddhist theologian. Two of the key pioneers of yoga in the West are almost completely unknown. They are the tantric Buddhist Alexandra David-Neel, and the tantric Buddhist Theos Bernard, who taught a [...]

Expecto Patronum! Ganesha / Ganapati "Lord of Obstacles" / The Elephant Headed God, Propitiated by mantra to remove obstacles.

Sat, 24 May 2014 05:43:29 GMT2014-05-24T05:43:29Z

Long may you run. - Neil Young Neil Young - Long may you run "We've been though some things together, With trunks of memories still to come..." During the most recent astrological grand cross I went all out and rewrote my Ganapati / Elephant Headed God article. It's better than some whole Ganapati books. It is really really cool! I outdid myself once more! And Ganapati is a primary and inclusive mantra remedy used in Hindu astrology and medicine. The link is below. ( Since a tribe listing but not the link fades from public view after a lunar cycle. ) You all know that I am not an astrologer. And it's also clear that I think mantra practice is really really important. Especially in 2014 - 2015. A lot is changing on the ground, and a lot is happening in the sky. It's a big big transition. ( More than I'd like to deal with, quite frankly. Can I have a breather now? ) And it doesn't work for people in general for people to hear about specifically Buddhist mantras, for astrology or anything else. Yes, there are Really Important Buddhist mantras for astrology, including mantras I have not mentioned. I'm mainly putting forward the Hindu mantras of Ganesh / Ganapati for astrological purposes, as well as making known that Vajrapani is a primary Buddhist mantra for dealing with astrological issues. The reason is simple : anyone can do Ganapati mantras, and you really do need to have Buddhist spiritual commitments ( such as Mahayana or Vajrayana commitments ) to do Vajrapani practice, or other Buddhist practice. On a large and general tribe such as this, the goal is to inform and help the community overall, not to evangelize or talk about something that many or most people cannot do. And the percentage of people in the USA or Europe or this large tribe who have a Vajrapani empowerment is really really small. ( Although many or most high Buddhist empowerments include Vajrapani. ) But everyone here who needs or wants a good astrological mantra can do ( the Hindu and pagan ) Ganapati, such as the one I do from time to time: OM GAM GANPATYIAE GAM NAMAH If they want. This is a very real concrete kind of help. On another level, my article links together the Hindu and yogic and astrological and magical tribes, and that has been overdue for years. Everybody now has a real Patronus Charm, even without the Acceptance Letter from Hogwarts School. OM GAM GANPATYIAE GAM NAMAH And you did not have to sign up with anybody, and you did not have to pay a single dollar or euro. You can do this mantra free lance style, if you want. And it is Hindu, not Buddhist, so I am not proselytizing for the Buddhists whom I most ably represent around the world. So I think we've all reached a Very Special Place, grammatically, astrologically, and ecumenically. I really am building bridges of understanding, all over Tribe and all over the world. I really am helping people go forward and deal with stuff. And I really am concerned about this whole 2014 - 2015 transition. I thought it was a big 2010 - 2012 astrological transition. But noooo, it has to go on for years longer. It has to be much longer and bigger and more powerful. Lucky us! And that requires more high level wizard support, such as the kind that apparently only I am willing and able to give. Rest assured that the Hindus and yoga teachers and wizards[...]
