Ozil and Alexis The Dream Ticket Ratings v Basel

Tue, 06 Dec 2016 22:04:25 +0000

Had we named a weaker side and failed to capitalise on PSG's failure to beat Ludogorets, I think we'd have been very annoyed, but that was an absolute joy to watch. We looked confident and hungry. Use of the football and movement in the final third was excellent. We got our rewards as PSG slipped up and we won the group when it had looked very unlikely.

True Blue

Tue, 06 Dec 2016 10:57:45 +0000

Having seen off the challenge of red and black at the weekend, Bath next have two shots to pot the blue. Home and away encounters against Cardiff Blues in the space of six days should be the pivotal point of Bath’s European Challenge Cup campaign. Cardiff top Pool 4 thanks to a bonus point edge over Bath. To progress Bath must win at least one of these two matches and to be sure of a favourable knockout draw, victory in both will be needed. Currently Bath stand in seventh position of potential qualifiers, behind Gloucester among the second placed teams, so qualification is in the balance despite a full win record to date. Cardiff coach Danny Wilson has pledged a robust welcome for the visitors from across the Severn Bridge: “We won both games earlier in the season and we're top of that pool. We certainly want to go in and fight to stay top of that pool.” The ECC represents Blues best chance of silverware this season. They sit 7th in the Pro 12 (their average position for the last six years) so motivation will be high for a competition where they believe they stand a good chance.

String of disasters

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 11:00:57 +0000

This was just  bad day all round. Losing out on a lucrative third round draw, losing Hignett to the stand, losing Rob Jones to yet another serious looking injury, losing four-nil ..

Bragging Rights

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 10:43:36 +0000

West Country rugby needs Bristol to stop up although that opinion was somewhat tempered when they were leading 6-0 at half time at Kingsholm. Fortunately normal service was restored after the break with three excellent tries and a penalty try earning Glaws a bonus point in a 26-18 win  ..

Is This The Year Of The Ox?

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 19:20:10 +0000

Upon signing for Arsenal, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain quickly became one of my favourite players. He had a slightly unfair advantage because I always used to sign him for my Arsenal team on Football Manager 2011, but there’s more to it than that. He has pace and power in abundance, and for me, there are few more exciting sights in football than watching a direct, attacking winger terrorising a helpless full back.

Harlequins vs Bath: Unstoppable Force meets Immovable Object

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 17:36:03 +0000

Bath came into this fixture with a record of 7 wins and only 1 loss, having slipped up at Welford Road. Quins meanwhile have been having an up and down season, with all of the ups happening at The Stoop where they remain unbeaten this year, and all of the downs happening on the road, where until the visit to Ospreys there had been a succession of sometimes painful losses.

GLOS SECOND HALF BLOWS AWAY BRIS

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 17:34:04 +0000

Bristol were in front at half time with Gloucester failing to trouble the scoreboard.  A vastly improved performance from the hosts in the second half took the game away from Bristol in emphatic fashion.  Two very late tries put a slight gloss on the final score but it was too little, too late and even the losing bonus point remained out of reach.  Time is fast running out for Bristol to retain a Premiership status that took so long to regain.

Prediction League Game 15 Peterhead 2 Vs 4 Airdrie

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 13:25:53 +0000

Airdrie made it six wins from six yesterday after beating Peterhead 4-2 at Balmoor Stadium. It was a blistering start for the Diamonds who went three goals up within 20 minutes. Yesterday’s result means we only have to beat Stenhousemuir and Livingston by the end of the second quarter and we’ve beat every team at least once this season.

Sanchez Hammers Home Hat Trick Player Ratings

Sat, 03 Dec 2016 19:47:46 +0000

It started to look like we might rue missed chances in the first half as West Ham grew into the game in the second half, but we hung on and put the game beyond doubt playing some excellent football in the second half. Good response to the League Cup disaster.

The final race of the 2016 Formula One season, the 2016 Abu Dhabi GP, would see Williams Martini driver Felipe Massa end his time in Formula One with a points scoring finish with a 9th place. Abu Dhabi GP: Massa 10th in his final qualifying

Sat, 26 Nov 2016 14:35:48 +0000

The results of qualifying for the 2016 Abu Dhabi GP would see the Williams Martini team secure 10th and 11th. For Felipe Massa this would be his last qualifying session in Formula One so it was a great way to finish his carer ahead of his team-mate. Valtteri Bottas would finish in 11th and would have the choice of tyres for the strat of the race.

Abu Dhabi GP: Bottas 9th for Williams Martini in FP3

Sat, 26 Nov 2016 11:26:25 +0000

After an encouraging start to the final practice session for the 2016 Abu Dhabi the results of the session was somewhat disappointing. Valtteri Bottas was able to keep in the top ten finishing in 9th but for team-mate Felipe Massa his session would see him down in 14th. His session was marked by a difficult qualifying simulation near the close of the session where he would spin as well as run wide seeing him drop down the times. Of more concern was the fact that both Force India cars were ahead of the Williams pair.

Abu Dhabi GP: Williams Martini drivers in top ten in FP2

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 14:54:18 +0000

The second Friday practice session for the 2016 Abu Dhabi GP would see both Williams Martini drivers finish in the top ten. Valtteri Bottas would be 7th and team-mate Feliep Massa 10th. It would be an uneventful session for both drivers as they worked through their option tyres runs on the ultrasoft tyre followed by longer runs. The team would split their drivers with Valtteri completing a longer run on the supersoft tyre while Felipe was on the soft.

Abu Dhabi GP: Massa 9th for Williams Martini in FP1

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 10:50:52 +0000

The opening Friday practice session for the 2016 Abu GP would see Williams Martini drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas finish in 9th and 15th. It was an uneventful session for the Williams team with both drivers focusing on the soft tyre. Felipe would have a small spin early in the session but this had no real impact on his session. Valtteri would complain about the performance of his car under braking seeing him well down the times.

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 13:30:38 +0000

In what is the final race of the 2016 Formula One season the Williams Martini team moves to the Yas Marina circuit for the 2016 Abu Dhabi GP. For the Williams team it is their final opportunity to move ahead of their rivals in the Constructors Championship, even if this is going to be a very difficult task. The team is hoping to see a repeat of their 2014 race that saw a double podium finish. The other significant moment in this race will be the fact that it will mark the end of Felipe Massa's Formula one career.

Team India Honors Moms

Fri, 04 Nov 2016 19:17:20 +0000

During the final ODI of the recent India versus New Zealand series when India entered the field to defend its 260 odd run total I did a double take, as many other fans probably did when I saw Saroj and Devaki and Pritiben as the names on the Jerseys....  Here is the story behind that.  Very nice gesture by the players and BCCI
