Monaco GP: Williams Martini Grand Prix Preview

Wed, 24 May 2017 13:24:12 +0100

The Williams Martini team moves to the famous harbourside circuit for the 2017 Monaco GP. This will be the first time the 2017 crars will run on this tight and twisty circuit so the driver are going to have to adapt to the wider cars. For the Williams team their drivers are at opposite ends of their experience of the circuit with Felipe Massa having been there for many races whereas for Lance Stroll this race will see his first vist to the circuit. This is going to make the challenge even more difficult as he still tries to get up to speed in Formula One.

India Retain No. 1 Test Ranking

Mon, 22 May 2017 18:42:36 +0100

India continue their domination at the top of the ICC Test rankings.  They grabbed the No. 1 spot late last year, after Pakistan briefly held it for a few weeks.  India with their record breaking home season look set to hold on to No. 1 for a long time.  Pakistan meanwhile after being white washed in Australia and New Zealand and despite eking out a historic first series win in West Indies against a historically weak West Indies side have plummeted to No. 6.

Barnet Fair Report on Today.

Sun, 21 May 2017 21:41:12 +0100

Thanks to Age UK Harrow, a charity close to my heart, there was a Middlesex CCC promotion allowing over 60's and a guest in free for today's play.  Some of my team mates from Barnet Over 50's Walking Football Team took advantage of this. Peter Speroni who goes once every 68 years has shared his thoughts of today, which  has given a regular like me some food for thought.

Wenger hides in bunker for lap of shame Player Ratings

Sun, 21 May 2017 18:54:17 +0100

For the first time ever Wenger stayed near the dug out for the whole of the lap of appreciation, usually he parades around like a proud mother hen, but this time he hid. He had nothing to fear, out of respect the crowd only blamed Kroenke for the clubs decline from a once great Wenger era. They pretended that Kroenke was to blame for all of Wenger's strange decisions, and at times poor tactics.

An Historic Milestone Of Thirty Wins!

Sun, 21 May 2017 19:25:05 +0100

A rampant Chelsea finished off their sixth season as English champions in style with their sixth straight Premier League triumph. They will hope to build upon this impressive sequence in August when they set about a defence of their thoroughly deserved silverware and seek to outdo their thirteen in a row which they magnificently accomplished in mid winter. On this day, John Terry fittingly bowed out of his unsurpassable career at Chelsea by being substituted in the 26th minute amidst a guard of honour from his grateful team mates. Stamford Bridge bade an emotional and grateful farewell to one of its greatest ever players.

In the words of that great Scottish bard Jim “Rabbie Burns” Hamilton, there are only so many times you can go to the well before it runs dry”. Today the well was dry and despite this fabulous, brave lionhearted team digging with their bare fingernails, there was nothing left.

Another Awful Roses Stalemate

Mon, 22 May 2017 22:51:06 +0100

Trust good old Old Trafford to produce yet again a pitch that did little to enhance the chances of a result, but simply allowed several batsmen to fill their boots on this buffet pitch. I'm all for pitches where bowlers have to work hard for their wickets, but for the second successive year, the red rose contingent have constructed a pitch that would have required about eight days to obtain a win for either protagonist. I guess that ultimately one could say that neither bowling unit did anywhere near enough to warrant a victory. Still, one bowler did have cause to celebrate, as Jack Brooks, batting at nine compiled his maiden first class century. A hearty congratulations to the headband warrior, but that was perhaps a barometer of how docile the pitch obviously was!

Europa League win - is the prize now.

Fri, 19 May 2017 13:28:10 +0100

Manchester United's league season is petering out and all eyes are on Stockholm for the final of the Europa League against Ajax of Amsterdam. So two famous clubs with huge European pedigrees will battle it out on Wednesday 24th May to see who lifts the trophy and for United a victory would grant them a place in the Champions League for 2017-18. The red devils secured European football back in February when they lifted the League Cup at Wembley but this second trophy would mean so much more to Jose and the club. The season has been great in parts and mediocre in others with far too many draws and not enough goals, but the foundations are there and once again more silverware has been won. United are becoming cup kings again it seems!

Spanish GP: Race to forget for Williams Martini.

Sun, 14 May 2017 15:09:55 +0100

The results of the 2017 Spanish GP would see the Williams Martini team come away with one of their poorest performances for quite some time. The race would see Felipe Massa and Lance Stroll finish in 13th and 16th positions. For Felipe his race would see him have to deal with several issues which hindered any possibility of a result. For Lance his race was one of running well of the pace at the rear of the field. But overall the race would see both Williams drivers struggling for pace finishing an amazing two laps down on the leaders.

Spanish GP: Williams Martini struggles in qualifying

Sat, 13 May 2017 14:39:00 +0100

The results of qualifying for the 2017 Spanish GP would see the Williams Martini team struggle. Team drivers Felipe Massa and Lance Stroll would both have difficulties getting the best from the FW40. Felipe would make it into the final period but would finish only in 9th. For Lance his qualfying would not go beyond the first period with Lance finishing in a disappointing 18th. For him the result was even more frustrating as it was this track on which he complete pre-season testing. Sunday's race is again going to be a case of damage limitation for the Williams team.

Spanish GP: Little change for Williams Martini in FP3

Sat, 13 May 2017 11:21:41 +0100

The final practice session for the 2017 Spanish GP would see little in the way of any change for the Williams Martini team. Felipe Massa would finish in the top ten in 8th while team-mate Lance Strool continued to struggle finishing in 17th. After their soft tyre runs the pair wer 5th and 6th but such as the gap to the quickest time for Lance he would quickly drop down the order. Once again qualifying is going to be difficult for the young Canadian.

Spanish GP: Mixed FP2 for Williams Martini

Fri, 12 May 2017 15:02:08 +0100

The second Friday practice session for the 2017 Spanish GP would see the Williams Martini team produce a mixed result with Felipe Massa finish in an encouraging 9th but team-mate Lance Stroll was well down the order in 17th. Lance would spend most of the session complaining about things ranging from lack of grip through to the temperature in his brakes. Lance would also have an off-track moment during the session. The Williams team has a lot of work to do in order to see their performance improve come Saturday.

Spanish GP: Williams Martini Grand Prix Preview

Wed, 10 May 2017 02:48:53 +0100

In what is the first of the European races the Williams Martini team moves to the Circuit de Catalunya for the 2017 Spanish GP. It is a circuit well know to all the F1 teams given that pre-season testing takes place here. The previous race in Russia saw the Williams team fail to secure the points that they were hoping for but they wqere encouraged by the potential of the FW40. For Felipe Massa and Lance Stroll are both looking forward to this race and are hoping that they can come away with a good weekend.
