Autocad 3D Rendering Posted By : Tom Gillan

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

Once built, we add lighting and materials to an Autocad 3D model in order to simulate real world appearance. The model is then rendered either as a still image or as an animated movie sequence. It's best to add a ground plane to the model, whether for architecture, interior design or engineering. This is done by typing planesurf into the Command line and creating a large rectangle as a base for the model, which will then show the shadows when the lighting is applied.

Wise men said that time is money. While the saying can be ancient, it is still very true in a modern business world. Time seems to slip through your fingers. This is why a time tracking is critically important in all modern companies.

Illustrator's Tool panel or Toolbox is located on the left-hand side of the interface, and contains all the tools you'll need to create stunning artwork in Illustrator. Illustrator Workspace Posted By : Tom Gillan

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

If you already use Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Indesign, the workspace we are presented with in Adobe Illustrator will be familiar to some extent. There are basically eight elements to the interface. The first is, of course, the graphic image itself on the art-board. This sits on the Canvas, a white or grey area surrounding the page. Here we can create extra elements of the artwork, to be used or discarded later.

Boost Performance and Stability with System Mechanic Professional Posted By : Harold Jackson

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

Over a few months of use, a computer inevitably slows down and becomes less reliable. While a regular maintenance routine will help to keep your computer performing better, there's no substitute for carrying out the occasional performance audit to restore performance and reliability. However, unless you're an advanced user with plenty of time and who has extensive knowledge of the inner workings of Windows, this course of action is generally not advisable.

Indesign Baseline Grid Posted By : Tom Gillan

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

When making the final tweaks to a document in Adobe Indesign many designers will align the text to a Baseline Grid. This feature will ensure that the baseline of each line of text in adjacent columns line up with each other. What is this baseline? This is a publisher's term for an invisible line which runs along the bottom of each line of text. The baseline grid is the regular pattern of such lines on each page of the document.

Connectivity is not binary, the network is never neutral Posted By : Jan Chipchase

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

The new project of Studio D shows what connectivity means to the locals of Myanmar. It takes an hour to clear the Yangon traffic, and another two to reach Bogale, a small town at the edge of the Irrawaddy Delta. From there, depending on which village you are planning to visit, the captain requires up to 3 hours of skilful boatmanship to navigate the monsoon swollen tributaries before reaching landfall.

Photoshop Deep Etching Posted By : Tom Gillan

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

Adobe Photoshop provides various selection tools useful to this process. In order to perform many operations in Photoshop we have to select a group of pixels which represent the object. When the selection is complete we can do just about anything with it, from changing colours and tones to retouching or copying the image across into another file.

Illustrator Drop Shadow Posted By : Tom Gillan

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

We can add dynamism to our Illustrator artwork by the simple means of adding a drop shadow. The image shown here, for example, was first collaged in Adobe Photoshop from several photographs, then imported into Adobe Illustrator via the File menu and Place. We then used the Image Trace function to redefine the bitmap (pixel) information as vector artwork.

SketchUp Drape Posted By : Tom Gillan

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

When terrain has been created in SketchUp either through importing contours from a CAD program or directly from Google Earth, we then usually want to modify it in some way by adding site details from a site map, or vegetation textures from the Materials panel. The free SketchUp Make users may only import the JPEG file format. Make users would now change the camera view to a plan view by going to the Camera drop-down menu and choosing Top.

Illustrator Effects Posted By : Tom Gillan

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 00:00:00 -0400

Most of Illustrator's effects can be found in the top Effects drop-down menu. There are various sets and subsets in the fly-out lists. To test some of these we first need to create some basic artwork, as shown in the simple example here. For example, using the basic shapes tools (Rectangle, Ellipse, Rounded Rectangle, Star shapes), we would create a yellow rectangle, a red rectangle, a blue circle and green line, etc.

Illustrator Vector Graphics Posted By : Tom Gillan

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 00:00:00 -0400

When we create artwork using Adobe Illustrator we are creating vector-based shapes or graphics. This is geometry based on mathematical calculations and equations. Such lines, curves, anchor points and colours are generated in quite a different manner than the pixel-based imagery of programs like Adobe Photoshop, which are known as bitmap graphics.

SketchUp Contours Posted By : Tom Gillan

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 00:00:00 -0400

SketchUp allows us to create terrain from contours from a few simple steps involving the Sandbox set of tools. Sandbox does not appear in the default setup, therefore go to the Window drop-down menu and choose Preferences, then Extensions and tick Sandbox tools, and hit OK. Or right-click on the top toolbar and choose Toolbars and Sandbox. If you have purchased the SketchUp Pro version, you may import a contour lines CAD file into SketchUp.

Autocad 2D Layout Posted By : Tom Gillan

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 00:00:00 -0400

We always create our drawings in Model space. In contrast the Layout tabs represent our Paper sheets, that is, how the drawing will be displayed when printed. To this we usually add a title block with drawing and company details. We may also arrange multiple views of the model, for drawing details, for example. These could be shown at different scales.

Indesign Page Numbers Posted By : Tom Gillan

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 00:00:00 -0400

Documents, such as brochures, annual reports and newsletters often require page numbers. This is a straight-forward matter of using Master-Page elements and an automation feature of Indesign. Firstly we double-click on a master-page thumbnail in the Pages panel (for example the default A-Master page) to go into the master page environment.

Autocad 2D Grid Posted By : Tom Gillan

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 00:00:00 -0400

When drafting in the Autocad 2d interface it can be useful to set up a grid to align and distribute the various elements of the drawing. For example, if you were drawing a floor plan it could be useful to see a grid in order to evenly place structural support beams. Alternatively, in the example of a circuit board diagram, you may wish to draw equally spaced tracks and connectors.

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 00:00:00 -0400

The drafting of house plans by architects or builders is one of the main uses for Autocad 2d. These plans are then to be submitted for council approval, according to their guidelines. The first step in the drafting process would be to create a new drawing by opening an existing template (dwt) file from within the Autocad 2d workspace.

Automate FTP Transfers to Synchronize Data Easily Posted By : Vladimir Davidenko

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 00:00:00 -0400

Everyone who regularly works with data stored on a remote FTP server knows just how time-consuming and inefficient the process is, particularly if they are working through a Web browser rather than a dedicated FTP client. However, even a standard FTP client tends to be slow and unresponsive to the extent that uploading and synchronizing multiple folders full of file manually quickly becomes a practical impossibility.
