What I am good at: making money, creativity, coming up with ideas, cooperating with like-minded people, agreeing to cooperative economic models with aligned interests

What I'm not as good at and looking for in a business partner: organization, focus, implementation, consistent drive, day to day operations, etc.

So I have money and (if these trends continue!) will continue to have more. What I want to do is spend that money in interesting ways, founding companies, buying into and or buying out interesting small companies, exploring ideas whether or not they'll be profitable, financing the sci-fi future, accelerating towards a world past limited resource issues, financing interesting creative work (movies, film, games), etc, etc, etc. If that sounds like too much and too unfocused than you aren't the person I'm looking for! What I'm looking for is someone who can take these ideas and the money I'm putting behind them and run with them, who wants to get into the nitty gritty of it and be an effective counterweight to my weaknesses but with similar goals. This unlikely individual would need to cooperate with me and analyze these concepts to help get them started and move them into further stages where they run on mostly their own steam (maybe a venture production studio model? or some sort of hybrid?). This person should want to run and be involved in a diverse set of projects which will grow and change over time. I'm not just looking for someone to blindly execute my vision however, I want a collaborator as much as anything. If this all sounds a little vague it's because I realized that one of the greatest things about having the money to start my own project is that I don't need to pretend to be or want a company that isn't reflective of myself. What's the point of money if you aren't doing something interesting with it?

This is a hypothetical question to see if this is a reasonable request: I'm flying with my 2 adult daughters to London and arriving at 23:00 on July 1. I'm renting an AirBnB in the neighborhood of the London Eye and Big Ben. I'm interested to see if someone could pick up the keys sometime after 3pm and then meet me at the flat when I get to town sometime around midnight or 1am. If you had ability to pick us up at the airport and drive us to the apartment, that would be great, but not necessary - I can arrange that separately.

This is still tentative. We might change our flights. I just wanted to see if there was someone willing to do this, and how much you would charge.

We have an opening for office clerical, 30-32 hours a week, permanent. Clerical as in mostly checking people in for appointments, scheduling appointments, calls to confirm or change appointments. Attention to detail and ability to be pleasant and present is the primary requirement.

Pluses: great place to work, excellent benefits, including full health & 2 to 1 employer matched 401-K even at part time (30+ hours/week is considered FULL time). Secure, stable position.

Minuses: Hours are usually 2pm to 10pm or 3pm to 11pm. Not much advancement upward within the department, but employer is HUGE so there are plenty of opportunities across the corporation. Good pay for the work, but not great pay.

This is a really cool job for the kind of person who thinks nerdy energy efficiency stuff is super cool. The real job title is "Regulatory Analyst, Conservation Improvement Program," but the simple version is that I need an energy policy person to join my staff of talented and smart wonks working on utility energy efficiency programs, because my senior analyst has decided to go to law school.

We're a large natural gas utility. We have a large conservation program (one of the best in the US). We're looking to hire an analyst to support the regulatory oversight and reporting functions related to the conservation program.

It's a great way to get started in the energy efficiency field, and offers opportunities to grow into some pretty interesting policy work. You'd get exposed to most aspects of EE programs, including program design, policy, cost-recovery and the general utility business model for EE, and a lot of other fun stuff.

My ideal candidate would be someone with some experience and exposure to energy conservation and energy efficiency, an understanding of the energy policy landscape and the regulatory process, and decent quantitative skills including cost/benefit analysis. We're not looking for an engineer, but someone with an understanding of technical principles would be good. There is an extent to which brains and motivation can substitute for experience. Critical thinking and strong written and verbal communication skills are key, along with attention to detail - this position needs someone who can move from the nitty-gritty detail level to the 10,000-foot overview and back again.

This summer, we will focus on Seniors and their caregivers.

Our nation is aging rapidly, but rather than enjoying their golden years, too many seniors find themselves struggling, forced each month to choose between food, medication, or rent. And there has been an alarming rise in the number of seniors who are homeless or relying on food banks.

In New York City, the number of seniors is projected to increase to nearly 1.9 million by 2030, making it the fastest-growing population. Unfortunately, seniors struggle disproportionately with access to benefits, health issues, and affordable housing.

One out of every six seniors relies on emergency food

One out of five lives below the poverty line

One out of four has limited mobility

Many face these challenges alone. In 2014, 32 percent of persons age 65 and over, and nearly half of persons 85 and older in New York City lived alone. In addition, seniors who live alone have the second highest poverty rate (among all older households).

A complex ecosystem of benefits and support systems exists to help seniors; however, navigating and accessing these benefits can be a challenge and many forgo help. As many as one million seniors in New York are eligible for SNAP aka food stamps, but only about half are enrolled in the program.

We think technology has a role to play.

We’ve had fellows join us from Google, Facebook, Twitter, NASA, and more. They’ve founded organizations that have raised millions of dollars and helped hundreds of thousands of people.

Long story short...Client/small business has a site built on WordPress by another large firm. Site needs a couple of page edits/additions but the large firm wants a huge untenable maintenance contract before they'll touch it. So...

The client is in Indianapolis, so local talent would be a plus, but not necessary. MeMail or email me to talk specifics before you say yea or nay. To be fair, I'm shopping to see what's available, so I can present the idea of going freelance to the client.

UPDATE: Since posting this job offer, my client has decided to firmly sit on the fence, trying to decide what direction they want to go. My gut tells me that they are leaning toward having the big company go ahead and make the edits, but I have not been officially told this. Such is life with clients, eh?

We’re seeking a coder experienced with PHP7 including basic database functions to re-write in PHP7 an existing (PHP4) administrative dashboard for our image and video-hosting site. Via this administrative dashboard, users will log in and create/upload new content, assign properties to each piece of content that they update, and view reports.

All of these administrative functions are already well-defined from a business logic perspective in the existing system -- e.g., updating [this] database record, copy [that] file to a specific folder, output [some other] query results as a report. You would be responsible for implementing all of these functions in PHP7 via an HTML template; very little design work is expected as part of this project.

Candidates must have extensive experience with PHP7, especially performing operations against a MySQL database and outputting well-structured HTML via templates. The ideal candidate will also have experience implementing robust, gracefully-degrading file upload widgets and RTE (rich text editors).

Knowledgeable, patient, tech person who can assess my current home computer set up (Dell All in One), switch me to the new hardware/software listed below, suggest and setup appropriate backup perhaps to a cloud system, and assist me with any necessary further purchases. Likely include transfer of some existing data from Dell.

New hardware/software:
--MS Surface Pro 4 (with MS Office 365 Personal software to be installed);
--a gently used HP PhotoSmart Premium C309g All in One (printer/scanner/copier).
--Amazon Echo.
--iPod on which all my music is stored.
--Roku for my TV, and Amazon Prime.
--older modem.
--contemplating a new iPad, this may be redundant?

I have DSL, think I should switch to FiOS.

I don't know if my external drive is set to backup correctly; and, suspect I should be backing up to the cloud.

I'd like to drop my primary email (Thunderbird) and switch to my existing Gmail account. That could be problematic, for REASONS.

Tldr: I need someone to help me sort out my home computer, and do the technical stuff, while not entirely shutting me out of the process.

Math pal for my dad (11360)

My father is 83 (in generally good health), with a PhD in number theory from NYU. He wrote for many years with his PhD advisor, but his advisor passed a few years back, and I believe Dad would enjoy having someone new to do math with. This could take a variety of forms - e.g., he currently teaches math for artists, if that's a particular interest.
