Albany AFL Opens its Doors
Seventeen years after it left, Ron Jaworski declared on Tuesday evening, “Professional football is back in Albany!” This declaration was made in front of a few hundred in attendance at the Albany AFL Open House at the Times Union Center. Season pass holders were invited to the event to mingle with team ownership, the coaching staff, and Arena Football legend “Touchdown” Eddie Brown.



Buzz grows for football return
Honestly, "Touchdown" Eddie Brown can't remember the last time he set foot in Times Union Center. He was there Tuesday night, reliving the cheers he used to get as a member of the Arena League's Albany Firebirds back in the day.

The name for the new arena football team coming to Albany will soon be unveiled. Voting closed at midnight to vote on one of four choices. They were the Albany Phoenix, the Albany Empire, Albany Machine and Albany Fire. The team will host an open tryout for players on Jan. 27 at the Sportsplex in Halfmoon.

The Arena Football League’s newest team will host an open tryout on Saturday, January 27 at Sportsplex at Halfmoon located at 6 Corporate Drive, Clifton, NY 12065. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with stretching starting at 9 a.m.
