Citywide Parking Ban in Effect until 6:00AM, Providence Public Schools with 2 hour delay.

Due to winter storm conditions, a citywide parking ban will go into effect at 12:01AM (2/13) and continue until 6:00AM in the morning. Providence Public Schools will be open but operating with a two hour delay.

Garbage and recycling pickup are cancelled for 2/13, all pickups will operate with a one day delay for the rest of the week.

PROVIDENCE, RI - Due to winter storm conditions Providence Public Schools and afterschool activities are canceled for February 10th, 2017. The citywide parking ban will be lifted at 6:00AM.

Garbage and recycling pickup in Providence will go on as scheduled with a one day delay, Thursday pick up will be on Friday and Friday's on Saturday.

Elorza today joined city department directors, staff from the Mayor's Center for City Services, and DORCAS International Institute of Rhode Island's Community Relations Manager Brandon Lozeau, to celebrate the ten thousandth completed case with the city's PVD311 service, showing residents and organizations that the hotline and mobile app are easy to use and responsive in completing city service requests.

PROVIDENCE, RI - Due to winter storm conditions afterschool activities and recreation activities are canceled for January 31. There will also be a citywide parking ban beginning at midnight (12:00AM February 1) which will remain in effect until 6:00AM on February 1. This parking ban will allow teams to achieve curb-to-curb plowing standards that are new this year.

Elorza today announced that Oasis International Founder and Executive Director Muraina "Morris" Akinfalorin, Urban Collaborative Accelerated Program (UCAP) Director and Founder Rob DeBlois, and NAACP Providence Branch President Jim Vincent will be honored at the 14th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Hall of Fame Awards. The induction ceremony will take place in the City Council Chambers at Providence City Hall on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 5:30pm.

City of Providence Receives $200,000 Environmental Protection Agency Grant

Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza today announced that the City of Providence has been selected to receive a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as part of the Brownfields Area-Wide Planning (AWP) program. The City will use grant funds to develop a vision, market study, and an area-wide plan for redeveloping contaminated brownfield sites along the Woonasquatucket River, just west of downtown Providence.
