Mayor Jorge Elorza announced that Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Kevin Kugel will serve as Director of the Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). Most recently, LTC (Ret.) Kugel was of Professor of Military Science at Providence College where he was chair of the department.

Mayor Jorge Elorza, Sin Bakery proprietor Jennifer Luxmoore, Department of Innovation Director Emmanuel Echevarria, as well as staff from Providence's Licensing Office today introduced the City's new Licensing Kiosk. The addition of the innovative tool and the Viewpoint digitized platform is part of Mayor Elorza's efforts to streamline licensing processes and improve the experience of customers when applying for a license through the Board of Licenses.

Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today announced that Providence is one of 10 new cities joining the City Energy Project, a united effort to address the largest source of energy use and climate pollution in America's urban centers and buildings. The project is expected to save Providence residents and businesses as much as $20 million on their annual energy bills by 2030.

Mayor Jorge Elorza today announced that Fitch Ratings has upgraded the City of Providence's outstanding General Obligation (GO) Bonds to 'A-' and has assigned a Stable outlook. In addition to upgrading the City's GO Bond rating, Fitch has upgraded Providence's Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to 'BBB' from 'BBB-'. According to Fitch, the GO bond rating two steps above the IDR reflects the enhanced recovery prospects for GO bondholders afforded by the statutory lien on pledged property tax revenues in Rhode Island law.
