Verizon FiOS TV adds WatchESPN for the Xbox

(Best Syndication News) - Verizon FiOS TV customers can now get WatchESPN on their Microsoft Xbox 360 game consoles. Additionally, HD video of live broadcasts and events from ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, and ESPN Goal Line/Buzzer Beaters are accessible for Xbox LIVE Gold members. Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) made the announcement Tuesday.

The new addition will allow Verizon FiOS subscribers to watch popular ESPN shows, such as "SportsCenter," "PTI," "First Take," "NFL Live," "Baseball Tonight," "College GameDay," "Mike & Mike in the Morning," and more on their Xbox. Live sporting event broadcasts from the NFL, MLB, NBA, motor sports, soccer, golf, tennis, and more will now be delivered to the Xbox through ESPN.

Los Angeles Dodgers sale for $2 Billion is a Done Deal

(Best Syndication News) - The sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been completed today, according to an announcement made by Guggenheim Baseball Management LLC and Frank McCourt. The sale cost the new owners $2 billion.

Mark Walter, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and Stan Kasten are named as having ownership of the franchise. Mark Walter is the control person, and Stan Kasten is the CEO for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers released a statement saying, "The Dodgers emerge from the Chapter 11 reorganization process having achieved its objective of maximizing the value of the Dodgers through a successful Plan of Reorganization, under which all claims will be paid. The Dodgers move forward with confidence - in a strong financial position; as a premier Major League Baseball franchise; and as an integral part of and representative of the Los Angeles community."

(Best Syndication News) - The Los Angeles Dodgers have filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which will allow the baseball team owners to deal with immediate finances. In a statement, Dodger owner, Frank McCourt, mentioned Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig as the reason the team had to file for chapter 11.

Selig did not approve a media transaction between the Los Angeles Dodgers and FOX network, which was a multibillion-dollar media rights transaction. If the MLB Commissioner approved of this, the Dodgers would have had access to hundreds of millions of dollars. The office of the MLB Commissioner rejected the proposed deal. The Dodgers have been trying for almost a year to get Selig to approve the media deal.

(Best Syndication News) - AT&T U-Verse has collaborated with WGN America and WGN-TV to offer more camera angles of the Chicago Cubs baseball games at Wrigley Field. There will be up to four different camera angles that AT&T U-verse customers can chose from when watching a home game of the Chicago Cubs. This functionality will be available all U-verse TV customers.

AT&T expanded this multi-view feature of the Chicago Cubs games from last year's test run which was only available to Chicago U-verse TV customers. AT&T is now making the multi-viewing options available nationwide. Most of the Chicago Cubs home games will have the app for picking the camera angles displayed on the TV.

The camera angles are set up for above home plate, third base, first base, and center field. The Chicago Cubs Multiview is free for those U-Verse TV customers that subscribe to U100 and above on channel 780 and 1780HD.

[Best Syndication News] Andre Dawson was up for the nomination the ninth time which turned in his favor receiving 420 of 539 votes to finally get his to to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame. Last year Dawson missed the honor by 44 votes.

Dawson told the AP in a phone interview that “If you're a Hall of Famer, eventually you're going to get in no matter how long it takes.” He continued to tell them how happy he and his family were when they received the good news.

Dawson baseball career spanned from 1976 – 1996 hitting 438 home runs and 1,591 RBIs. He stole 314 bases in his career and had a total of 2,774 hits. Dawson spent the bulk of his career with the Montreal Expos from 1976 – 1986 and with the Chicago Cubs from 1987-1992. He earned the nickname “The Hawk” and was voted National League 's Rookie of the Year in 1977. In 1987 he was voted the National Leagues Most Valuable Player in 1987.

Manny and David helped drive the Red Sox to the championship in 2004 and 2007.

In 2003 Major League Baseball began testing players for drugs, but the results from that year were to remain sealed. Later the government grabbed the list in their ongoing investigation of performance enhancing drugs in professional sports. Now lawyers are spilling the beans anonymously about those involved, but they didn’t identify which drugs.

[Best Syndication News] Jim Rice and Rickey Henderson both former left-fielders were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame the past Sunday.

Jim Rice, 56, played for the Boston Red Sox from 1974 to 1989. Rice became the ninth MLB player to have the highest number of total bases in consecutive seasons. Rice set a record by hitting for 400 total bases in a 19 year time span. In eleven seasons he had 20 home runs.

Rice was well known for his power hitting and he batted a .298 with 382 home runs and batted 1,451 runs over his 19 year MLB career. He helped his team by driving 100 runs or more eight times. He had a batting average of .300 seven times during his career. He reached 200 hits four times over the years playing for the Red Sox.

Rice's #14 will be retired by the Red Sox on July 28, 2009 since his induction into the hall of fame.

President Barack Obama telephoned Buehrle and congratulated him for his achievement. Buehrle spoke at a post-game news conference and said that this was an achievement of a lifetime. Chicago fans celebrated the accomplishment.

Buehrle told the press, "I think it's another thing when you retire and you sit back and you see how many perfect games have been thrown in the history [of the sport] and your name's in there. I think that's when you sit back and kind of be surprised."

(Best Syndication) The Braves beat the Dodgers 6-4 in come-from-behind fashion Sunday. This was the 16th time this season that the Dodgers led going into the 7th inning but the first time they lost doing so. Their overall record this season is 18-13.

The Dodgers new third baseman wasted no time getting on base with a ground-rule double. Andy LaRoche made it home with a hit from outfielder Andre Ethier. That tied the game at one. Ethier later made it home himself.

Wilson Betemit hit two pinch-hit homers in two consecutive days making the score four to one. But later Atlanta came back and tied it up. Edgar Renteria drove in a pair of runs and scored twice while extending his hit streak to 15 games. They ended up putting five runs up in the 7th inning.

The Pinon Hills Elementary students were honored with Outstanding Student Awards sponsored by Argosy University. Things went downhill after the opening ceremonies. The winds were blasting and the temperature dropped below 50 degrees as the Mavericks took a 4-2 lead into the top of the ninth inning, with three of the runs coming with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.

The St. Louis Cardinals lead the World Series two games to one, after a great performance by Card pitcher Chris Carpenter, who suffered a mild spasm but continued to play. Neither a chilly evening nor a spasm in his hand could stop Carpenter from beating off Detroit Tiger batters.

When Tiger pitcher Kenny Rogers’ name was announced before the game, Cardinal fans chanted “cheater”, but the fans gave Carpenter a standing ovation when he came out to bat in the eighth inning. The Cardinals brought relief pitcher Braden Looper in for the ninth ending.

Loooper and Carpenter threw for a combined three-hitter. "Go one pitch at a time," Carpenter said later. "All that stuff around you that‘s going on doesn‘t get in your head, so you‘re not even thinking about it."

I thought you might be curious to see what the Yankees have done since they sbegan as a mojor league team. I will get to that in a second.

From 1919 to 1964 The New York Yankees had a winning season every year except 1925. Their two best years were 1939 of DiMaggio and Dickey when they were 106-45, a 702 winning percentage. Even better the Yankees of 1927 had a 714 winning percentage. Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig had something to do with that. The Yankees have scored 79,003 runs since they have been a major league team. They have surrendered 68,192 runs.
