Verizon FiOS TV adds WatchESPN for the Xbox

(Best Syndication News) - Verizon FiOS TV customers can now get WatchESPN on their Microsoft Xbox 360 game consoles. Additionally, HD video of live broadcasts and events from ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, and ESPN Goal Line/Buzzer Beaters are accessible for Xbox LIVE Gold members. Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) made the announcement Tuesday.

The new addition will allow Verizon FiOS subscribers to watch popular ESPN shows, such as "SportsCenter," "PTI," "First Take," "NFL Live," "Baseball Tonight," "College GameDay," "Mike & Mike in the Morning," and more on their Xbox. Live sporting event broadcasts from the NFL, MLB, NBA, motor sports, soccer, golf, tennis, and more will now be delivered to the Xbox through ESPN.

(Best Syndication News) This weekend there will be several sports events including the NASCAR Kobalt Tools 400 in Las Vegas, the Honda Classic, and various Major League Baseball games. The Lakers and Clippers will also be playing this weekend.


The NASCAR 2011 Sprint Cup Series continues with the Kobalt Tools 400 on Sunday (see the chart below). The weather is expected to be dry and warm. Kurt Busch is the defending pole sitter. The race begins at 3 pm ET and will be shown on FOX.

The winner and the guest will also get to take a ride in an Indy Racing Experience two-seat race car. They will get to eat a private breakfast with Danica Patrick and her teammate, Ryan Hunter-Reay. Rolex 24 Hours Daytona

(Best Syndication News) The weather was less than perfect today when the Rolex 24 at Dayton got underway. Rain was falling when the 24-hour sports car endurance race started at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The race is always held on the last weekend of January. Rolex has been sponsoring this race since 1991. The winner receives a Rolex Daytona watch.

Mark Ragginger running the Alex Job Racing Porsche of was out in front of the GT class, followed by Robin Liddell and Patrick Long.

Crazy New Years Eve Stunt breaks World Record - Travis Pastrana jumps Car off Long Beach Pier

[Best Syndication News] Travis Pastrana achieved a new world record on New Years Eve when he jumped his race car off of the Pine Street Pier in Long Beach, California and landing on a barge that was positioned to catch him in the harbor. Pastrana cleared 269 feet in the air and the grand event which happened shortly after midnight was televised by ESPN. The event was sponsored by Redbull.

Pastrana raced his Subaru down the Pier and made his jump. When he landed he slid his car sideways and hit a fenced barricade to make his car come to a stop. He was not injured in the stunt and came out of the car to meet the crowd of around 20,000 spectators.

Pastrana is becoming a regular daredevil as he has jumped out of an airplane without a parachute to have someone with a parachute catch up with him for a safe landing.

(Best Syndication News) With only fourteen races left in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, all eyes are on this weekends Watkins Glen race in New York. With his win at the Pocono raceway last weekend, Denny Hamlin became the 12th different winner in the competition.

So far there have been 21 races, not counting the Sprint Showdown and the All Star races in May. There have been 12 winners so far tying the 2008 season for all time winners. That record will likely fall this season with more than a third of the races still to come.

Danica proves that women can beat men behind the wheel

Woman racing drivers have always had to battle to overcome discrimination as well as the challenges of the racing circuit to make it in the profession. Throughout the history of motorsport women have come and gone without making a lasting impression; that was until 26-year-old Danica Patrick became the first woman to ever win an Indy Car race.

When Patrick took the chequered flag at the Twin Ring Motegi in Japan in May 2008, she notched her first win in three years of competition to make motor racing history. However, because breaking her duck was such a long time in coming she had previously been subject to a great deal of criticism from fellow competitors due to the amount of media attention that she attracted. They felt it was disproportionate to her ability, a claim that has now been put to rest in emphatic fashion.

(Best Syndication) A mechanic made a mistake and it cost Jeff Gordon dearly, as NASCAR officials said he will start 42 in a field of 43 cars in Sunday’s Daytona 500. When asked about it at a news conference after winning the second twin 150-mile qualifying race Thursday, Gordon was surprised, “Are you serious? That sucks. I'm mad about that right now." He was unaware of the infraction.

The inspectors said that his number 24 Monte Carlo was almost an inch too low. When asked what the penalty should be, Gordon said he was not sure. "I mean, I think I should start the Daytona 500 on Sunday, but where I start will be the other thing".
